Most people after watching this movie think religion is probably man-made beliefs. However, it's made me look into more of why? Atleast for my own religion and views. Some of my observations are- 1- Once you question things, then you open up possibilities of actually knowing something which will probably unlock your spiritual path (humsnism). 2- In our culture's texts- we have always questioned God but this movie only covers the bhakti (devotion/belief) sect of Hindus which is now very main stream. It's also similar to other faiths where belief is core. 3-Even the "bhakti" tradition and those who worship idols as representation of (diety/form of God) have a logic behind it as well. This movie is good for inviting curiousity inside people, but if it does the opposite where it affirms your already existing ideas then you're exactly like those people shown in the movie who simply beleive & never question why of things or venture out to find answers to differentiate between organized religion and essence of God. Great movie but highly misunderstood.

Love your thoughts on this one. Your next movie should be Barfi or at least add it to your list immediately coz it will blow all your expectations of how a love story is potrayed in the films. It's one of the best subtle romcom drama if not the best. And it's my first recommendation to anyone who likes to watch romantic movies.

Hinduism have a tradition of Shashtrarth where intellectuals and saints debate about the culture and traditions, their merits and demerits and amend them accordingly. So It is not the case that hindus cannot hear something against the religion. In reality we have heared and have discussed those topics. On the otherside a school teacher was only killed because he showed the photo of Mohammad made by french newspaper charlie habdo whose office was attacked by terrorists previously. The creators of this movie had no knowledge of Hinduism which we call as Sanatan dharma. They only wanted to mock the hindus. They didn't know anything about idol worship. They didn't know that in India we don't consider hinduism as a religion because there is no fixed book that we follow and no fixed God that we worship. The arya samaj is a group or sect that do not worship idols but still they follow the vedic traditions of Hinduism. The film showed a hindu Godman, by the way in hinduism there is no concept of Godman, there is a concept of Guru that guides you towards God and there is no middle man between you and God like shown in this movie . But they didn't show any christian priest or Muslim Maulvi and didn't question them on their religion as it didn't suit their agenda. At last I would like to say that Amir khan is not at all a good person. He is one of the biggest superstars in India but he says that he fears to live in India because he is a muslim. Who made him the biggest superstar?? The Majority of India is hindu. They only go to the theatres to watch his movies and he says that he is afraid of him. What a shame?? Any country will criticize the most mainstream religion, in India's case that is Hinduism. Why would they need to critize other religions when hindiusm is the majority with almost 80% of the population following it. If you want to watch criticism of islams go watch some movies from pakistan, Bangladesh, iran or any other Muslim majority country. The creators of this movie had no knowledge of Hinduism which we call as Sanatan dharma. They only wanted to mock the hindus. They didn't know anything about idol worship.
They didn't know that in India we don't consider hinduism as a religion because there is no fixed book that we follow and no fixed God that we worship.
The arya samaj is a group or sect that do not worship idols but still they follow the vedic traditions of Hinduism.
The film showed a hindu Godman, by the way in hinduism there is no concept of Godman, there is a concept of Guru that guides you towards God and there is no middle man between you and God like shown in this movie .
But they didn't show any christian priest or Muslim Maulvi and didn't question them on their religion as it didn't suit their agenda.
At last I would like to say that Amir khan is not at all a good person.

Hi talking about statues [murthy or Vigraha] ga pray status because the end goal in Hinduism is not heaven or hell. We belive in liberation. As abrahamic religions don't belive in reincarnation we believe in it. The soul is constant but it gets the new body or takes rebirth every to clear the souls karmas good deeds and bad deeds. Have you ever thought of their Is no concept of rebirth why some people are born black some are fair, some are rich some are poor, some are healthy some are suffering. It's a deep subject.
We pray we mediate to the god. But while meditating our brain behaves like a monkey goes everywhere does what we say not to. This movie made Amir khan lose his stardom...because the movie didn't criticised other religions the way hinduism was targeted...it irritated me so I started reading religious texts just to verify my beliefs and I realised the absurdity of narrative being pushed around actually Hinduism is nothing as potrayed in the PK movie...so I urge everyone to read Bhagwat Geeta before forming opinons.
Any country will criticize the most mainstream religion, in India's case that is Hinduism. Why would they need to critize other religions when hindiusm is the majority with almost 80% of the population following it. If you want to watch criticism of islams go watch some movies from pakistan, Bangladesh, iran or any other Muslim majority country.
