Listening to the music in this single clip jump between so many different Mario tracks goes to show how much music Mario has to offer
Illumination: How much Mario Music do you want 8n the game
Koji Kondo: Yes
@@bemasaberwyn55 Illumination and Nintendo: how much of a banger to you want the soundtrack to b-
Koji Kondo and Bryan Tyler: Y E S

@@bemasaberwyn55 yep
Can we all agree that both Brain Tyler and Koji Kondo are knocking it out of the park with the score!! 👌 🔥🔥 So pumped to see The Mario Movie!!
I don't know. Can we?👨🏫
Of course we can!!
Absolutely
This whole scene is nothing but I candy to any Mario fan
Along with so much goddamn ear candy, it's giving me a cavity.
There is also a very subtle 3 note reference to the underwater theme right when the cheep cheep starts squinting at Mario
2:22 It’s actually an NES cartridge while the Red Toad (Shop Owner) giving the Yellow Toad advice to blow into it. Sounds like a thing back in our 80s childhoods
You can hear Chris Pratt's Brooklyn Accent when Mario runs across the bricks, So It's not just his voice.
There are references to every mario game, everywhere you look. And I think the score so far is amazing.
Chris Pratt sounded great here.
@@scottchaison1001 agreed
@@scottchaison1001 AGREED. I was shocked
4:03 Could also be a reference to Golden Dash Mushrooms from Mario Kart!
Great analysis, this movie is chock-full of reference not only in the visuals, but also in the music and I absolutely love it!
The animation is gorgeous and I can’t wait to see the rest and more, it will be so much fun when it comes out~🎵
I took the “Just have to blow into it” line as a nod to how NES and SNES game cartridges would sometimes get dust in them and have to be blown into to work.
Yeah. I do think they purposely made that reference there.
I think that was also Charles the og mario voice actor playing the shop keeper.
3:23 I think it's moreso the Athletic theme than the Overworld theme cuz of the key the music is in.
this is a dream come true as a lifelong Mario fan, the amount of references crammed into this 1 minute of animation makes so much more excited than before, and Chris Pratt actually sounds pretty good in this scene.
This is the same guy who composed Transformers Prime
2:20 I'm pretty sure those are the Yellow Switch Blocks from Super Mario World after being activated on the Switch Palace.
I can’t wait to listen to the movie soundtrack when the film releases.
Best analysis I’ve seen
Why is no one talking about the Toad from the antique shop sounding a lot like Charles Martinet?
Maybe that’s the cameo voice Charles is doing
When the music hits the feels just right...
i like the brief underwater melody when the cheep cheep goes past mario
and another bit of audio trivia: that's Charles Martinet (OG Mario) as the Antique Shop owner, I'm pretty sure
another thing is when the toad with the fish in the bag walks past mario you can hear a bit of the underwater theme from smb1
When one of the toads asks “Dose this thing work?” The other toad replies “yeah, you just gotta blow on it” that might be a reference to the old NES cartridges
3:33 OH MY GOD HE DOES
Like, that’s not even a stretch!!
3:56 The trees that are lined along the path are the same ones seen in Super Mario 64.
wait wtf that attention to detail to line up the trees the same way as the first time you see them in 3D
Im going to make a bingo card for other music tracks I expect/want to hear, [that We haven’t heart properly yet] So far my picks are:
Underground theme
Come on! (Mario and Luigi superstar saga) [in Brooklyn]
Map theme.
Dire dire docks (SM64)
Gusty Garden Galaxy(SMG)
Superstar theme
Slide theme
Peach’s castle
I really like this Idea I might just do the same, just look up all the games with Koji Kondo and add each one to my bingo
The soundtrack for this movie is going to absolute bliss for any Mario fan that's for sure
the music that reveals peach's castle sounds like the orchestral remix of "Breakout" in borderline forever
2:21 The beakers from Super Mario Bros. 2
The music at the end of the trailer is most likely Sky Station Galaxy from Mario Galaxy 2
God there are so many details
You missed the underground theme when Mario was walking across the bricks
if the whole score is like this, riddled with game music, I'll be so happy.
I'm picturing Koji Kondo and Bryan Tyler taking 11 or so iconic bowser/castle themes and making that the final battle music.
honestly thought they wouldnt even reference the newer mario games like odyssey and 3d world, but they did
Music ahh i love the ending song and of zoa man himself
2:04 blows my mind
The music is going to be the cherry on top for the movie overall :3
2:25 I always interpreted the old toad's words as talking about the flute from SMB3, it just doesn't make any sense to think he was talking about NES cartridges or cartridges in general. I'm open to believe, however, that it has a second meaning, but then again, since it's an antique shop that specifically sells items from games such as SMB3 and SMW, it just makes sense it's the flute.
Double meaning….
…they… They referenced Paper Mario 64 npcs… I’m so happy…
movie is great perfect
I am very much looking forward to the passion poured into this movie, including the future development of the Mario series. Personally, I'm looking forward to the day when Donkey Kong becomes playable in the main game of Mario with this movie as an opportunity.
The toad in the antiques shop is holding an NES cartridge. He asks the shop owner if it works and he says to 'blow in it', which is a refrence to having to blow in NES cartridges if they didn't work.
The run mario does is also in Kingdom battle and Sparks of Hope
The music will be the best part of the movie
This movie is gonna be peak
No one got the reference or maybe I’m going nuts. When he said does this thing work and the other toad says why yes you have to blow into it, I think that’s a reference to the nes cartridge not working and whenever u blowed into it, it would work.
2:21 are these the door potions from Mario 2??
They did marios dumpy dirty 😩
Let go
4:14 Song?
Double Cherry Pass from Super Mario 3D World!! Song is a banger
0:48
All these Mario leitmotifs and references are top-notch! No wonder why Koji Kondo composed a Mario Theme and Bryan Tyler arranged it.
I feel like with how this movie is going to sound with Chris Pratt playing the main character, I'm still more excited about the soundtrack more than anything else about this movie. I mean, WOW. Anytime Mario dives into orchestra I'm absolutely in and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope already spoiled us this year, so we video game music fans are eating GOOD right now.
Chris Pratt sounded great here.
I got excited too. but a little too much excitement as I couldn't control myself.
At 0:49 i swear you can hear Charles say something as a background toad
Bc he is.
This movie is literally perfection, I can not wait until April 7th!!! 🍄⭐️
there are so many Easter eggs on everything in the mushroom kingdom! Including the music!
I feel like the Peach's Castle and Cascade Kingdom ones are a bit of a stretch, but still cool that you pointed out stuff that I don't think other RUclipsrs have yet.
Very good analysis, caught a lot of things I missed!
Same! Everyone talks about how good it looks but no one talking about how good it SOUNDS
Where did you get the "Bah" sound effects from ? Without the full Overworld theme music
I feel like the second coin sound effect is closer to the one from Mario Galaxy
This is the most insane trailer of all time
Omg shockhat
Honestly it's sad that Sonic got the generic isekai into the human world treatment instead of this
Please ilumination... let this movie be good.
I think the red Toad at the antique shop is voiced by Charles Martinet though I'm not too sure
Good stuff man
god the music is so fucking good
Is athletic smw
Koji Kondo and Brian Tyler trying not to team up and make an absolute banger challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Okay, the only *confirmed* musical references (because they're quite obvious) in this clip are the Toad House music from Mario 3, the regular World 1-1 Mario theme, Bob-omb Battlefield, and the Super Mario World theme.
Everything else you keep pointing out is quite a stretch, and it sounds like you're looking for references that really aren't there. The beginning, for example, is just three notes… those three notes, out of context, could be literally anything. Just because it bears a vague resemblance to Cascade Kingdom doesn't mean it's a deliberate reference. Again, three notes is very little to go off of out of context… it could be *ANYTHING.* To me, it sounds like it's just a generic musical cue to accompany the clip of them showing the zoomed out image of the Mushroom Kingdom. Because this is the Mushroom Kingdom, it would seem rather inappropriate for them to deliberately reference Cascade Kingdom (the level with the dinosaurs).
Also, the melody when they arrive at Peach's Castle sounds absolutely nothing like "Inside the Castle Walls" from Super Mario 64. Orchestration sounds similar to the Odyssey arrangement, but that doesn't mean it's referencing it at all.
The underwater theme briefly plays when they show the cheep cheep
