►Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (abbreviated DS9) is an American science fiction television series created by Rick Berman and Michael Piller.
►The fourth series in the Star Trek media franchise, it originally aired in syndication from January 3, 1993, to June 2, 1999, spanning 176 episodes over seven seasons.
Like most young men I had a crush on Terry Farrel back in DS9 days, but I should of appreciated Nana Visitor more, she is beautiful then and today!
I had it bad for both of THEM !!! LOL.Loved how their characters had fight scenes and weren't nurturing roles like the female lead actresses of TNG.Both female leads went on away missions and Nana's character was in charge of a lot of away missions.I have 5 sisters,2 of them pointed this out to me,the 2 loved DS9 also.
@@powerbad696 There's nothing wrong with nurturing roles, you can and should have both depending on the story. In DS9, her more physical and active role was justified by her background which was established in that very first iconic ep of the series. Her character was that of an aggressive and distrustful rebel, she was an active warrior before becoming settled as a top officer and major on DS9, a role she had to acclimate to due to her violent past, but she wasn't invincible; she had weaknesses and had to overcome many difficulties and obstacles on the show. She made mistakes more than once that contributed to her character's growth. Her character was easily among the best in Star Trek's history because of how complex she was. However, all characters on the show, both male and female had the most depth of any star Trek show and went through significant character developments throughout the seasons - just look at Garak, Sisko, Odo or even Warf and what about Bashir? The male characters and the female characters were all equally wonderful and unique. It's the quality of the writing and the acting as well as having - arguably - among the best casts of characters in a tv show, that made it the best overall Star Trek show and one of the best sci-fi shows in history.
I remember going to a Wonder Con in San Francisco years back and how me and an actor who was signing autographs were arguing how we were both in love with Terry Farrel 💘and wanted Marry her!
Avery Brooks just may be the Emissary to the Prophets based on how young he still looks.
Exactly! He looks amazing! Stopped aging just so they could finish his story & reunite him with his son, wife & daughter. And you know what? With Paramount+ deciding to fill in the gaps with older stories, I hope they do decide to do right by him. Sisko is my favorite Captain with the most unappreciated (& most incomplete) story ❤️
He has aged about as well as where your icon is from: MOO2. Still a great game to play even to this day.
Didn't like Brook's character's final story, leaving his son ALONE like that !!! BS.
@@powerbad696 Thank you. I hated that last arc. God tier Cpt. though.
Michael Down too.
Black Don't crack Avery Brooks is 73 years old and still looking like all that change was the color of his beard ✊🏿💀
It is sad so many have passed but their legacys will live on forever and they will be remembered RIP.
2022 took a toll in this cast.....RIP
Mit DS9 konnte ich noch nie was anfangen...😢
continue to produce valuable videos to serve the audience, have a good day my friend
Nice trip down Memory Lane.
One of my fave scenes from DS9 is when Dr. Bashir talks to Enabran Tain about getting the spy hardware removed from Garak's head. Paul Dooley nailed the cold spymaster. And was a gracious host at the same time.
Look at that neck on Marc Alaimo.. i bet when they saw that they figured they had to do something with that.
John kolicos-kor- was also the big bad guy in the original battlestar galactica. Old school roles too.
They look great 👍. I just lurve Jeffrey Coombs 💕
You completely ignored accomplished actress, Salome Jens who portrayed the female shape shifter leader of the Dominion, and also actor JamesSloyan who portrayed Doctor Mora Pol, Odo’s mentor who was prominently featured in two pivotal episodes focused on the character of Odo. You need to redo this video and give both Jens and Sloyan their proper due!!!!
Relax, it's not an official document. He needs to do nothing. Maybe ask it a little nicer.
They need to bring back as much of the cast as they can and make a new show, just for them! Everybody talks about how groundbreaking Next Gen was, but it was DS9 that really broke the mold! They had the guts to make things funny, and messy, and complicated, and it made them seem more like real people. C’mon Paramount! Get off your butts and invest some time and money into a DS9 reboot!
Kurtzman would have to be long gone before I ever entertained bringing back the surviving cast members of DS9.
He is the Kathleen Kennedy of STAR TREK. And the damage he has done during his tenure is irreparable.
Grazie a tutti voi per avere inserito tra le vostre foto degli attori anche la foto della nostra " Comandante Samantha Cristoforetti " 🖖😁🇮🇹 🖖😁🖖😁
Fantastic chapter of str trek. If not the best very close to being there. Some episodes were exciting with twists and turns. Thanks for the show guys.
Sisko and Keiko look no different!
キラとジャッジャ相変わらずお綺麗です
Thanks, that's interesting. Lots of mistakes though...
Aaron Eisenberg was not 44 in 1993. I have noticed in these videos the ages can be dubious.
That was a typo
Mark Alaimo really does have an unfeasibly long neck😅
That was my thought too !😅😅
He did rock that role. The man always saw the opportunity to play it large but not too much. He reminds me of Lee van Cleef. Dukat, never a dull moment
Same with Hertzler and O'Reilly, Knew when to go big and pull back.
Moogie passed away 😢
That is not Michael Dorn as Worf in 1995, its from TNGs first season '87-'88.
Dorn has shrunken up a little now days. A Klingon with a chicken.
Ferengi make-up was complicaded?
Where was the Female Founder?
Salome Jens was born in 1935, easily 60 when the role started. Still kickin
Terrible choice of music
I like how Molly O'Brien, who was cute as a button in the 90's, is now in her 30's but still looks like she is 12.
Avery Brooks could pick the uniform and keep filming episodes as if no time had passed, are we sure he isn't actually The Emissary? Love to all of my fellow DS9 fans.
Just turned on Pluto and watching.
He IS the Emissary!
You just Knew Terry was gonna age gracefully. She is Stunning.
She is always stunning.
Nana is looking good always ♥️ Kira
What was that other show that she moved to? "Becker" with Ted Dansen? Was nice to see her there too.
@@TrondogfulBecker is on every night on Antenna TV. Terry is a riot on that show, pretty too.
Yeah, I knew. Girl has bones, Structure. I hope she and mr. Nimoy can live long, and shop.
Now lets talk about how Michael Dorn could star on CHiPs again. Nana looks wonderful as does her ex husband. Mr. Siddig hasn't aged a day. Rosalind Chao wow. Maybe Miles was the portrait of Dorian Gray.
Colm Meany was born looking 35 like Patrick Stewart. He, like Patrick looks this way to this day, plus age. The size of mr. Meaney's head...I pity his mother.
Paul Dooley is 94 years old? Looks like Enabran Tain really is outliving all of his enemies.
Avery Brooks has barely aged a single day since DS9 ended its run. He could dye his beard and reprise the role of Cpt. Sisko right now...if he were so inclined.
they would ruin his character
It seemed to me, with his acting chops, he had the world on a string...anything he wanted to do, but he just withdrew. I don't understand, but that's his call. Glorious time on DS9.
@@Trondogful It's a true shame that they weren't able to get him to come back for the reunion in the What We Left Behind documentary in 2018. It could have been the last time that the entire cast could be together before Auberjonois and Shimerman passed. I don't have any proof to support it, but I blame William shatner partly for that. He did him pretty dirty in a previous documentary that he put together called The Captains in 2011; making fun of his possible mental instability (a possible reason that he withdrew from acting).
@@samueltheprideofafrikarobi9319 I've been aware of The Captains, but have not watched it...I'll have to look it up. I would hate to think that shatner had any influence; he's caused enough trouble with other good people. In my area, there's an over the air channel that carries all five series, five hours of Star Trek six days a week. When Voyager comes on, I do laundry . 🙂
@@Trondogful 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm probably one of the very few people who actually liked Voyager. It had its problems for sure, but I've always thought that the premise of it; a Federation starship lost on the other side of the galaxy just trying to find its way home and doing what it needs to for survival, is a compelling one. Unfortunately I don't think that the writers used that premise to the fullest extent of its abilities, instead falling back on more tried-and-true "happier" tropes from TNG. Likely to differentiate itself from the bleakness of DS9.
When it comes to the Trek pantheon, my order of favorites is DS9 (by a country mile), then SNW, Voyager, TNG, Disco, TOS, and then WAY down the road somewhere is Enterprise. I haven't even bothered with Picard or Prodigy. And though it's a spicy take, I don't really care for Lower Decks because I just feel like it's a Rick and Morty clone with a Star Trek coat of paint.
I love all of the Trek movies with the original cast with The Undiscovered Country and The Motion Picture being at the top. And while I think Generations had far more promise than most people think it did, the rest of the TNG movies are kind of...not great. The JJ-verse was beautiful to look at, but felt a bit vapid.
Then, of course, we can't forget the ever wonderful Galaxy Quest...
The pic of Majel Barrett, labelled as being from the '93 is from the pilot of TOS, about 3 decades earlier.
Correct. She was so GORGEOUS back then !!! Oh,my. Babe-cake. LOL.
It's also not Lwaxana Troi but Christine Chapel
@@ananaswuenschdirwas9067No, that was her as Number One from the original Star Trek pilot.
A lot of the main cast photos are from later in the shows run. Some characters pictured werent even in the show in 1993. Lazy.
Gowron: >>8(
Robert O’Reilly: :D
Terry, Nana, and Nicole are still beautiful.
I still believe this is the best star trek series. the cast and the quality of the characters and the complex story arch give it a depth and an edginess missing from the others. I frickin love this show!
Agreed,was a good series.
Wow, here I am thinking this was the worst Star Trek series. I still can’t sit thru an episode of DS9. But the characters are great. Especially Worf, Nog and Chief O ‘Brien.
Absolutely the best Star Trek series to date… Character development was like none other. The best Capt and arguably some of the best story arcs in serialized television.
@@andyjoelharper3448to me DS9 series at the time it was a ok show even I couldn’t sit through it by watching it for me it was the characters some of them were to boring story lines.
Somehow Nana Visitor is even sexier now. Good genes.
you dont think she looks TOTALLY different?
Wallace Shawn's still kicking around?! Inconceivable!
Not just still alive, he is still working, recurring on another series - Young Sheldon.
Nana and Terry still look gorgeous
Still do… oh yes!
Absolutely! Of all the Trek ladies, I've always liked those two best. Such brilliant characters!
They definitely do stunning
Genetically blessed.....both of 'em.
:) Excellent combination of actors. Each of them a good actor themself but together, they shine like no other Star Trek crew.
This is the best Star Trek series that stands out above the rest.
* I love them all but this one DS9, was too much fun.
Have to say DS9 is my favorite TNG Series. Not gonna compare TNG to TOS because there was too big a break between them in my opinion. Marc Alaimo's Dukat is my favorite character on all the series though. Maybe slightly edged out by Michael Ansara's Kang. If pressed I'd give them a joint win at #1,
I really appreciate your format. All the other types of THEN and NOW just use the most recent photo of whichever actor or actress they have and make no mention of “Oh, by the way, they died 2 decades ago.” I like that you list the year they died and RIP, so thank you.
It is so incredible how many have passed on...I will remember all of them..RIP.
Aron Eisenberg was 23 years old in 1993, not 44
Sorry for this mistake. 🙏
Oh my goodness, that makes me feel Old so so Old, I'm a Treky from the first series with Bill Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and the gang loved it from the first time of watching it, thank goodness for Lucialle Ball and her ability to take a chance, one very clever lady. When Deep Space 9 was advertised I was very confused, by said advert and I thought I wouldn't watch it because of that very odd and weird advert, luckily I'm a fan of Star Trek so I had to give it a go, it was a fantastic series and I loved every single minute and after each season I couldn't wait for the next to come around, it was brilliantly written and each and every character held your interest. I truly miss that series. Its funny when Next Generation came out I was a little "you have to be kidding... right" but that got better and I ended up living that also. Then Enterprise, I know many disliked it, but I got it, it made sense and was sad when that was dropped, then Voyager it too was a great series which I watched every Sunday evening. Now we have a complete new series which I haven't seen because I won't pay for a TV License here in the UK and I don't have Netflix because British Netflix is pants, and I don't even know who streams it, is it Netflix or Amazon Prime or some other company. Suppose I should ask the all knowing Google.
I always loved Kira. She's more beautiful now than ever. Dax too. I loved her in the hellraiser movie she did. Then now I'm thinking oh ya Andrew Robinson was in the original, first hellraiser. Wonder if they ever talked to each other about there experience in those. (Sry I'm a fan). Anyway great compilation!
I've had a crush on Terri Ferrell since she was in Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School.
Wish they would have done a return show. My favorite Star Trek!
Mine TOO.
Definitely the best one for me too! I still watch it every night going to bed
Nicole dbeoer is still a cutie.
Kira and the wonderful talented and lovely Nana Visitor♥️ is my favorite RIP Rene' you are missed
Dude Aron Eisenberg born in 69 could not possibly have 44 years in 1993?!
The most underrated badass Trek series ever created that is not politically correct and makes Sisko the best Starfleet Captain ever!
I love Nana Visitor her acting chops were unparalleled in the series. Okay everyone involved were exceptional but her character...wow!
Her character KICKED so much butt !!! And so did the other female lead actor( can't remember the female actresses name or her character's name.
Bears out the phrase "Dynamite comes in small packages"!
Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner are the only actors who come close in all of Star Trek imo
@powerbad696 do you mean Terry Farrell aka Jadzia Dax?
Terry and Nana are still beautiful
Just watch this series this year and I must say all the women here have aged so well. Especially Nana, Terry, and Rosalind. Wow I was Molly’s age when they filmed this show!
Hana Hatae who played Molly is SMOKING hot now !!!! LOL.What a total BABE !!!
If Terry Farrell dyed her hair she would not look much different.
Her eyes are stunning.
Best Star Trek series ever! I cannot immediately think of an annoying character other than Keiko O'Brien and Kasidy Yates in the entire series, they were otherwise all brilliantly well-written and superbly acted, who didn't detest Gul Dukat and kai Winn after seeing them for the first time? Where were Koloth, and Kang though? Jadzia and Ezri will forever be in my memory as well.
Really hope they bring back Ds9 1 of the best shows ever! 🙏
Maybe a new generation of Trek viewers would like it but for me, an old timer, it just wouldn't be the same without the original cast.
@@illudiumq36spacemodulator39 Sad, the ship has sailed on DS9. Paramount let it get away by staying hung up on the sub par TNG movies and the inferior Star Trek Picard show. Now the want to ride that dead horse again with a lame Star Trek Picard movie. Picard will have to use Professor Xavier's wheel chair from the X-Men movies.
I saw every episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine and I didn't even know that John Colicos played Kor but then again I thought the actor who played Kor sounded familiar as the same guy who betrayed the colonies to the Cylons on the original BattleStar Galactica and didn't he play the character on Star Trek the Original Series too I sure would like to know.
Yes. He originated the role. All three Klingon captains: Kang, Kor, and Koloth were in the original series, and reprised their roles on DS9. Ansara also reprised his role as Kang in an episode of Voyager with a Sulu/Tuvok flashback.
He also voiced apocalypse in the 90’s X-Men cartoon and even remixed a line uttered by Spock from the same episode his Klingon character appeared in .
You've got John Colicos all wrong. No way he was born in 1953, when he played Kor in TOS he was much older than 14 years old.
Fletcher died in 2022.
Avery, don't think we don't see through your little trick of just dying a litte gray into your beard to hide the fact you're not aging at all.
😉
If the creator is still monitoring, John Colicos was born 10 Dec 1928, not 30 May 1953.
Nana Visitor has such a cute smile!
I maybe a tad late to the party, however feel someone needs to point out your photo of John Colicos is from 78 Battle star Galactica. That is when he played Baltar.
Nana Visitor still hot :)
Hands down the best Star Trek series of all time.
Avery Brooks has definitely aged the best...amazing.
John Colicos was born in 1928, not 1953.
Molly is cute now
She was cute as a child and remained cute.
Such a great show and Crew
AGREED.Those late 80s and mid/late 90s were the GOLDEN era of TREK for me.When I used to live in Philly during the early 90s my fiancee and I would watch TNG together on Thursday nites-such GOOD times.
Title says 2003 not 1993 when the show came out.
Thanks for your feedback. 🙏
Garak / Andrew Robinson and Gul Dukat / Marc Alaimo are in my top 5 ever.
Louise Fletcher, the most evil nurse of all time...
And wtf, Aron Eisenberg died too early.
I'm a bit surprised by Melanie Smith being 35 during her run on the show. She was playing a 17 year old.
It's sad that everyone had to age.
I kinda wish Deep Space Nine was 5 years ago.
Nana is fing beautiful with grey hair
Black apparently does not crack.
Color-dye Avery Brook's beard and he looks the same. Deep Space 9, the best Star Trek series after The Next Generation due to them having a large station with alot of characters.
Always thought General Martok and Chancellor Gowron were black actors
A lot of mistakes on birthdates
I assumed all the photos were accurate to the ages given… until we got to Majel Barrett (1:50)! The video also contradicts the thumbnail on how Terry Farrell looked in 2022! Nevertheless, a nice compilation. So many of the men look like they could go back now and play their characters better than ever. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a short 'reunion' series with characters such as Garak, Dukat, Weyoun, Martok, and Quark. Wouldn't it be great to see O'Brien, Keiko, and Molly as a family today? Molly's actress Hana Hatae is beautiful! :-)
Well done and thank you. Oh, and a BIG thumbs up.
It would be great to see a movie using at least one of these In character!🌺
Worf has been in 3.
@@sureshmukhi2316That doesn't count, those were very lame TNG movies that he was in. First Contact was the only semi decent TNG movie made, all others had the look of a shoe string budget TV show. The cast of DS9 should have had their own movies made. Paramount has made me sick, they have road the TNG crew to death with their lame stories.
@@alvinbanks the OP didn't specify which character or which crew. At least one, namely Worf has been in character in a movie.
What complete bullshit! You say John Colicos was born May 30, 1953. You also say he was 66 years old in 1994. So do some math. And you say he passed in 2000. At which time he would have been only 47. Yet he was 66 in 1994 according to you!!!!! BUY A CALCULATOR!!!!
RIP James Darren
today i learned... Gowron was klingon blackface. kinda an odd thing. Like i know other white actors have played klingons but it's still kinda odd to see it. Even like, looking at Martok vs Gowron... it's not quite so egregious
Seems I share a birthday with Dr Bashir! But I've had three more than him. And only three hundred and sixty three days older than Jadzia, who shares her birthday with that other beautiful lady, Jodie Foster.
Jadzia, Nerys, Ezri and Keiko are still beautiful women, and Molly O'Brien is soooooo pretty!
Um, that 1993 picture of Majel Barrett is certainly not from 1993. More like 1966. You could have picked 1 of a 1,000 pictures of her as Lwaxana Troi instead of picking a picture taken almost 30 years prior. Poor research.
This is my first ever Trek series - watch a few voyager - and I'm in love with the show. It's got the wholesome 90s feel to it.. What I eam to say is, it's captures the attributes of those of us that lived through the 90s. Respect, dignity, friendship, honour, loyalty, sarcasm etc.. Sadly, these attributes arw long gone in today's vile society. Makes me feel warm watching it. Just finished The House of Quark - s3. Even he managed to stand up and be counted! It was a bluff, but still 😂
Aron Eisenberg died at the age of 50. So in 1993 he was 24 years old. Not 44.
Where’s Eddington ?
Maybe still in prison? 🤔 😅😅
@@rattus3102Eddington was killed off in DS9 S05E23 Blaze Of Glory.😑
It's amazing how many of them are still alive.
really? it was 30 years ago....they were in their 30s...lol :/
I don't know which was the best.. Tng, ds9 or voyager? But I think that all though ds9 was excellent, some elements of the story annoyed me, like the dominion wars, the founders and the bajoran.. What I enjoyed most, was the crew of the ds9, their relationships and dialogues and especially quark.
There’s no way that pic of Avery Brooks is from 2022. Also that picture of Zitat is the first actress, Cyia Batten. Not Melanie Smith.
While flipping through the channels one evening I happened to find Nicole De Boer on a Canadian PI program. Her character was the mother of one of the characters. I always thought she was so cute. I didn't recognize her at first because of the different hairdo.
In many fan fiction stories, Jadzia and Nerys are a lesbian couple who love each other very much. Nerys is not a Bajoran feminine given name but a Welsh feminine given name. Many Star Trek fans mistakenly think Kira is the first name of Kira Nerys, but it's Bajoran tradition to have the family name first, then the given name.
John Colicos' date of birth is wrong! If he was born in 1953, he would be 12 years old in TOS!
Got the wrong picture for Melanie Smith's Ziyal. Cyia Batten on the left played the first and younger version of Ziyal and Melanie Smith on the right played the third and final version. There was another actress who played Ziyal but she appeared in only one episode.
I don't realize how old I am until I watched this video
Major Kira was such an amazing character.. Very relatable.. Well to me.. To us rly, as a nation since we did suffer occupations and we resisted and won but our bajor is still in termoil
Their were several memorable characters in DS9 but it was the worst star trek series ever, far to American in space, the fact that Sisko turns out to be some great holy one utterly ridiculous! Just not plausible.
Louise Fletcher is the only actor ever to appear in any Star Trek series to win an Oscar. She won Best Actress for her performance as Nurse Ratchett in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
The partially obscured woman next to Nana Visitor is a real life astronaut - ESA's Samantha Cristoforetti !
Nana Visitor and Avery Brooks haven't changed that much, they still look good.
It looks like the average age of the original cast was 40, which seems old.
