Make sure you join our fantasy LCS league by this friday if you want to play against me! - draftbuff.com/royale/join/cab40a34-6488-4899-b9c8-39ef920e13de Really excited to finally get this video out as I've been working on it for a while. The early history of League of Legends Esports always fascinated me. I loved some of the big pro player personalities from those days and hope I can give them some well deserved praise for their contributions to the story behind the lol competitive scene.
I’ve loved your channel since my first video “league is a game of swing” and my favorite videos are the spoon review and you eating a sock, because it shows the kind of person you are, and also that you’re loyal, and honest, and you’d never go back on a promise. I haven’t watched your content in a while because I stopped playing league, but I still love the YOU on your RUclips channel, and whenever I think of league youre synonymous with all of it, so I played 1 match after 9 months and I can’t avoid coming back here. You are the best. Keep making cool shit, and keep being REAL. Love ya Gbae 😂 see you around
love these documentaries gbay :) wouldn't be shocked to see a genuine network pick you up to document league history and players through the ages; thank you for your hard work! :D
It's somehow sad that this video didn't get as much views as others from this channel. These kind of players deserve more recognition, to be honest I haven't heard of any of them before watching this (only the name of Manyreason from other video from this very channel). Thank you for sharing!
As someone who has been playing/watching since season 2, I'm super glad you make these historic documentaries to give players/teams the credit that they deserve.
Man I thought this was going to be a bunch of obscure players form like the first LCS season. Players like CruzerTheBruzer/SychoSid/NintendudeX who most people don't really know in the scene but man you pulled out some obscure ones I've never heard of. You constantly surprise me, love your content and keep it up!
Awesome video. Really cool to see xHazzard featured as he was the one that got me to play top lane all those years ago after being a jungle main first when I saw him stomp with nidalee
RUclips stopped my notifications on your videos. I thought you quit making videos. im happy i whent through and was clearing out subscriptions and clicked on your channel to see if you made any more videos. im gona binge watch you dude.
I'm so glad you highlighted xHazzard. His Malphite play that tourney actually signaled a huge meta shift in League overall as it was the first big showcase of Malphite's potential after they buffed the missile speed on his ultimate. Malphite went from not all that popular to being a must pick / ban in lower elo and one of the most feared "bronzodia" champs for literally years and xHazzard was the player that showed the world the insane engage potential of that buffed ultimate.
I would love a video on Darien, the guy who was known to be one of the best toplaners of earlier seasons, who was known for weird picks, even weirder builds and having one of the most entertaining personalities in the league scene.
Extinkt , the midlander for curse eu during season 2 was amazing. The team disappeared before lcs eu started but that guy was great. I remember him crushing on vayne mid.
I really wish you'd become an LCS Analyst/Caster. I think your voice is incredible and I can't imagine the type of things you'd be able to do and come up with would be fire. Nonetheless, keep doing what you love best. Thanks for the great content!
Seeing that intro, I still dont get why they changed the goddamn logo of the game. The old one still looked modern, but most important it was iconic and just perfect. New one looks like one of those colorful fonts from MS Paint
Because the old logo looks like a nerdy Dungeons and Dragons guidebook and the new one looks like something you can slap on a mobile game. In short, they changed the Logo because it is better for marketing.
As someone playing shortly after Beta-Status ended and always followed the competitive scene of league, i always enjoy your documentations on the beggings of league! Such a nice throwback to an much easier time in life, when all was so new and nobody knew where this game would all of us take us.
Bitter sweet hearing these things. A lot of these talented players had to make some tough choices. School and cosistency or risk it for competitive play. At the time salaries werent a thing and neither was sponsorships. Winnings barely covered expenses doe traveling. Players had to stream full time to make ends meet while living in dorm rooms, apartments, or at home. Scarra has some great stories about that time.
Not a pro, but it always bums me out how people never talk about LS as an example of what you're talking about. Went from literally homeless, living on the streets of a foreign country, to one of the most successful minds in the game
Fuuuck I am just binging your content from old league where I am from. I quit league years ago but follow the pro side very lightly, mostly only Worlds. It's a nostalgia run to hear names of players I used to know in League's infancy.
Just saying that i love and admire you, Gbay, as a friend that i wish were closer to me. Whenever you show up, which is not that often, i always feel happy. If you have this type of childhood friend, you know what i'm talking about. Wish the best to you
Great vid Gbay! Some other names I think that could be applicable to this video: ParadoXical: Team Dynamic's super young mid laner in 2012/2013. He was extremely young and really good at mid for his age, I thought he was gonna be a fixture in the NA scene for a long time, but that spot ended up going to his teammate ZionSpartan/Darshan. His Cassiopeia was probably the best at NA from what I remember, back when she was considered kind of a weak champion. Super versatile as well, could play all sorts of AP champions in the mid lane CitizenWayne (you can include the entire 2012 Na'Vi squad as a what-if here, but CitizenWayne was their best player): For around 8 months in 2012, Na'Vi was consistently competing with the best teams in Europe like M5, CLG.EU and Fnatic, and CitizenWayne was the main engine before them. If I'm not mistaken, he was a super pubstar in Season 1 that translated to the pro scene with proficiency in lots of poke mages like Ziggs, Lux, and especially his AP Kog'Maw which was a CitizenWayne classic. Super fun player to watch, I thought he was gonna be someone bigger. Lantyr: Taiwanese Lee Sin main considered the best Lee Sin in Taiwan back in Season 2/3. He's pretty much the first person on RUclips to actually post the Insec (google his name and the video will come out), which is why a lot of old-school Taiwanese fans want to call the Insec the "Lantyr" instead. Popped off on AHQ before they got Mountain and made it to Worlds. Not the super-best player, but one who has a legacy as a Lee Sin main. Harleluyar: Pretty much the 2nd best Singaporean player after Chawy, who is your favorite player. Do-it-all jungler who represented the GPL in numerous all-star competitions, I felt like this dude was a world-class jungler watching him on SGS along with Chawy, and he was the best jungler in SEA (outside TPA junglers) for a looong time from 2011-2013.
Man I watch all your videos and RUclips didn’t even tell me you posted a new video what a bummer. If it weren’t for your survey post I wouldn’t have even got to see this gem.
Ya know, im not actually a big Esports fan, but i really enjoy listening to Gbay talk about league's history. Would you ever consider explaining champion lore? Or talking more directly about the game, like game modes, skins, champs?
Hey Gbay, I've been subbed for a long time with bell notif. I haven't gotten a single bell notif in almost a year and have just seen your most revent videos by searching up your channel mannually to check if you died or something. Nonetheless, good video but weird youtube algorithm at the moment.
I'd love to see you cover CaliTrollz. Honestly he was even better than Hauntzer right before the latter went to TSM, and retired to pursue schooling. Could have gone down as one of the best NA tops ever.
Probably happened too late, but one of the biggest what ifs for me will always be ZoroZero. So much raw talent but stopped just a tiny bit too early :(
I wanna know about the pros newest to the game. From videos it always seems like the biggest names have been playing since S1, and maybe it's true, but it would be interesting to hear about newer pros

Is there an LEC league? I’d love to join

I think at 14:00 you made a mistake saying Azubu teams dominated "season 1" and almost winning worlds when that was season 2. But awesome video
@@S1mthi There are a bunch of other LEC leagues to join, just check the Draft Royale section!
Gbay i'm gonna keep comenting until You make a video about PEX
Gbay has really become a League of Legends historian
While Exil is a Champion historian.
Can I study that subject anywhere?
All they need now is sponsorships from Raid Shady Legends and Ray's Con
exil and gbay are literally league's historians
Well he could never make it past diamond 3 soooo....
Jkjk I know he’s better than most of us will ever be
as a League Boomer I love these throwbacks
Even non League Boomers love them.
I am starting to feel like an old man shouting at children to get off my Summoners Rift Halloween Map.
Feel so old, I checked Elementz youtube to see the last time he played, an Chauster.
Proud to be supporting Gbay again! Good luck everyone in your Fantasy leagues and hope you have fun this season :)
Every time gbay has a sponsor in his video it fills me with so much joy! So glad your hard work is paying off, buddy
This is the shit I love to see. Inject it into my eyes
This was in my recommendations and it was posted literally 2 minutes ago nice
love these documentaries gbay :) wouldn't be shocked to see a genuine network pick you up to document league history and players through the ages; thank you for your hard work! :D
Never in my life i thought someone from my country would have been big in League. Respect to Lapaka
It's somehow sad that this video didn't get as much views as others from this channel. These kind of players deserve more recognition, to be honest I haven't heard of any of them before watching this (only the name of Manyreason from other video from this very channel). Thank you for sharing!
Finally RUclips works and sent me the damn notification for your latest doc
I'm hella pumped!
All these old names. I remember some of them from when i started playing back in season 3. Another good doc Gbay :) i look forward to the next one
As someone who has been playing/watching since season 2, I'm super glad you make these historic documentaries to give players/teams the credit that they deserve.

I love this type of content the most out of any LoL content. Keep it up Gbay 👑
I'm really enjoying these 20-30 minute videos. Not too long, but long enough to tell a good story. Keep up the good work.
Quite nostalgic seeing some of these clips... Good job gbay, as always
Wow, actually did not know Steve was a pro player.
Why do you think we meme #paidbysteve
@@Griffin그리핀 that has nothing to do with him previously being a pro player lmao

Lapaka leaving the NA scene is the reason NA can't win international titles anymore :'(
Nice job again Gbay, love the length and quality of these!
god seeing screencaps of the old league forums really brought back some memories. i miss them so much
I would love a video on Darien, the guy who was known to be one of the best toplaners of earlier seasons, who was known for weird picks, even weirder builds and having one of the most entertaining personalities in the league scene.
This was fantastic to watch through. Great job.

oh man, lapaka was really cool.
Well made and Insightful video dude! Really enjoyed it.
These videos are such bangers! Not sure if I can say that about anything but music. It feels appropriate anyway.
Bruh that CLG.eu vs CLG.na clip made my heart melt. these times were different!
Good times

Seeing that intro, I still dont get why they changed the goddamn logo of the game. The old one still looked modern, but most important it was iconic and just perfect. New one looks like one of those colorful fonts from MS Paint
Old logo is grander and daunting.
Because the old logo looks like a nerdy Dungeons and Dragons guidebook and the new one looks like something you can slap on a mobile game. In short, they changed the Logo because it is better for marketing.
