I actually like the idea at 1:46. I think there should legitimately be a level making/generating video game where you're able to give a description containing no more than 200 words. An alternate method of doing this could be to provide a list or menu so that people could select things they want to see generated in the level.
Rejected: Thunder Bros! They don’t hurt you in game, but they play an ear splitting sound that may make you go deaf if you don’t mute your Nintendo in time!
Idea: a brand new power-up! Called the dino 'shroom. This power-up will turn Mario into a Triceratops and now we will have a stamina and now you can press A to charge up and knock everything in your path! If the stamina runs out you will take damage and the power-up will be gone.
Rejected update: Fuzzies! As in the ones from Yoshi’s Island. If you touch one, the screen will get wobbly. The more fuzzies you touch, the more wobbly the screen will become. Touch too many fuzzies, and you literally won’t be able to tell anything that’s happening!
Idea: People are accidentally throwing their switches away and losing progress in a level. So now when you play the game, your hands will be glued to the system so you won't lose any progress.

Idea: more Blinking Block Variants - You can make it bigger - You can make it smaller - Make it a blast block (the blocks from blast block skyway/champions road) - Make it a turbo block (changes every 0.001 seconds)

Except the Switch doesn't have a microphone, so I GUESS IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING AND MARIO DIES ANYWAY.
The fan power up it blows enemies away whenever you press down, but also pushes you back, and only blows enemies in the direction you are looking at. So it can push you into a hole and blow enemies away!
Rejected update: Lego power up turns you into Lego Mario, Lego Luigi, Lego toad, and Lego toadette and it can connect to the Lego Mario app on you phone/tablet plus you can also connect your Lego Mario figure to your switch and that is the only way to move your character in the game once you get this power up Edit: and if you don’t have the Lego figure of the character you have then you can’t move just think of how fun this would be 👍🏾

This could be paired with the reskin update to disguise it as anything. You can also make a one-sided your mom block, which bounces you to the start or end of the level depending on the side its a your mom block. Hope to get this added to the 21st installment on ths wonderful series!
Rejected Update Idea: reversed powerups. Unlike the original powerups, the reversed powerups do the exact opposite of what they usually do. The Reversed Super Mushroom can make you weaker instead of bigger and able to break bricks, the Reversed Cat Bell will turn you into Dog Mario instead of Cat Mario, and the Reversed Star will instantly kill you instead of making you Invincible. They also disguise as the original powerups so It’ll be very fun figuring out which one is the real one. This totally won’t make anybody unsatisfied. (You can apply reversed powerups to enemies as well)
I got a probably TRULY rejected update, i.e. one Nintendo likely really considered and rejected: Chucks from SMW. - Football chucks. - Baseball chucks. - Charging chucks. - Jumping chucks. - Splitting chucks. - Mecha Chuckzilla: enemy stack of some launchers, shoes, mechakoopas, all the chucks and a Bowser on top. Throws baseballs, footballs, cannonballs, bullet bills, rockets, electric sparks, hammers, shells and fire at you while jumping when you jump, charging at you, clapping and splitting. Of course, when a splitting chuck splits into three, all enemies stacked on top of it get triplicated too. Stack of 5 splitting chucks makes a whopping 363 enemies! For extra fun, do this in SMB1 style and have Mario take a SMB2 mushroom and stand on top of a splitting chuck. Now three Marios! What could possibly go wrong...
Rejected Update: A new enemy called, “Little Timmy.” Unlike most enemies that focuses on messing with Mario, Little Timmy focuses on messing with your level. It would add naked pipes, kaizo blocks, spam enemies, etc. Oh, and once you place it, no matter what you try to do, you can’t erase Little Timmy.
Rejected update: deadly time coins: if you get one of these you Will have to get the other coins in less than 10 seconds It is like the red coins from super Mario 3D games but if you dont get them in time you will get an ista-kill Which means that if you get a coin at the start of the level and there is one at the final you will have to rush And it looks exactly as a normal coin so you wont know which one you have to get

With a special homing thwomp that you have to have in your level that is normally sleeping but A. 100 steps B. 5 jumps Or C. 1 sound effect (or contraption in a level) Can wake it up. Only walls can stop it and it's 2X bigger than normal thwomps. Speaking of contraption, the new contraption detector detects anything that seems complicated, has an activator, and is off limits to the player as a contraption. And it activating immediately wakes up the thwomp
Rejected idea update: last time, we made it so that when you play mm2, your switch gets coated in dragonite, but now, some people don't even own mario maker! So, we made sure that you legally must own a copy of mm2 and play it daily.
Rejected update: We all know how annoying it is to run out of room in a level, so we're adding, the clock power-up. It looks like a clock and when you pick it up, all time slows down, even real time it's self.
Rejected idea:the overheat flower. It looks just like the fire flower, but when Mario touches it, it will overheat your switch, causing you to be kicked out of the game. Isn’t that gonna make people confused?
Idea: spring power-up! Let me explain. Instead of jumping up and down with the spring power-up like in mario galaxy, the spring power-up will make mario able to shoot his spring off at his enemies! There are many variants of springs including: White spring: just the base spring, no effects attached to it, the metal spring: when mario shoots it, it will bounce kinda like a fireball from the fire flower(and it will be able to break brick and hard blocks), the green spring: it attaches to enemies after mario shoots it (instead of dying instantly the enemy will be poisoned for 4 seconds before dying), the purple spring: the purple spring is sticky and will attach to hard surfaces, but will just pull brick blocks back to shoot at enemies when mario uses it again(it can also be used as a bridge), the yellow spring: mario will shoot it up into the air before it dashes at enemies and electrocuting them if they are segmented or lined up, the red spring, which will ricochet off walls until it hits 10 walls in a row and will pass through enemies, defeating them; next up is the blue spring! Mario will shoot the blue spring and the blue spring is big(it will destroy brick blocks and those hard blocks), and finally, the orange spring! It just does double damage and breaks flammable blocks like bridges, brick blocks and clouds. Enemy springs(they drop their respective power-up after being defeated) (optional): the white one just bounces towards mario and can be defeated by normal means and(getting stomped on, getting fireballed, getting hit by a shell, etc), the metal enemy one (can only be defeated by super stars), the purple one will use itself as a bridge and will let enemies jump over gaps with it (and also if there ar no enemies near by it will just retract onto the other side), the green one just jumps onto mario, making mario get hurt in 5 seconds, unless he jumps or fireballs them, the red spring will ricochet around the room until it hits mario(it can only be killed by shells, spring power-ups, but not stomps and fireballs), the yellow one will zip right at mario like lightning, getting defeated in the process, the blue one which just has a bigger hitbox, the fire one will just do double damage to mario. that's all(I think).
Rejected update: We are all tired of having only 91 power- ups, and that's the reason why il'd like to add DANCING MUSHROOMS!!! When you collect one, mario starts dancing in a random way, and everything he touches starts dancing too.

1:30 This is the best addition I've seen so far. This addition will make the game very difficult and open up a very deep field for making endless stages of ideas. Being a creator while playing. the stage is amazing
New spinoff: super roblox maker two! mario is turned into roblox himself, luigi is builderman, toad is a guest, and toadette is a female guest, the overworld theme is a baseplate, a castle theme is sword fight on the heights, the underwater theme will have roblox physics and make you float up! Snow will have white sand, jungle will have treehouse free models in the background, sky will have random clouds from roblox, Space will be pitch black and have the moon in the background, etc.
Idea: Strange timer. The timer shows a set number but actually kills you when it gets to a random number. Example: the timer says 400 seconds but when it reaches 300 you die
Not sure if this has been done already but inverted power-ups. Throwing a fire ball as fire Mario sets Mario on fire. Frog suit swims slower in water. Trying to fly as propeller Mario will propel him downward etc.

Also, the top of the flower will be magenta and pink instead of Red and Orange. Now for Plug Bros, they’re like fire Bros but instead of red shell and Helmet, pink shell and Helmet. And like Plug Mario, magenta balls of electricity. (Pink like cotton candy pink)
Rejected update: Rain Mode (picture of umbrella) Works on all styles and themes, including underwater and castle night themes. Rain falls on the player at random times and speed, but if the rain overflows your screen, your switch dies off when wet. Be careful when reaching the goal pole to make a rainbow appear 😅🎉😂
We’ve tried everything to stop players exiting a level, from removing the pause button, to coating the switch in an unbreakable metal. Now, we need to stop people from letting their console run out of battery. Introducing: The SMM2 Power Generator! SMM2 won’t start unless it’s plugged into your switch and running, and your game will freeze if you unplug it. Hooray! Now there’s REALLY no way to quit the level!
btw idk if u have done this before Rejected Idea: Bullet Thwomp. Desc: when this thwomp gets triggered it will chase you down like the frog suit and its color is red We know that thwomp are just so easy to dodge, and there are some people that like a challenge.

Slow Thwomp: moves 10 pixels in 1 second
Rejected Update: The your mom block, one you hit it, its so fat you bounce to the start of the end of the level, breaking everything in your path, including the goal post and the level borders, or up or down (up you go to space, down you go to the core of the planet), depending on where you hit it. This could be paired with the reskin update to disguise it as anything. You can also make a one-sided your mom block, which bounces you to the start or end of the level depending on the side its a your mom block. Hope to get this added to the 21st installment on ths wonderful series!
Rejected Update Idea: reversed powerups.
Unlike the original powerups, the reversed powerups do the exact opposite of what they usually do. The Reversed Super Mushroom can make you weaker instead of bigger and able to break bricks, the Reversed Cat Bell will turn you into Dog Mario instead of Cat Mario, and the Reversed Star will instantly kill you instead of making you Invincible. They also disguise as the original powerups so It’ll be very fun figuring out which one is the real one. This totally won’t make anybody unsatisfied. (You can apply reversed powerups to enemies as well)
Rejected Update Idea: Scripulous fingore
When Mario touches the Scripulous fingore, he gets killed instantly.
I got a probably TRULY rejected update, i.e. one Nintendo likely really considered and rejected: Chucks from SMW.
- Football chucks.
- Baseball chucks.
- Charging chucks.
- Jumping chucks.
- Splitting chucks.
- Mecha Chuckzilla: enemy stack of some launchers, shoes, mechakoopas, all the chucks and a Bowser on top. Throws baseballs, footballs, cannonballs, bullet bills, rockets, electric sparks, hammers, shells and fire at you while jumping when you jump, charging at you, clapping and splitting.
Of course, when a splitting chuck splits into three, all enemies stacked on top of it get triplicated too. Stack of 5 splitting chucks makes a whopping 363 enemies!
For extra fun, do this in SMB1 style and have Mario take a SMB2 mushroom and stand on top of a splitting chuck. Now three Marios! What could possibly go wrong...
Phase Mushroom: Makes Mario able to phase through anything, including the ground!
That will be so much fun.
Rejected update: Spikes (enemy) can throw spikes in both directions.
Rejected Update: A new enemy called, “Little Timmy.” Unlike most enemies that focuses on messing with Mario, Little Timmy focuses on messing with your level. It would add naked pipes, kaizo blocks, spam enemies, etc. Oh, and once you place it, no matter what you try to do, you can’t erase Little Timmy.
Rejected Update: Orange Mushroom. If Mario eats it he’ll blow it up & he’ll start farting until he dies. Mario will die after the 10th fart.
Rejected update: deadly time coins: if you get one of these you Will have to get the other coins in less than 10 seconds
It is like the red coins from super Mario 3D games but if you dont get them in time you will get an ista-kill
Which means that if you get a coin at the start of the level and there is one at the final you will have to rush
And it looks exactly as a normal coin so you wont know which one you have to get

Can wake it up. Only walls can stop it and it's 2X bigger than normal thwomps. Speaking of contraption, the new contraption detector detects anything that seems complicated, has an activator, and is off limits to the player as a contraption. And it activating immediately wakes up the thwomp
Rejected idea update: last time, we made it so that when you play mm2, your switch gets coated in dragonite, but now, some people don't even own mario maker! So, we made sure that you legally must own a copy of mm2 and play it daily.

We all know how annoying it is to run out of room in a level, so we're adding, the clock power-up. It looks like a clock and when you pick it up, all time slows down, even real time it's self.
Rejected update: The Electric block when you hit it you get electrocute by it.
Rejected idea:the overheat flower. It looks just like the fire flower, but when Mario touches it, it will overheat your switch, causing you to be kicked out of the game. Isn’t that gonna make people confused?
Idea: spring power-up!
Let me explain. Instead of jumping up and down with the spring power-up like in mario galaxy, the spring power-up will make mario able to shoot his spring off at his enemies! There are many variants of springs including: White spring: just the base spring, no effects attached to it, the metal spring: when mario shoots it, it will bounce kinda like a fireball from the fire flower(and it will be able to break brick and hard blocks), the green spring: it attaches to enemies after mario shoots it (instead of dying instantly the enemy will be poisoned for 4 seconds before dying), the purple spring: the purple spring is sticky and will attach to hard surfaces, but will just pull brick blocks back to shoot at enemies when mario uses it again(it can also be used as a bridge), the yellow spring: mario will shoot it up into the air before it dashes at enemies and electrocuting them if they are segmented or lined up, the red spring, which will ricochet off walls until it hits 10 walls in a row and will pass through enemies, defeating them; next up is the blue spring! Mario will shoot the blue spring and the blue spring is big(it will destroy brick blocks and those hard blocks), and finally, the orange spring! It just does double damage and breaks flammable blocks like bridges, brick blocks and clouds.
Enemy springs(they drop their respective power-up after being defeated) (optional): the white one just bounces towards mario and can be defeated by normal means and(getting stomped on, getting fireballed, getting hit by a shell, etc), the metal enemy one (can only be defeated by super stars), the purple one will use itself as a bridge and will let enemies jump over gaps with it (and also if there ar no enemies near by it will just retract onto the other side), the green one just jumps onto mario, making mario get hurt in 5 seconds, unless he jumps or fireballs them, the red spring will ricochet around the room until it hits mario(it can only be killed by shells, spring power-ups, but not stomps and fireballs), the yellow one will zip right at mario like lightning, getting defeated in the process, the blue one which just has a bigger hitbox, the fire one will just do double damage to mario. that's all(I think).
Rejected update: custom sound affects you can record your own or add a sound file. We are positive that nothing bad will happen with this addition

We are all tired of having only 91 power- ups, and that's the reason why il'd like to add DANCING MUSHROOMS!!! When you collect one, mario starts dancing in a random way, and everything he touches starts dancing too.

"Variety Packs (name placeholder)", taking old and new rejected updates and twisting them in a way that could work wonders! Also, add a boomerang mushroom that also kills the user if it hits them
1:30 This is the best addition I've seen so far. This addition will make the game very difficult and open up a very deep field for making endless stages of ideas. Being a creator while playing. the stage is amazing
New spinoff: super roblox maker two! mario is turned into roblox himself, luigi is builderman, toad is a guest, and toadette is a female guest, the overworld theme is a baseplate, a castle theme is sword fight on the heights, the underwater theme will have roblox physics and make you float up! Snow will have white sand, jungle will have treehouse free models in the background, sky will have random clouds from roblox,
Space will be pitch black and have the moon in the background, etc.
the ideas of inverted-night snow and desert as well as homing skewers (if done right) actually sounds fun

2017 theme: makes everything into something from 2017
Idea: Strange timer. The timer shows a set number but actually kills you when it gets to a random number. Example: the timer says 400 seconds but when it reaches 300 you die
Not sure if this has been done already but inverted power-ups. Throwing a fire ball as fire Mario sets Mario on fire. Frog suit swims slower in water. Trying to fly as propeller Mario will propel him downward etc.
Rejected update: clear condition of beat the level while petting your cat
Rejected Update: We're introducing a new course theme: Void! In this course theme, Mario will float around in the void and there is nothing you can do about it. How fun!
Idea: Plug Flower and Plug Bros. It’s like the fire flower but instead of white shirt and hat, pink shirt and hat and instead of balls of fire, it’s magenta balls of electricity. Also, the top of the flower will be magenta and pink instead of Red and Orange. Now for Plug Bros, they’re like fire Bros but instead of red shell and Helmet, pink shell and Helmet. And like Plug Mario, magenta balls of electricity. (Pink like cotton candy pink)
Rejected update: Rain Mode (picture of umbrella)
Works on all styles and themes, including underwater and castle night themes.
Rain falls on the player at random times and speed, but if the rain overflows your screen, your switch dies off when wet. Be careful when reaching the goal pole to make a rainbow appear 😅🎉😂
We’ve tried everything to stop players exiting a level, from removing the pause button, to coating the switch in an unbreakable metal. Now, we need to stop people from letting their console run out of battery. Introducing: The SMM2 Power Generator! SMM2 won’t start unless it’s plugged into your switch and running, and your game will freeze if you unplug it. Hooray! Now there’s REALLY no way to quit the level!
