The investing rule of thumb is you can probably spend 3% of your net worth annually for the rest of your life. Assuming Luck paid about half of his earnings in taxes, he had up to $50 million to invest. If he can keep his annual spending under $1M he should be good.

As a Colts fan I was embarrassed by the booing coming from other Colts fans. I couldn't believe it. I fully understood how they were feeling and how they got to the point of booing. I just couldn't believe they would actually boo a guy that put it all on the line for his team, owner, front office, city and fans. We saw Luck take hit after hit and we saw him get up time and time again. He did more with less than any other QB before and after. He chose to walk away because he was tired. Exhausted from the grind of working his tail off to get healthy just so he could go out and get hurt again. It took me some time but I fully understand Luck's decision and I appreciate his honesty. The selfish part of me is still angry. I feel sorry for myself because I will never get to see the greatness of Andrew Luck again. It's like putting a tent over the Eiffel tower. Greatness that deserves to be shared with the world is now gone and how do we cope.
I hope andrew enjoys his non football life and that he never regrets his decision. I hope those boos turn into cheers and we can atleast appreciate the greatness we did get to see from Andrew Luck.

To be fair, I get it. If you came in expecting your team to have a shot at the Super Bowl, then have those dreams shatter, I get why they would be upset. Especially those watching the preseason games. Those are usually the fans who are passionate about the team.

Lalo they also usually have season tickets where the prices get jacked up after a good season. These people who make 50-70k a year, and maybe have a family, spend sometimes up to $4k. The news also broke out right after the deadline for season tickets. I understand their anger completely.

In a perfect world, we are sympathetic and fully understand Luck's decision where we would applaud him for making the best decision for himself. People in the media definitely need to stop ripping the fans for booing. We pay hundreds of dollars (even for preseason) to watch these guys, and for Indy fans, they had high expectations. Football players are paid millions to deliver, and if they quit, it's a huge disappointment IN THAT MOMENT. Definitely 100% with Colin, media needs to stop going after the fans and pretending to be better when they go after players when they demand trades and subsequently painting them to be team-killers and quitters when they are simply "doing what's best for them."

I was in the emergency room with a ruptured cervical disc when I heard Barry Sanders retired. I SWEAR that hurt WORST than my injury which led to surgery and a metal rod in my neck.
