It’s good because if this was 20 years ago, Luck would be a dead man because of both medicine being limited and old man mentality to stay on the field.
I cannot believe that someone who keeps playing competitive football, from grade school to professional football, honestly believes that they will come out physically or psychologically unscathed, much less that they will come out healthier after their playing days are done. Of course, you will be deteriorating over time. Simple getting older degrades your body and mind. Not accepting that reality and not adjusting to your changing physical and mental states has more to do with arrogance and an unexamined ego. In spite of injuries, Luck is still a high quality QB talent, but IF he actually believed that his injury-adjusted current and future levels of talents were not good enough, as Wiley and Brooks suggest, then Luck's decision is neither courageous nor does it reflect humility, and instead, Luck's decision reflects an unchecked pride along with a lower tolerance threshold for pain and sacrifice, and an unwillingness to bear the costs, which includes recurrent pain, associated with that sacrifice. Aside from poor OLs, Luck and others who play that aggressive (gambler's) style of football should also realize the consequences of not avoiding contact. Too bad Floyd Mayweather did not train Luck, Newton, and others, on the art of avoiding unnecessary violent contact.
No one who has NEVER played at the NFL level of football will ever understand how much of a grind it is. The punishment takes a toll on the body. I wish Andrew Luck well in retirement. No shame in getting out of the game before it breaks you down physically and mentally.

Many people seem to count like that lol. If I make a hundred thousand dollars this year, but live in Tokyo, go out a lot, pay taxes normally, I might end up with 20-25 thousand saved in the end, which is way of course way lower than 100.
Isn't it kinda funny how pretty much every ex player has lucks back and understands why he retired and only these analysts who never played are saying something about how he shouldn't have stopped so early
Vontae Davis could have easily told the team he couldn't do it anymore and stay to support them. He didn't do any of that, he left at half time and didn't even tell them
NAW I GUARANTEE HE ALREASY DONE TOLD THEM MONTHS AN MONTHS AGO BUT I WOULD BET MONEY THEY TOLD HIM TO SAY NOTHIN UNTIL THEY SOLD ALL THERE SEASON TICKET PASSES!!!!
I think there's more to the story and that the time line is totally off. I feel even more worried for the guy because of his mysterious injury. The fact that the backup was playing with the 1s for so long shows they had some indication that at least his health was in a serious gray area. My theory is that the truth hit them all in the past couple weeks and we're just watching an accelerated downfall. This injury must be serious for so many people to be stumped. We know of a bunch of injuries but he's probably had a lot more than we know and with him playing injured I can see why his body might not have been able to heal properly. I feel for the guy. I'm glad he called it quits instead of becoming one of those guys who shoot up and short change their teammates. I get the timing thing but I think it must have hit the fan so fast that they decided to rush it before the season starts. Better he retire two weeks prior than 2 weeks in.
Money doesnt buy everything. No new hands, feet, ribs, spine, head (brain), cartilage. Luck and plenty more of these current players will no doubt deal with arthritis as they age.
Most people and I mean most (99%) just don't get it. YOU really don't. Look, Luck can make his decision and good for him but the bigger issue isn't really dealt with on this decision.Luck knew what he was getting into. He was the overall #1 pick. He was the pick of the franchise. Even Luck will tell you he was well aware who he was replacing. He was paid franchise money to lead the franchise to a title. He was their guy for 15-20 years. Things aren't always easy and don't go according to plan.Luck had an obligation to do everything in his power to succeed. He wasn't a 5th round draft pick or backup rb or free agent. Luck and his place in the organization isn't like the typical guard or center on a team. Why do you think these organizations pay so much money to the qb? It's the passing era. You need a qb which is why these teams risk a lot to get their guy.Luck was their guy but he put personal considerations first even though he literally signed on to do more than what he did which was play the game through pain. It's not easy being a NFL qb when things don't always go right. On a side note, teams are probably going to draft qb's who aren't that well rounded and sophisticated because when they draft a guy they want 100% football.
I’m happy for Andrew Luck that he walked away when he could. For example:boxers never leave until they have a speech impediment. Awesome, a 29 year old multimillionaire! Fantastic
if the NFL was smart, and they are not, they would ask andrew to take a year off then get him in the front office as an executive doing something...the NFL needs luck for his intellect, integrity, and experience. Vonte Davis is the perfect example of what NOT to do...you do it BEFORE the season starts, not at the alter! Vonta wasn't a QB...this is all different for a starting, franchise QB...you can lose a wide out or d back, not a starting QB...you dont get that, you dont get pro football.
It's interesting to see how apologetic and understanding they are regarding Andrew Luck. Meanwhile, they repeatedly mock and scorn Colin Kaepernick. If the two players switched roles, I doubt they would be so supportive of Luck's decision.
What are your thoughts on Andrew Luck’s retirement?

Edward Oorjitham yeah they waited to late to get an OL after the fact he was already going through getting back from his shoulder
AJW 05 yes. Too many years of exposure to injury especially early on
Whitlock the guy who look at sports as a positive because he can talk about the playershe wish he could be but ain't have the will 2 play 🤦🏾♂️
Andrew should have publicly said that idiot Ryan Grigson doesn't know how to put an offensive line together and I forced to take a beating for years before I got Chris Ballard as my general manager who put together a better offensive line in his first year than Ryan did during his time as general manager.
Its better then retiring at the half way season at half time like Davis lol.
Fact
How is it better? Same result... Hypocrite
How is it better???? Vontae Davis at least mad an effort Luck didnt even play dude.....man most you white boys have a different energy when its a black player....Fact sand know your not black....your a small D!CK troll using a fake black person account.......dude its 2019 we all, know ya use fake accounts.
@@IsmokeHiphopLive dude Idk what's going on lol but you clearly need someone to tell you it's ok man
You lost me when you talk about privledge.
I believe he was referring to his dad playing in the NFL like the Mannings which is the royal family of the sport.
SHOUT OUT TO VONTAE DAVIES
So Luck must don’t pay taxes since they saying he has 100 million in the bank smh and why are they assuming he’s saved all his $$ 🤔🤔🤔 what could it be
Many people seem to count like that lol. If I make a hundred thousand dollars this year, but live in Tokyo, go out a lot, pay taxes normally, I might end up with 20-25 thousand saved in the end, which is way of course way lower than 100.
Jochen Schütz yeah they just acting like he hasn’t spent any $$$ 😂😂😂😂
Isn't it kinda funny how pretty much every ex player has lucks back and understands why he retired and only these analysts who never played are saying something about how he shouldn't have stopped so early
Marcellus Wiley was really never that good.
These guys talk about $100 million like the average person talk about a 1/2 million
8:04 MESSAGE
Andrew luck turning into Michael Vick 8:42
Luck seemed intent on playing Wk 1 then said his decision to quit had already been made 2 weeks ago? That's weird.
Vontae Davis
could have easily told the team he couldn't do it anymore and stay to support them. He didn't do any of that, he left at half time and didn't even tell them
Its not courageous to retire when youve made 109mil.
3 yrs college 5 yrs NFL done I'm out.
Mike Vick was supposed to do that.
Marcellus said he was in his prime
Luck has seen two or three specialist. Not just the colts staff.
NAW I GUARANTEE HE ALREASY DONE TOLD THEM MONTHS AN MONTHS AGO BUT I WOULD BET MONEY THEY TOLD HIM TO SAY NOTHIN UNTIL THEY SOLD ALL THERE SEASON TICKET PASSES!!!!
That would be hilarious 😂😂
These dudes need to stop tryning to say why andrew luck retired . only Luck knows
The only problem I have is why he is not paying back what he should..
That's the important part. He gets to keep all his money while others who've done this(Barry,Ricky, megatron) had to repay the team.
Why does that man have a soul patch. What year is this.
Is this poetic justice for Peyton Manning.
Said the samething. The Colts tossed Peyton to the side real quick
What's the count on great football players that retired early this generation? Luck, Calvin, gronk, ... Who else
Gronk?
@@lindokuhlemkhize9535 Yea there's still more tho
Would you say Plummer was one or is he too far back
What exit was better luck or vontae Davis
I am happy for him. He realize that when he gets older he will not have migraines and will be able to walk.
Let's just let Luck be Luck, let the dude live his own life
Something about Bucky I don’t like
He bald
Andrew Luck has 100 million dollars in the bank. I think he'll be fine in retirement, the NFL has been good to him.
To be fair Calvin Johnson retired early because he got tired of losing and the lions didn’t want to trade him or release him
But he had to repay that money.
It's interesting to see how apologetic and understanding they are regarding Andrew Luck. Meanwhile, they repeatedly mock and scorn Colin Kaepernick. If the two players switched roles, I doubt they would be so supportive of Luck's decision.
