    I feel that the R7 is a realistic way to give riders something that we want, we can afford and something we don’t regret owning for a few years. Despite the lack of the inline 4 motor, the parallel twin gives a lot of benefit in return.

    • @pleasedontwatchthese9593
      @pleasedontwatchthese9593 2 года назад +20

      I think what I don't like is that we are giving up the inline 4 because people want to look cool than to actually have a capable bike. If the R6 and R7 both existed then I would not care and people could have a choice which is a good thing. I just don't think every bike needs to be a daily. Off road bikes seem to get away with that but sport bikes are falling to it. Like people understand that a dirt bike is not meant for driving to work everyday but is fun in a narrow band of actives like a supersport is.

      Hardly comparible, with the design being over 30 years out of date now, but my first motorcycle was a 91 EX500. Renamed to the Ninja after they added a rear disk and changed the plastics in 94. Parallel twin sports bikes are great little things. Have myself an SV650, nowadays, which has the same seating position, about the same triangle, near the same wheelbase, and just an extra 20-30 horsepower. If only Suzuki offered it with fairings.

    I found an interesting situation with my ZX6r. I'm disabled in large part because of my back. I've found that the seating position, while being in a semi-fetal position, actually helps to get pressure off of my back. I thought for sure that it would force me to stop riding. Quite the opposite. When my back is hurting really badly, i take a ride and it helps.

  • @___Eldritch
    @___Eldritch 2 года назад +7

    The reason it has more linear power is because the twin parallel stability is pretty level through rotation. In line 4 engines shake a bit until the RPMs hit about 6k and then it violently sales through it's power band. The R7 just seems lazy in comparison. Yeah it does about 140 (15mph slower roughly than the 600) however the speed in which you get there is what makes me say it's a glorified ninja 650. Great commuter bike. Hands down. No argument. It can even be fun, but when you come from the 600 crowd then you'll be severely disappointed. Especially if you've had anything bigger.

    • @Daniel-dj7fh
      @Daniel-dj7fh 2 года назад +4

      Your arguments up there, you 're still comparing twins and inline4 cylinders. One engine is tuned for torque, the other for hp. You can't just expect the r7 to accelerate as quick as the r6, without keeping in mind that the r6 probably can't start off in 4th gear unlike the r7 because it's got the punch

      Why cant they sort of split the difference between an R and an MT? I dont like the naked bikes especially since they cheap out on suspension etc .....why cant they just give a bike a bit more upright ergos WITH a fairing ? Honda did that with the VFR it is totally possible Part of the problem is there is such pressure to make bikes cost less which the stupid thing about that is the same guys that bitch about the price and happily settle for a naked bike with downgraded components usually wind up spending a bunch of cash trying to trick it out typically not really improving anything at all except how it sounds maybe....If the market would tolerate a higher price I feel like we could get some really nice bikes directly off the showroom floor! The R7 is an example it costs a couple grand more but it is significantly better it is NOT just styling it is better...But you cant get the same quality with the MT because it is just a pricepoint bike they actually hope you wont buy and instead upsell you thousands of bucks on a CP3 or CP4 model which have options not available on the pricepoint model

    OK. So after seeing the 60th Anniversary World GP paint scheme, I am debating over the R7 and the R3. I've been riding for 20 years and you might ask why I would consider the R3. Well, I have an 05 Zx6R 636 and an Mt-03. The MT-03 was going to be a commuter. But I am very tall above the waist and have wide shoulders. I almost act like a parachute and all the weight is pushed to the back of the bike. Requiring me to raise the rear all the way up and sit up on the tank. Otherwise no bite in the front tire. And since my every day commute requires some interstate riding the front feels like it's just skipping along. So while I really like the R7, I already have a track bike not comfortable for daily riding, I am leaning towards the R3. I know it has a more upright seating position. And seems like the better commuter in a fully faired bike. Not to mention way cheaper. My nephew has been learning to ride on the MT-03 while I've been riding the ZX6. I am mainly debating over the 2 because I really like that paint scheme. Do you guys think the R3 will be more comfortable enough to choose it over the R7? My nephew is reaching the point that he is upgrading to an MT-07 of his own over the next 6 months or so. At that point the MT-03 will be sold and I'm getting a Triumph Trident 660. So neither would be a commuter for a very long time. But it also seems crazy to have the R7 and the ZX6. Neither seeming to be ideal for longer trips. But I will say the ZX6 doesn't seem to have the power band issues a lot of the other inline 4s have. So I don't think I will see as much benefit from the R7 over the ZX6 as say the R6. I know the R3 is the smart choice since it's mainly about the paint scheme and special edition. But I would hate to choose the R3 if it's not a lot more comfortable than the R7.

    I'd love to test ride one in my local mountain roads. I just fear it lacks the power to entertain me. The reason I suspect this is that my VStrom had very similar power and frankly it sort of bored me. I bought a Tracer 9gt and I LOVE that motor! If I were to design my own motorcycle I think it would be a 750 CP3 weighing perhaps 375llbs wet...And I would like the styling to LOOK very full fairing sportbike but actually more of a compromise between fully upright and hunched over ...maybe along the lines of the Honda 800 VFR in ergos...Nobody really builds what I want I dont like naked bikes and sport touring bikes are generally too heavy partly because they always try to make them good for two up touring which adds a bunch of weight. The other big detractor on the R7 is the lack of tech which the best you can do I guess is the optional half a quick shifter?

The R6 and R1 absolutely, but the R7 is not. It’s a sport bike but by no stretch of the imagination is it a super sport bike. I want to get on a R7 & compare it to my 2021 Honda CBR650R. Same class bike, a more tamed engine supersport. Although Honda kept the Inline 4, & they adjusted the seat position & rearset position to be more relaxed for touring. Compared to the Yamaha R7 which is a 699cc machine with only 71hp weighing in at 414 lbs. , Honda is a much heavier bike @ 455 lbs dry but is still putting down 94 hp from a 649cc displacement engine. Ive rode liter bikes, 600s, etc. & i think both of these bikes align in the same category as tamed supersports where you can use the whole bike on those back roads & even take it to the track and compete, but it still doesnt have that all out raw power in the high revs like the classic 600s & liter bikes. My point is, being a Honda Fan, I’m surprised i don’t see more material related to the CBR650r compared to all the Vlogs I’ve seen on The New R7 in comparison videos. I will say I believe the CBR650R doesn’t get the credit it deserves and is a better bike & more of a competitor with the Aprilia RS660 than any other bike in this class. Just some Ideas for new content, it’d be dope to see you on the new Honda CBR650R to compare them & hear what you think.

If they would have given us an angrier more powerful version of the CP2, or slightly more upscale suspension, I would have nothing to say about the $9k price. As it is, I'm just not seeing why it is so much more $$ than the MT-07 when it's perhaps ~$100 more for Yamaha to make. For the sake of argument I could accept the idea that maybe it costs them $300 more to make... still doesn't justify the cost TO ME.
