Gbay is one of the few content creators whose sponsored segments I listen to in their entirety. It's the best I can do in exchange for such consistently high quality content
Honestly big props to Bo for being honest. He realized that what he did was wrong and turned himself in and also helped the officials in the investigation, people really should be as honest as him.
Well the only reason he being honest is because of the manager from the gambling site threatening him with all of his evidence in the past, to do match-fixing again. Meanwhile, he is in FPX and doing a great job already. There is literally no option for him. He must commit what he did in the past or got manipulate
I'm like 95% sure thescore is gonna copy this in a week and do a story on how the LDL was suspended for 2 months due to matchfixing even though it's already back. Well made!
I'd just like to mention Bo was brought in to rotate in and out with Tian do to Tuan having developed Carpal Tunnel. Bo was the starter for most of spring and Tian played when they needed him to.
I wanna say thank you for making a Fantasy league for the community bc I always do predictions for myself and I would love to do a fantasy league but I got no friends to do it so thank you again, hope to have fun there!
Scary stuff for sure. I think they should make the severity/scope of the match fixing public so that people can see why the bans are as long or short as they are. Complete clarity is always gonna be better long term than things in the past like indefinite bans for toxicity etc.
Extra info: Bo was originally brought in by FPX to replace Tian, who was having mental health issues, so voluntarily benched himself. During his time in LDL on ESY, his coach was persuaded to match fix and find players. The coach coerced and forced three players, including Bo and rat (ES player), to match fix. During match day, rat reported sick, so didn't match fix, while Bo continued with the match fix. After coming to the LPL, he was threatened by the people that managed the match fixing to match fix on FPX, or else they'd expose him. He didn't want to match fix, and thus, decided to give himself in to Riot Officials, to hopefully lessen his punishment. As for the final punishment, some of the players have claimed that their bans were unfair; in particular, one of the players (can't remember his name) claimed to have only planned a match fix, but never went through with it. Nevertheless, he got a 16 month ban. However, some other players, who did match fix heavily, got only a 6 month ban. But it's hard to know what actually happened and who's telling the truth. Source: as a guy who just likes following Chinese LoL content, and understands Chinese, that's seen others talk about this.
IWD said on stream they matchfixed the tourney finals (I forget which one), planning to split the winnings with the other finalist team. He said it in the IWD reacts to GBay dignitas documentary
RUclipsrs often release their videos a few days before actually publishing it just to see if there are any copyright issues that might get them demonetized.
I really appreciate the cadency of this video, I've been watching for a couple years, and at first I always watched at 1.25x, but recently 1x is absolutely on tune
Hey good video Gbay, I actually expected you to touch on IBP throwing and getting banned for life from CSGO matches but instead learned something new about the "death of life" :D
Stuff like this can get really difficult to notice. There's a difference between obvious mistakes that the players usually never make but there's also the human error margin, sometimes you just slip up. I find it very interesting how you talk about this. You clearly aren't just like wow well fuck these people get em out, clearly there's a reason why this is happening. I dunno, I could just be reading into this too much but when Life (I think it was him?) held up the cup for winning the star craft tournament.. it almost felt like he looked at it and was wondering to himself; wow, I would've made more throwing 2 games. But would've that been worth it?... It makes so much sense now that I see the other side. Thanks Gbay! Keep up the good work :)
Great video as always GBay! And your point about losing the development leagues leads to the death of sports is highly accurate. Look at some of the start-up sports over the last couple of decades; they're all gone, because they never tried to start up these sort of leagues, and they eventually stagnated and went away.
This is actually smart from Bo. If he waited till later on to come clean then it could’ve changed how their potential worlds run goes. Obviously it will affect their run regardless, but at least this way Bo won’t have this over his head over his whole playing career
I have stopped playing league for a while now, I have not stopped watching your vids! Wishing you the best (Crossing fingers for the recovery with carpal tunnel!)
I like to play sports but not competitively. I appreciate you explaining the parallels with Esports and regular sports! The Score ESports needs someone like you lol.
These cases are always super interesting. Another very famous example is the IBuyPower throw in csgo which impacted the game so much that the effects of which are still being felt today, with all players banned (except for 1) for life locking the best NA talent out of even reaching his prime.
Matchmaking is definitely a very interesting and complicated topic. I feel like it's a concept that not everyone would know unless they are into sports or pretty much anything competitive and have a pretty large audience. When you think about it you could also say this concept existed since the beginning of competitiveness
"Shoeless" Joe Jackson is one of the best nicknames for a sports figure I have ever heard :D. Wiki says this about it: In an interview published in the October 1949 edition of Sport magazine, Jackson recalls he got his nickname during a mill game played in Greenville, South Carolina. Jackson had blisters on his foot from a new pair of cleats, which hurt so much that he took his shoes off before he was at bat. As play continued, a heckling fan noticed Jackson running to third base in his socks, and shouted "You shoeless son of a gun, you!" and the resulting nickname "Shoeless Joe" stuck with him throughout the remainder of his life.
Rogue vs G2 LEC Spring 2021 was the biggest inkognito matchfixing i have ever seen in esports. Okay maybe when Team Liquid eliminate iG from MSI. That was obv and people who watched were like its a miracleeeee!!!! Yea right, miracle.....
It's actually a good move by Bo to confess. If he kept it longer and other got caught then they snitched him, it would be a disaster for Bo and FPX. He knows that his spot in FPX is secured after their win streak, 3 months ban is a small price to pay.
do i care about the lpl? not remotely. am i a fan of competitive sports? absolutely not! but am i going to sit down and watch 20 minutes of gbay instead of studying for my exams? you bet!! you go gbay!! good stuff!!!!
maybe not as hard for Bo as the other players getting suspensions, though. Bo probably had the best position to do so, and I'd dare say he may have been somewhat backed by FPX to come clean
This was a good video. Maybe you could expand beyond just League history to cover recent news as well. As long as it's interesting, which this was, you should do it.
Finally someone is talking about this BO was literally the best jg in LPL FPX was on a 10 games win streak the moment they subbed him in And they started losing the moment he got suspended Tian played very well the playoffs so they at least secured top 2
Punishing the players, at least in the case of those baseball players in the intro, is utter bullSHIRT. They are being extorted by managers. This is like banning a music artist from performing for making money on the side while their record label paid them garbage. If blame exists, at least understand the weakest link haha
I remember a few months ago even solo queues in KR specially on Faker's games were subject to match fixing. Imagine betting on the GOAT's solo queue if he's gonna win or not and all those fixers/bettors who contacts Faker's teammates to throw the game.
the best part is, if Riot actually made an effort to curb the match fixing root issue, liek Monte or Thorin suggested, they could've made very clean league. Oh wait, they ignored them and made RL voldemort then came back as if they had a sudden epiphany out of nowhere, adopting their suggestions....
Best match fix ever was the pro aram game that took place in a finals (dont rememberwhich teams). Maybe not a match fix but as a spectator that was almost the best game to watch all tourney

Do you have a referral code?
A trick: you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Blake Case Yea, have been watching on flixzone} for since november myself :)
Happy to be supporting Gbay again! Good luck everyone and I hope you enjoy playing Fantasy during the MSI!
Gbay is the best. Glad you guys are supporting him. Best league documentary maker hands down

A snitch? Lol jk
No your right....snitch

@@cryitalzero yup he sold them out to save his own behind
he saved himself, before someone else does, he saw a good future for him so he didn't want a lifetime ban, he was never honest in the first place
