Drove fishbowls in the 80s for a charter company in Boston. Love those old things!
That AC system will put ice on the windows when it’s working properly!
Look for a kneeling switch. Some models had a kneel feature to lower the steps closer to curb level. That could be why just the front right is low.
Steer tires on all commercial vehicles must be new. No recaps allowed on steers. 4/32 minimum tread depth.
Rear can be recaps with 2/32 minimum.
I would’ve kept the original flooring mat and carpet over it. Those were built to outlast the vehicle! Even old street cars that were rotted away in Pennsylvania, the flooring was still intact!
Looks like a fun RV conversion project.
Jason Shron from Rapido Trains in Canada has two fishbowls up and running. He put up some videos on RUclips getting the first one going.

Thank you so much for that in depth comment. The reception we are getting from the Bus is amazing. Rob suggested I do a video on this before a motorcycle I had lined up and then it happened. I am excited to dive deeper into the subsystems cost and condition of all the mechanicals. I will check into Jason Shron. Stay tuned as we need viewers that are encyclopedias like you. Thank you again

When I started working for the nfta in Buffalo ny we had 7400 7500 7600 and 7700 series buses when they needed to be primed we removed a plug at the fuel filter and added fuel there until all air bubbles stopped

Rob, I worked on and drove these at Golden Gate Transit. I also own one, and it's the same model.
When you open the battery box/door, look inside the compartment toward the left/front, and there should be a battery on/off switch. A square church/vw key will work just fine for the compartment door.
Oh...i saw in the video.. DONT hit the start button when the engine's running! There's supposed to be a protective fuel pressure switch on the secondary fuel filter, but i didn't see it or the aasociated wiring.
Your buddy is talking about an upgraded a/c. There's no such thing. The bus either had a/c or it didn't.
The transmission is a 3-speed "VS-2," and Golden Gate Transit had these governed to 72.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

@RobsNeighbor , the Microshift on the governor is for the "soft shift" feature for the transmission. The unmarked switch on the left side dash was for the yellow "full" light that's to the left of the destination sign.

Per the detroit manuals yall need to have the high idle on and idle around 1200 rpm these cant low idle as they wont make enough oil pressureto get to the top of the engine effectively and will not cool pistons enough and will tear up your liners and rings. these are meant to operated at wide open throttle not to idle

    • @kevinhornbuckle
      @kevinhornbuckle 4 месяца назад

Never ever turn the a/c while driving. That clutch will do some serious damage when it breaks loose. Always turn a/c on while at idle. Always rev. Engine at 1/3rd throttle. All GM buses with A/c had that shroud to house the condenser and fan on roof. Non A/C models be did not have that housing and had a much larger rear window
