I purchased the Canon M3 after purchasing the Canon M100, I needed the external mic port. However, I also purchased the Canon M6 mii for the 4k and 120 frame rate. Either way I love the M3 too for simplicity. Thank you for showing me the M3 is still a good camera to use. I also sub'd your channel.
Yeah, compare to your other M cameras, the M3 is definitely not as advanced and does not offer as many essential features as the rest of the M cameras that you have but the simplicity, form factor and the ability to still deliver good enough images still makes this camera a nice camera to have.
Yeah, for the price, this camera is still very nice will deliver good results even for today's standards. Thanks for sharing, have a good time and have fun shooting! :-)
I have this camera 3 years with the 18-55mm and I am quite satisfied in street photography, city scape, portrait but when the light is low the quality of the photos is not the best with iso go up like a rocket. The most important problem is that one feels trapped in this system without new decent cameras in the future (2 years old the most recent camera, 3 years ago the most recent lens) only a few native lenses and a few sigma that you must have also firmware to make them compatible 100%. It's a system that doesn't allow you to grow like a photographer or at the end you will lose money searching to sell.
Some of the fast prime lenses from Canon, Sigma, or Viltrox will solve all of your issues. The problem with APS-C is that anything over about f/2.8 doesn’t let in enough light. Your camera will take some amazing photos with the f/1.4 primes.
@@stonewp Canon have abandoned long time ago the eos-m system tk even consider buy a battery, not a lens. At 1.4 the depth of field is minimum. One must have very good autofokus system.
@@guardianobserver6593 I’m not sure how the autofocus is on the M3 since I’ve never used that model, but the M6ii has excellent autofocus. It’s a great camera with any of the Sigma f/1.4 primes, the Canon 32mm f/1.4 especially, or even the f/1.4 and f/1.8 EF primes with an adapter.
Congratulations on getting the setup! Thank you for watching and for sharing your story, I am sure you will produce some really nice results with it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
thanks for the review. Im buying my very first camera and i think the m3 is the right for me. I will be using the Ef 50mm 1.8 stm with it because i got used with the 3x telephoto on my smartphone i just like the narrow fov. Your video helped a lot. thanks
which one would you recommend, the canon m3 or canon g7x mark ii? it’s nothing serious, i’m just gonna use it to take pictures and videos of my college years. thank you in advance!
Sorry for such a late reply but regarding you question, I personally would prefer the Canon eos m3 because it is able to change lenses and it also has a much bigger sensor than the g7x. The lowlight would be better and I can also change/experiment with other lenses for different looks/effects/perspectives as well. Furthermore, I really love the ef-m 22mm lens for the M system because they are really compact yet produces really great image quality and able it also allows a lot of light into the camera thus able to take pictures in lowlight as well. :-) Hope that helps somewhat and it's not too late~~ I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
The Canon eos M3 does actually have a microphone for recording sound. However, I would recommend actually attaching a microphone to the caemra rather than recording with the internal microphone as the sound would be much better (especially if you would like to audio for work). :-) The camera does have a microphone port, so you're set for that as well. Hope this helps, thank you very much for watching, hope you have a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
thank you for your review, David. I have this camera and I'm thinking to get a microphone for it. which one would you advise? more or less on a budget too. thank you in advance.
A nice budget microphone that I would recommend is the Movo VXR10. This microphone has really nice sound quality for the price point and you don't need to put in any battery for it. Furthermore, the microphone gives in louder sound input than most microphones in the price range, this is good since it will also help to eliminate some of the the fuzzy sound. The design of the microphone is also compact and also comes with the shock mount (which is good if you will be filming handheld or record in the windy environment). Hope that helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask me at any time and I will do my best to answer! Otherwise, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
Thank you for the compliment and for watching! Regarding your question, for this video I mainly used the Fujifilm X-T3 with the Fujinon XF 16mm 1.4 lens to record this video. However, on my channel, I do switch between different cameras such as the Canon eos m50, Canon eos 5d mark II/mark III, Fujifilm X-T2, Fujifilm X-T20, Gopro, etc. So I am always using the same setup for filming my RUclips videos... Thank you very much again for watching and also for the compliment, it really means a lot. I hope you have a great time and have fun shooting! :-)
Hi, I think if you want the best card for the M3, try looking at the Sandisk Extreme Pro 128gb 200mb/s SDXC class 10 (well, the capacity is really depending on your needs, can be lower like 64gb or higher light 256gb). However, in most cases you can get away with a lower speed such as lower than 150mb/s and the camera would still function perfectly fine. I would not recommend lower than 90mb/s though. I hope that helps. Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
Thank you for watching and also for the kind words, regarding your question though, I think that technically you can use it for vlogging because the quality is still quite nice, you can put in a mic and there are some good lenses for vlogging. Furthermore, there are enough manual controls should you wish to override some of the settings and the colours are nice coming out of the camera. I think the downside would be the autofocusing system is not as advance as something like an M50, M5, etc. Those camera might be better if you want to heavily rely on the autofocusing system for vlogging. Hope that helps somewhat. Thanks again for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
I have this camera since 2016. I just used it occasionally. Now, I feel like I have time to learn photography. I'm thinking of buying new lens but still doubting. Can you help me decide? Should I buy new Canon camera or lens? Thanks!
I think that it depends on the approach of photography that you would like to get back into. I personally think that this camera has more than enough features for one to learn about photography and the technicalities involved. So I would personally just invest in more lenses for the system since you will be able to get different perspectives as well as take pictures in different lighting environment before moving on to maybe something more serious. :-) On the other hand, you are probably also able to completely change the camera or even the system since you are probably not heavily invested in the system yet... though this direction would be more expensive since you would still need to invest in new lenses of the new system... So I'd recommend maybe just invest in the lenses in the system for now and see where it can get you and until you know more about the direction of photography that you want to be more serious about, you can then upgrade the camera or even the entire system to something that is more catered towards your field of photography. :-) I hope that this helped if not a lot then a little. :-) I thank you very much for watching and for commenting, much appreciated! In my opinion, it is still really good for photography. The colour reproduction is nice, has sharp files with good detail/information and the skin tones are nice as well. Furthermore, the RAW files are really robust if you want to recover extra information as well. :-)
i find the viewfinder on my m50 more saturated likewise :) I kinda dig it though haha Great video! I used the M3 for a month (in 2018) shooting films alongside the 700D, it was a loaner though haha, I wanted it back but I ultimately bought the M50 this year. Might get it for streets in the future though
Yeah, the m50 is a great camera and the viewfinder is a bit more saturated than the LCD and more saturated than the final result as well~~ But it is still much better than the optional electronic viewfinder for the m3 though because the colours in this viewfinder is very muted and the sharpness is no where as good as the sharpness in the m50's viewfinder. That being said, despite all the technical advancement in the m50 compare to the m3, there is something "nostalgic" about using the m3 compare to the m50 but the files from the m3 is still good to work with. All in all, it is still a great camera and the price for it is really affordable now to get one :-) That being said, thank you very much for watching and for sharing. Stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
I think it should be available on the used market actually though very limited since canon has come out with a replacement model sometime ago~~ :-) Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
it really depends on your needs. I think that if you want a better image quality, smaller form factor and a bit more features, the m3 is a nice choice to go. However, if you want to have more access to budget lenses and don't mind the bigger size, then the 1300d might be a better option for you. Furthermore, the autofocusing system on the 1300d is also a tiny bit faster. If it was up to me personally, I would go with the m3 because it's a more flexible camera. Sure, the autofocusing system is a little slower but I do get a bit better image quality, the more usable articulating LCD screen also allows me to shoot a some perspectives/situations where I wouldn't be able to shoot with the 1300d otherwise. The smaller and lighter form factor also means that I would take it out to shoot more and come home with more images and moments that I could have missed... Furthermore, the form factor also means that when I shooting outdoors, people won't really mind me shooting nor take me seriously, allowing the subject(s) to be more natural as well as I can just focus on the shot. :-) The downside might is the battery life (though you can now buy the extra batteries for the m3 for even a much cheaper price point now.. but it is still an extra cost and the battery life just does not last as long as the 1300d). Also I would have to invest in an adapter if I want to buy more good budget lenses from the ef mount (though possible but still have to spend the extra cost). Given all the negatives about the M3, I think it would still be a nicer long term investment for me. Hope that helps, thank you very much for watching! I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

Furthermore, you still can install a flat profile into the picture-style and just grade it yourself. Yeah, I do agree with that but if you bring down the digital sharpness in the camera picture profile and then sharpen it in post using some professional third party plugin will help or if you are using Premier Pro, then the sharpening there is also good and will bring the footage look really good actually. :-)
