Thanks for doing these videos. Lots of people have made use of the x99 platform and are blown away when paured with a decent gpu and the turbos are unlocked. 1440p in a world where some people end up with a 3rd gen i3 and gt 710 that the games kids want wont even start has been a godsend as a cheap fix for these problems

Bad news from Brazil, now (15 october) all purchases over $50 are subject to an import tax directly on the website, similar to how VAT is charged. But here it is 92.7%...
    A 100$ product will now cost 192.7.
You can now buy a Motherboard for you and another motherboard for the government 🤡
In the past, there was a 5% chance of being arbitrarily taxed 55 USD upon arriving in the country.
Aliexpress brings some x99 mb's and gpus refurbished by the Chinese to warehouses here, they sell for around 25$ more. I really hope they increase/advance this business model, gets waaaaay more easily to get refunds returning the packet.
There is also discussion about selling coupons to artificially reduce the value of the product below 50 USD, so that the tax is reduced from 92.7 to 17%

They use as an excuse the method that has failed for 50 years to protect "local industry". The "local electronics industry" today is limited to buying products from AliBaba and reselling them here 🤡. Big companies can do this, the end consumer can no longer.

I assumed x99 cpu's with lower core count but higher clock speeds would generally always be better for gaming than the higher core count cpu's.
      Is this assumption incorrect?
I recently bought a xeon 2687w v3 due to its higher base clock and turbo clock speeds compared to most other x99 cpu's. Should I have gotten a 2667v3 or 2697v3 instead?
      Out of all the x99 cpu's i currently own(1650v3, 1660v3, 2643v3, 2687w v3, i7-5960x, and i7-6850k)
I seem to get better gaming performance from slightly overclocked 1650v3's and i7-5960x more than I do with the other cpu's i have.
I'm interested in a 1680v3 i found for a reasonable price but am a little concerned that my understanding of these cpu's gaming performance might be misguided.
Would someone care to help me understand how to get max performance from my x99 build and which cpu's i should be considering for gaming?

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  10 месяцев назад

@@T.Lspitz it's too much to cover in a comment, so please join my Discord for details, in general, cache size matters just as much as the clock frequency. The unlocked Xeons like E5-1650 V3 / E5-1660 V3 can potentially beat high-core count versions when overclocked, but Chinese X99 motherboards mostly don't support overclocking and the VRM is way too bad to supply enough power for these ultra-hungry chips.

It sounds like you have a safe setup. E5-2680 V4 is not too heavy on VRM and if your chassis has at least somehow decent vents for the airflow, four fans should be enough. If you want to be double sure, you can install a flower-like cooler so it also blows air to the VRM itself.

I wonder what you think of E5-2690 v4 vs E5-2697A v4. Looks like the 2690 v4 is ~30 Euros at the moment and should provide most of the performance of the 2697A and 2697 v4. They have very similar base and boost clocks, but the 2697A has two more cores (16C/32T vs 14C/28T). Also, for ultra budget, the 2680 v4 is under 15 Euros now, so it's cheaper than the 2697 v3 (but doesn't offer TBU, of course).

E5-2690 V4 is an interesting alternative, and E5-2680 V4 is also an option. I somehow missed that E5-2680 V4 went down in price so much, for $15 it's a good option for motherboards with bad VRM.

Weird to see Huananzhi doing some shady work with QD4, but if they are dumb enough to follow Jingsha, let them fall (they could have easily dominate the X99 market with that, shame)
Interesting too see AM4 and LGA1700, those prices are half and less compared to EU-market boards. I do suspect some price gouging by mainstream manufacturers, but if Maxsun can keep it steady, they could really turn out as a decent budget saver
GPUs: At least we can buy a decent one without giving a kidney on the counter. Crypto first, and now AI, are destroying the market
my 2 cent: it's 2023, almost 2024, and X99 is not dead. 60fps and not stuttery, heck I could even play 45 fps medium settings and lock it there. I'm not that very demanding. As long as it has solid 60 fps good enough for me. And is it optimize for windows 10 ?. Because it said that windows 11 don't support the cpu,so windows 10 it is.

Can you please recommend me a motherboard that has overclocking unlocked for the 2696v3 CPU? They recommended me the X99-AD4 but I saw someone overclocking the CPU with the HUANANZHI X99-8M-F. I don't know which one to pick.

It's not possible to overclock locked V3 Xeons with the CPU clock multiplier, no matter what motherboard you pick.

Or should I just get an MSi or branded 2011lga motherboard? I can't find any of the branded for gaming ones low as 120 dollars. No one wants to buy the branded lga 2011 motherboards so I'm asking the offline motherboard sellers to reduce the price by 50%.

@@kop7125 look, no one can every guarantee anything when it comes to the Chinese X99/X79 motherboards, they provide no support, no warranty, and no specification. They change components and layout without prior notification. Whatever you buy form AliExpress is always at your own risk. X99-MR9A I tested and it was ok, but it gives absolutely no guarantee that if you buy the same it will be ok as well. X99-MR9A Pro is the same motherboard with a different look, as far as I know, and X99-MR9S I didn't test at all, according to me it's pointless and overpriced.

@@Miyconst My work uses 3 browsers (Chrome, Firefox and Brave) with each 7-800 tabs.
I have ever used Ryzen 5950x before it handles this work quite well, but I sold that system when I got e5-1660v3 last week. With motherboard Asus x99 deluxe push 1660v3 to 4.5Ghz, it still not smooth as 5950x. Both use same amount of ram 64gb 3200mhz.
Then, I think it could be better if I use dual CPU board with dual 2666 V3

@@Miyconst i kinda named it wrong
modded drivers overall are not a bad idea - just look at Nimez (or was it.. nimes?) for AMD
but it is much different story on nvidia cards when you are forced to use some janky chinese drivers that you don't even know for how long will be updated - and just as you mentioned in the video, who knows if Nvidia won't find a way to simply block products like that
OFC if you are an Linux user, there won't be that much of a issue... but who knows :/

@@Karti200I totally understood what you mean. Modded drivers and Nvidia a big no go, they do prevent such things as much as possible, and may figure out a way to block it in the future so your GPU ends up to be a useless brick.

I'm looking into buying one X99 Motherboard for a project, it needs to be able to run an E5 2697 V3 or 2698/2699, I'm looking into the MR9A V1 since the price it's really good and interesting, but looking around I found also the MR9A PRO and the MR9S, the MR9S it's the pricier of the three being at 94€, what are the differences between all the versions? Thank you
