OC! I just test road the MT07 and it was my first ride in a long time. I had a super blast and its super torquey in my opinion i think the MT07 would be a great daily bike as well as a commute bike doing over 80mph tucked down it was nice and fun on a straight road. I can't say anything on the R7 but if they are practically the same in terms of power and such for a fun daily 30min commute bike or a weekend bike i say the MT07 would be the best option. But i feel like the R7 would do better on the highway based on the windscreen and body positioning.
I want an upright riding position and an easier control feel like you get with a naked bike, which is why I want to get an mt07, but I also like to hit the mountains and twisties as much as I can. Will the mt07 be good for that? I'm mostly commuting for school and work but during free time I hit curves.
OC I was initially sold on the MT as a first bike but after researching the R7, I’m sort of torn between the two. It would be used as a weekend bike on the street and highway.
OC: I'd love an R7, hopefully I can get it here in Colombia. Since I already ride an R15 (155cc for latin american market), the position is juuust right
Good review. Entry level bikes for different things. Seems reasonable. Still hard to get over the same hp. 13000 is a lot....maybe worth it but again depends on what you get the bike for and the actualy bike which I have yet to ride.
2021 Kawi zx6r (636) at local dealer is $9199 which includes traction control and quick shifter. This bike isn't even a contender. Yamaha took a step backwards with this one. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Get some seat time before you think about your second or third bike. Once you've gotten enough ride time there are going to be changes to the bikes by then.
I have Yamaha R3 2021. Could you compare R3 and R7 ? Is that worth to change R3 to R7? Is that worth to have more power for riding in city or small and technical track? For me Yamaha R3 is best looking and riding bike in class 400 CC.
Depends on how you want to ride. R7 is more gradual step from beginner to a larger bike versus going straight to a 600CC supersport like R6 or Zx6R. Much like choosing a Ninja 650 or CBR650R. R7 will feel easier to ride and much faster in streets than R3 because of torque curve, don't have to rev it to 10,000 RPM to get going fast, likely better on streets than R6 too. But those super sports will spank R7 all day on a track or pure acceleration.
Did you drop your R7? Looks like the left turn signal isn't aligned with the right side. It's pointed upwards, just looks super strange lol. Wish they just kept the lights in the mirrors.
Does the mt07 handle wind better than the mt03? My 03 gets absolutely tossed around at even 60 sometimes and it’s scary. When I upgrade I’m not sure which type of bike to buy. Gotta be Honda or yamaha, was thinking about the mt07

OC: I love the looks of the R7 but also like the aggressive look of the MT. After just hitting a deer and doing $1100 in damage to plastic I’m definitely leaning in the direction of the naked bike.
Change the oil on an r7 then change the oil on a fz/mt 😂
OC: Hard pick tbh, i live for the casual but hooligan style and feel of the MT 07, but the R7 looks nicer and you can go to the track with it, so ultimately i'd choose the MT over the R, but the R is always there as a backup 😂
Dude you look just like a guy i took msf with about 10 or 11 years ago in georgia! Any chance you used to drive a yellow mustang? Anyhow great video, i just put my deposit down for one of these.
OC: I'd love to get a MT-07 for my wife to learn to ride on.
So when's the new MT-09 First Ride coming out?
OC: my current bike is a standard, so I'd go for the R7! It seems like a perfect second bike and a perfect track/canyon toy.
Love your videos, but in this one, the music was louder than your voice. Meaning that I had to turn up my speakers to hear you, but then turn it down when the music plays. Just thought I'd let you know. I love all your content otherwise, and it's great for hunting for that N+1 motorcycle. :D
OC i like the looks of the R7 I wish it had clip on like the R3 then I would buy it but because its like a super bike I have to go with the MT-07 once they put up side down adjustable forks on it in 2023
OC
I was initially sold on the MT as a first bike but after researching the R7, I’m sort of torn between the two. It would be used as a weekend bike on the street and highway.
The one i want is the one with better suspension. I have the razor on my fz, but only did the dave moss treatment to the front
OC. The MT07. Now the questions that you did not address. Can the slipper clutch and front suspension from the R7 be a direct swap to the MT07???
OC: I'd love an R7, hopefully I can get it here in Colombia. Since I already ride an R15 (155cc for latin american market), the position is juuust right
Good review. Entry level bikes for different things. Seems reasonable. Still hard to get over the same hp. 13000 is a lot....maybe worth it but again depends on what you get the bike for and the actualy bike which I have yet to ride.
I can't decide which I like more but as a beginner rider I think I'd take a mt 07 and then later on get an r7
OC..... I like the R7. Great video. Keep em comin
2021 Kawi zx6r (636) at local dealer is $9199 which includes traction control and quick shifter. This bike isn't even a contender. Yamaha took a step backwards with this one. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I'm making moves to get the MT-07 as my first bike. I'm thinking more and more the R7 will be my next if not the MT-09.
Don't go from an mt07 to r7 just pick one or the other
Check out the rs660 Aprilia makes a full faired and naked version I recommend that way over the Yamaha.
Get some seat time before you think about your second or third bike. Once you've gotten enough ride time there are going to be changes to the bikes by then.
Does the R7 stress member fit on the MT07??
OC: my back cant do the R7 position and my inseam could barely span that seat height so I'd get the mt07 but I still want to try the R7
Great video thanks for making this!!!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
