Haha, thanks. We didn’t have a choice that day. We were exhausted but had no food or water to stay the night in the mountains. At the end of the day, the tough ones stay in our memories!

Seeing him take off from the cliff and paragliding, just reminded me why I bike. I want the adventure, the freedom, the whats-behind-the-next feeling, and just being on the road, being in the moment. Covid stopped s lot of my adventures but more is coming, I will bike this year in Gotland, Hungary, and next year Japan.
Such a lovely balance of experiences and imagery. Thank you for showing the difficulties as well as the triumphs of your journey. It is easy to romanticize cycle touring on social media, but the reality is so much more challenging - but also rewarding - when taken as a whole. Looking forward to your next chapter. Safe journeys.

That last minute save was amazing, that would be terrible having to go back that road. I had navigation systems doing that to me too, its like they conspire to get us lost in the woods sometimes. What system were you using? Did you end up changing? I use Komoot, i like it, but its not immune to these kinds of errors. For my next trip i will keep an eye on the Strava heatmap, it shows where people ride the most, if there is a track where "nobody" has passed before, probably its best to avoid it.
Yeah, that was a rough day indeed ;-) In that episode we tried to use Osmand for the first and last time. We mostly use Komoot for planning these days, but as we are much further east now, usually the simplest app will do, as there is usually just one road you can take anyways.
Crikey that ride definitely qualifies as bloody hard yakka, in other words bloody hard work but well done👍👍This bit of advice may be a little late. I think its pretty obvious that each night after a hard days riding in camp your carrying a lot of very, sore, tired and probably cramping leg, shoulder and back muscles. A good relaxing massage with a Chinese Liniment called Wood Lock will fix things nicely. With out a doubt this is the best Liniment. I've been using it for over 30 years and everyone I've recommended it to swear by its incredible sore muscle relaxant. Its very strong so don't put your fingers near your eyes as it'll irritate them badly. After giving those sore muscle a good massage with Wood Lock in the evening next morning all soreness will be gone. It's also very good for sprained ankles and inflamed knee muscles. I'm writing from my home in Phnom Penh Cambodia where today we pay USD7.00 for a 50ml bottle. A friend of mine recently bought some from an Asian products shop in the Netherlands and paid 15 Eur for it. 50ml will last for weeks. You only use a few drops each time. Great video of your trip. Keep up the good work. .Mathias you may need to chuck away that bike computer of yours 🙃🙃and buy a new, up to date model.👍👍

We already skipped the navigation app that we used at the French Riviera. It's called OsmAnd. The POI function is pretty good for finding drinking water, but the navigation is lacklustre. Amazing footage mindblowing scenery and those sunrises with spectacular coulors the music was matched perfectly I could feel the vibrations going right through my soul..good on you guys you just have to keep going around and around the world now because we cant ever lose "amazing world bike tour" also what a life and journey Nathalie and Alain have had truly inspirational what an amazing couple goes to show never give in or give up just keep.moving

In both of these cities we found hosts via the platform www.warmshowers.org There is a one time registration fee and then it is free. Works of the basic principle like Couchsurfing but for cyclists.
It looks like you are having lots of 'type 2' fun, and enjoying the challenges. Some maps apps are better than others and allow you to chose different types of bike path. I now avoid unpaved/gravel routes near where I live, bicause they are just too rough for a loaded tourbike. I use the tourbike or the roadbike options depending on what the app has. I see lots of comments about Googlemaps also leading people onto terrible paths. Before you delete OSMand, I would keep it for a while, just to see if its POI info is better.
We learned something knew here. But indeed, you are absolutely right, we have a lot of "type 2" fun! That day we tried OsmAnd for navigation for a first and likely last time. We like the POI thing to find water and public restrooms though. That is actually brilliant. For route planning we will go back and use Komoot again!

In this case that was OsmAnd. It directed us to a mountainbike downhill track and later on a hiking path.

Wonderful videos. How do you deal with your wet shoes? Are your feet always wet?
Fortunately not. We did our best to avoid rainy weather as much as we could and had very little rain since Greece.

Hey Paul. Yes we did that before actually, but you can't offline navigate with it unless you preplanned. That is why we gave OsmAnd a try.
