    Loved the somewhat quirky friendship between Seven of Nine and Naomi Wildman. Especially how Seven referred to Naomi, "[Ah!] Naomi Wildman, sub-unit of Samantha Wildman......."

    One thing I liked about the old shows was how old the actors were. The only ones under 30 were Ensigns or people picked up in the delta quadrant. None of this 18 year old and already Captain-of-a-starship thing that New Trek has going. These people earned their rank through time and effort.

      @@matthewasher3934 that's Abram's Star Trek, not the original Star Trek. Kirk was an Ensign aboard the Starship Republic, and then a Lieutenant and later Commander assigned to the U.S.S. Farragut under Captain Garrovick. He was the youngest Captain in Star Fleet, but he worked his ass off and earned his spot.

      @@alcoholic2412 right, this a fact REALLY absurd, an officer's commission is a very serious thing, also in the past, when officers could buy their grade, in navies the officiers had to struggle from the low ranks to achieve a command. They could've modified the story, but on the contrary choose the more irrealistic way. It's a pity, because they could've rewamped the franchise

      Yeah. This was my sh!t way back. I come from a family of Trekkies and this was one show that came along the time I could make sense of it as a preteen, I was tuned in on our local fox channel every Thursday if I recall. Didn't expect to feel nostalgic, but, it was nearly 30 yrs ago when I met Kat Janeway, her handsome 2nd in command and the entire cast n crew. Ah Memory Lane.

      I feel the exact same way. I think TNG is objectively my favorite overall but Voyager is my comfort show. I can go back to it over and over and never get tired of it. Something about the characters just felt the most like a family to me. It had the most endearing cast for me, easily.

    • @JenniferKokoski
      @JenniferKokoski 2 года назад +3

      Agreed. I'm more a Dr Who ran but did watch Trek as a teen. Voyager is my favorite because off thepseudo family relationships and the shared mission to go home. Another modern series I've discovered like this is Netflix's Lost in Space. Only 3 seasons and centered on an actual family but with a shared quest to survive and find home. I wish Hollywood made more stories like that. Basically good people with some flaws trying to find a peaceful happy life.

    TNG through Enterprise was the golden era of Trek, for me. Building upon what Gene and TOS began, there is a very similar look and feel to those later series that really encapsulates (I think) what Star Trek is all about. Though, I think DS9 is probably my favorite overall, as a show.. Voyager is just as great in its own right. Janeway is my favorite female character ever, and every bit as great as Picard, Sisko, etc.. There is a real sense of camaraderie, even family, amongst the Voyager crew.. highlighted by the genuine goodness of the actors who played them.

    • @DanFrederiksen
      @DanFrederiksen 2 года назад

      Only TNG counts. DS9 was offensive, not trek, Voyager was trek but lamed by a bad premise. Enterprise was retro trek interpreted as a ww2 submarine, a clear miss. Discovery is two handed facepalm. This is not opinion but absolute fact. Now, however we might actually have star trek in our life time. Open contact with ET cultures and the total revolution that follows. Obama and Nasa administrator have recently admitted that ET ships are regularly encountered in our atmosphere. Cowardly but real.

I have always read SF and actually was sorry they did not do a few more years of this entertaining series. Remembering all who brought these characters to life. Thank you.

    Watching this made me quite sad, I always wanted a Voyager movie. I thought the Delta Quadrant offered up so much story potential. Now I realise most of the actors will never play a part in Star Trek again. Such a shame as these were good actors, who deserved more. Hence, sad :(

      They didn't, but a lot of people remember Hogan dying in "Basics" as Carey dying. There's a theory that even the writers remembered it that way, which is why we don't seen Carey for seasons 2-6 except in alternate timelines.

    I loved it. Great the main crew is still alive - Well Computer died RIP 2008, but we can cast Siri or Alexa for the role because there is still a Voyager crew existing in an alternate timeline, so a reboot for a movie or mini series, or even a feature in Discovery's timeline where that crew never made it home should be considered. Good job on this one.
