Running With Scissors! (Glaive Tempest + Momentum)
So you’ve seen me play it on stream and in videos but now you want to try it out for yourself. It’s SUPER easy to play, requires very little management and can actually keep up with some of the other builds, despite simming lower because well, sims aren’t everything and talents work very differently in practical situations.
Now I’m not saying this is THE BEST, ULTIMATE BUILD that leaves everything else in the dust…But if you’re a player who isn’t big on the Inertia style of movement, maybe you’re not a fan of Essence Break and the set up it requires or you’re just looking to switch things up for a change of pace once in a while - This build will be PERFECT for you.
Okay, so this is a build you’ll mainly use on Fortified weeks in M+. You CAN use it on Tyrannical but it’s going to lack some of the Single Target Prio damage something like Essence Break brings.
But hey, since we’ve already thrown the idea of being 100% optimal out the window, go ahead and use it wherever you want.
I was using this build on a Fort week back before Fel Barrage got nerfed and I was easily able to keep up with another Havoc in my group who was running Inertia + Fel Barrage
This build has a lot of upfront burst from Glaive Tempest. What people tend to forget is that the target count for GT was changed - Glaive tempest now does reduced damage beyond 8 targets unlike Fel Barrage which is reduced beyond 5. This makes it an incredibly powerful ability to use in large pulls, especially when its being buffed by Initiative and whichever movement talent you’ve decided to take - with this build we’ll be taking Momentum.
It’s essentially the typical Ignition build with A Fire Inside, Any Means Necessary, Chaotic Disposition and Ragefire but we’ve swapped Essence Break for Glaive Tempest and changed Inertia to Momentum.
You may also notice that we’ve swapped Serrated Glaive for Furious Gaze and this, surprisingly, isn’t exclusive to this build. This is something a lot of players have started doing for their M+ builds now. You would think that the 15% increased damage to Throw Glaive and ultimately, Soulscar would be a no-brainer but the Haste gained from Furious Gaze actually helps out in a lot of ways.
Getting that extra bit of haste after every Eye Beam helps reduce the cooldown on our rotational abilities that are hasted (Meaning the cooldown is reduced by the amount of haste we have) - Immolation Aura, which for obvious reasons is really powerful. The more we reduce the cooldown on Immo Aura, the more we can press it and pump damage into our Ragefires. Blade Dance/Death Sweep is reduced by haste which again, is super impactful because Death Sweep is one of our heaviest hitting abilities and now that it’s combined with Throw Glaive with our 2pc set bonus, it’s even more of a crucial ability. The cooldown on Glaive Tempest is also reduced by haste so you can start to see how Furious Gaze helps with the rotation when playing this build.
The last thing to consider with Furious Gaze is that having that extra bit of haste actually makes the DoT from The Hunt do a lot more damage. As with most DoT’s in the game, The Hunt’s DoT scales with haste and with our 4pc set bonus extending it’s duration to 12s, this is actually huge.
Now you might be asking why we’re choosing to run Momentum over Inertia. Frankly, you dont need to play Momentum. You can totally play Inertia with this build if you want to - but my thought process here is that we’re trying to put together a build that does noticeable damage in M+ while also being easy to play with less opportunities to mess things up.
With the recent changes to how Momentum works, you basically never have to monitor it or even worry about it. The Momentum buff is applied via Fel Rush, Vengeful Retreat and The Hunt (which you’re getting more often due to our 4pc). The Buff also stacks up to a 30s duration now instead of the previous 10s.
This should allow you to get over 90% uptime on the Momentum buff in keys by just Fel Rushing to spend Unbound Chaos and pressing Vengeful Retreat and The Hunt on cooldown.
No need to pay close attention to your Momentum buff to make sure it precisely stacks up with various other buffs and fitting things into tiny buff windows to maximize damage. It just kind of happens on its own.

Solid video, excellent explanations - thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
awesome instruction/information as always, thank you 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Great video❤❤
Haste also affect the Soulscar dot and your auto attacks, which subsequently increases fury generation albeit by a small amount.
Can you drop Furious throws and play with both furious gaze and serrated glaive? or is that bad to do ?
Great video jed ❤ my new go to build
Have fun!
is there a build for maybe st with this without gt ?
best demonhunter videos ever ♥
Which embelishments we run with this? and whats the stat prio ? Thanks sir
best name for a dh build, hands down
hi mate, should we always sync GT with VR for crit buff or inertia buff or we just keep using it on CD , also it should be during demonic form with eye beam or i should use it before eye beam ? i playing with inertia just for more burst i feel it works better :), thanks for ur guides
Tried to change only fel barrage with glaive tempest on m+ - never saw those crazy big numbers in AOE, but rather high damage in all pulls and a bit better performance in ST. Might be running it for the next dungeons. thanks for the tip!
(it works actually ahah)
Hey, i'm in this video! :D
WE MADE IT BBY
Real though, your burst on that double dragons pull was fucking dirty brother. 🤘🏻
Hoping for a "raid" version of a build like this, something that packs a bunch but doesn't require the micromanagement that inertia does.
Is it better dps than the mover build?
What about running Momentum with Essence break instead of Glaive tempest?
Kinda glad they nerfed fel barrage since glaive tempest is taking off now, this is a much more fun alternative than the weird fel barr rotation
Been using GT with inertia and its been going very well, getting over 1m dps on start pulls
I do exactly the same
Same, seems to work on 26 keys so why not :D
Thoughts on upcoming nerfs pls. Havoc still decent?
nice video. there are more below +20M and heroic raid level players to draw in and help then there is top % try-hards to impress with things they already do.
Well said!
Bro I will never play Momentum again, inertia gives so much more freedom. I hope they delete Momentum. One whole Expansion was enough with that.
Need to get rid of Demonic somehow. Tired of being an Illidan Ripoff every Xpack
@rengarlothbrok5696 that’s… exactly what demon hunters are. Illidan created them. Play a different class? Haha
@@Jedithtv I sense my guy can’t tell sarcasm
i find glaive tempest way more easy to use and fun
What is the ideal Haste percentage for Havoc DH for 10.2 - Love to know
id start at 13-14% and then adjust from there
22-24%***
Editing king 👑👑
build import link would help :)
he done TOOK MY BUILD
jkjk
I'm a fairly high rated PvP player that sometimes dips my toes in PvE.
Could a PvE player (preferably Jedith) tell me why every PvE build I see for Havoc is running Collective Anguish instead of Elysian Decree? I am aware there is no "deals reduced damage beyond x targets" on CA, so I can see this being a factor in the M+ side of things due to the large number of enemies, often going past 5 which is the cap for ED, however, would it still not output more damage overall since:
1. The damage is higher on ED than CA
2. The damage of two CA's doesn't even equate to the damage of one ED
Is it more to do with ED using up a button press/gcd than the damage output of ED itself?
As a PvP player I took up using Elysian Decree for the first time properly this season due to it being moved to the class tree, and seeing the sheer amount of burst damage pressure it adds when used in PvP situations, so I am naturally wondering as to why such a high damage ability on a relatively short CD is completely ignored in PvE.
when you meta, you eye beam twice, so it procs twice. it hasmore defensive/healing ability i believe, maybe it does more on single target ? but thats a good question, i would love to use ED too instead if it makes sense.
I used it and dmg is good also u get heals from souls ....
I wonder how much this changes our Stat Prio. I know Haste has been simming super poorly for me all season. Maybe GT can make a less optimized build perform better?
No import code..
Where is the import code? :)
In my discord
Am I crazy? Where is the import code?
