  • Are you replacing an alternator in the 2005 Ford Focus SE ZX4? This video is for you! It's a common failure in the 2005 Ford Focus. There are a few other videos on RUclips learn from. I'm trying to be helpful in providing another perspective, and filling in the gaps and information you may need to know.
How much does it cost to replace an alternator on a Ford Focus?
According to repairpal dot com, The average cost for a Ford Focus alternator replacement is between $427 and $760. Labor costs are estimated between $124 and $158 while parts are priced between $303 and $602. Estimate does not include taxes and fees.
SO SAVE MONEY AND DO IT YOURSELF!! I bought my Alternator on Amazon for 80 bucks and installed it for FREE!
For this alternator replacement operation you'll want to study and research and learn as much as you can before setting out to accomplish your task. They say it can be a complicated job. It's not that bad if you know what you're getting into. The worst part is figuring out how to leverage the engine forward in order to drop the old alternator out of cavity. The right size tools and an identification of the parts you will be working on, will be instrumental to your success. Links and descriptions to be edited it soon message optimized optimized... have fun!

Dude that piece about undoing part of the alternator to get the heat shield/splash guard on was what I needed! Hopefully this vid paid for that alternator for you. Thanks for the advice

Awesome! I's super glad I could provide value. That's exactly what I wanted to do. I'm up to $6 in earnings from this one, so far. I have a feeling that it'll grow slowly over time and it's all good! Thanks and have a great drive!

I laughed because I said and thought of the same things you did. Great video. helped me finish the job. For those that have done this job and replacing the alternator did not fix the issue. Check the fuse that runs along the top of engine from the alternator to the battery. The fuse can fail and wont allow a charge to the battery. carquest has the parts you need if that's the issue. To test locate that large fuse, peel back the heat shrink and perform a continuity test. if it fails then more than likely the fuse has blown. Thanks for the video amigo!

Hey Ray. Thanks for the video. Our Focus is not charging and I'm about to put it up on the ramps. The good news is it I'm working in summer instead of winter in MN. I also noted another video who took off the alternator studs with an E8 socket. Not looking forward to loosending the engine mount to getting the alternator to drop out. Will also make sure to wear my goggles : )

Great and savage day to you Charles! I found it wasn't necessary to take off the studs. The most challenging part it's probably just the Rubik's Cube level finagling you have to do to get it to drop down in that cavity where it then becomes necessary to move the engine mount forward. Just keep that wire harness out of the way and you should do wonderfully. Good luck man. It feels great once you get through it and conquer the task. Cheers!

I was half expecting this to be a drone shot. See what’s happened? You’ve spoilt us.
Happy 14th birthday to your car

Yes, I'm doing exactly what "they" say not to do. Is this a VR channel? Is this a drone flight channel? Is this a QooCam video channel? Is this a vacation travel channel? It's certainly not an auto repair channel! Alas, I turn challenges into opportunity. Hey, I finally beat one of your beat saber scores. Surpassed Tipatat Chennavasin too! And that's not easy!

Working on this piece of shit now at the shop, i had to remove the studs, there were some wireloom wedged behind the alternator making it impossible to clear, removed the studs and it dropped rather easier. Rocked the motor forward and the alternator fell out.

Great video. I hope it pays for your alternator over time. That is some b.s. That's why I stick to gm 3800 engines. Hey I been to Clearwater. Partied at the Shepards club the summer of 2004. Good times.

Thanks MN Prepper! I gotta be prepared to fix my own vehicle! Seems like this one will take some time to work its way into the recommended results, but I think it'll do all right once it does. I joke about it, but I'm seriously thinking about buying that Tesla CyberTruck. I'd love to drive that think down to Florida!

You can use a 1/4" socket to remove the studs. That's what I did.
