My father passed away in1994. He drove these buses for the local transit from 1962 to about 1985. Watching and listening to these videos brought back many memories of riding the bus with him. As a kid I was not fond of having to take the bus. But as an adult, I see where the bus paid for my schooling, the food on our table ,the roof over our heads, as well as caring for Mom and my 5 brothers and sisters.
I'm sorry to hear about your father passing, but I'm really glad the video was able to bring back memories (hopefully all good!) I'm incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to drive two retired Fishbowl's, they're amazing machines!
I liked the appearance of the GMC New Look Fishbowl Bus and always enjoyed the sound of the engine with the automatic transmission shifting. Saw plenty of them in service with Southern California Rapid Transit. District.
this video is like a time capsule. it reminds me when i used to ride those busses with mom and dad as a child. I think those buses where alot more comfortable than today's.
I've been watching a lot of these GM Fishbowl videos. I grew up in Oakland, CA (AC Transit). I used to literally walk around the house at 5, 6 years old imitating the sound of that engine. I even remember those green tinted top windows.
Rode on these in college and they are the best!!!!!!! Love everything about them even the engine sound,,,brings back great memories,,,thank you for this cool video,,,,the buses nowadays suck compared to these!!!!!!!
So much of this video, brought back a great deal of memories. My Dad used to drive bus for our local bus system from about 1962 to 1984. He drove these fishbowl models many times, as well as the GM model used just before these. I rode them many times both on and off Dads route.
Great ride along video. I too have nostalgic memories of riding these beasts first in Montreal then Ottawa and finally in London. I can close my eyes while listening to this video and go back in time.
I fondly remember riding on the last few remaining early '60s New Looks in service in London, Ontario, Canada (where many of them were built) in the late '90s to early 2000s. A driver once told me the New Looks were the most reliable buses in their fleet, especially compared to the New Flyer D40i which was brand new at the time and notoriously unreliable.
I have ridden on in Toronto dozens of times in the 1960s Toronto transit had thousands of these buses and lived 4 blocks away from the bus barns in west end Toronto
ever since i have seen and own the movie "Speed 1994" if you know what movie i am talking about,i really think these Buses are awesome just because of that movie, except it was 66 and not a 67 and it is blue in the front instead of green,i wished i had a chance to ride on one it would be nice, but great vid
The bus looks great. However, what happened to the signage? It would be awesome if the signage could be restored or reinstated it would really spruce up the bus and give it more of an authentic retrospect. Nonetheless it was a great video and a great ride and great scenery of the Calgary area! Thank you for posting
How about a clip of a ride in an SDM 49 passenger. I used to ride in them when I lived in a suburb of Worcester , Ma . and went to school in the city. The company that had them was B & W Lines , based in Framingham.
I'm not entirely sure anymore. From what I recall, the bus was sold to another private collector before being shipped across the Country, so at this time I do not believe it to be scrapped

My heart is with you. I've always wanted to test drive one of these busses.❤

I have myself here on RUclips doing an imitation of the six cylinder two stroke diesel engine in a bus with the automatic transmission shifting.
OMG! Me too! 😂😂
That is a beautiful bus!! I want to drive one so badly!!
I rode these buses when I was growing up, something about that sound, I'll never forget it. Lots of great memories thanks for the video.
I loved riding on these buses but I never thought I'd experience it again, not even in video form. Thanks for the lift back in time.

I was surprised to see North Pointe bus terminal at the beginning of the video. I live near that area.
Going on a Joyful raid on the bus to see...Beautiful sites in just hanging out with the chill shoulder crossing around 😎⭐
I enjoy how you filmed your ride..cheers.

What a great video, I love it!
Looking pretty good. Vintage.
The jet was awesome also!!!!!
I used to ride one in Phoenix, Arizona, a bus belonging to Phoenix Transit System.
The best sound I know... ❤

Beautiful!
There is a couple of these buses just west of Edmonton around Stoney Plain with air conditioning parked
MCTS had those until 2000 I remember they where in green and orange than painted over in white with green stripe

Nice Bus)
ES BELLO Y ME GUSTA COMO SUENA
Eargasmic
I wonder where they found that bus,
You don’t see those buses anymore
17:01 this is CFD station 31???
Yes, it is
2:26 sound like it has a 3 speed with a lock-up torque converter.
I drove these buses in the late 70's and early 80's at SEPTA...they were clapped out JUNK by then 1st gear ONLY WHAT A JOKE SEPTA WAS back then
Was that bus refitted with a 6V92TA? Because it sounded like a 92.
ex spruce meadows , was it an original Calgary transit coach?
Yes
Does it have a hubodometer fitted?
How many gears on this transmission? Sounds like 2 or maybe 3
Rejean Rivard 2
Didn't some New Looks only have a single-speed transmission with lockup torque converter, too?
Most were single speed torque converter with lock up. This one is well adjusted and operating smoothly.
Sounds like it's got an 8V in it.
Nope, it has the 6V71N engine.
Sounds like direct drive
Wath is the unit number? Is this bus still alive or scrap?
I'm not entirely sure anymore. From what I recall, the bus was sold to another private collector before being shipped across the Country, so at this time I do not believe it to be scrapped
El motor se oye como el de los autobuses SOMEX de antaño
General Motors Canadá vai começa importação desses ônibus gmc para Brasil em início de 2024??
I want to do they have any short ones the
6:44
I hope it doesn't explode
Le hubieran puesto un motor Cummings 155
You skip the fair
