Lmao. I did the same last night. I showed my wife and said I might get it. Then when she fell asleep I hit order. I can’t wait until Friday. How do you like it so far?
What an excellent review style. Lots of folks technically follow the play/talk/play/talk idea, but the pacing and editing make this really engaging. Lots of good information as well.
I was thinking the exact same thing, I feel because of the short bursts of information, followed by the music, I was able to retain the information so much more efficiently! Awesome review!
I just got mine for $149 delivered. Oh my! Rick, thanks again for a great review and for motivating me to buy another one of your reviewed guitars. This makes two. Thanks, keep it real and keep it live!
This is a perfect review for this guitar (which I recently purchased to scratch an electric itch I haven't had in 10 years). It's a highly serviceable guitar as you can tell from Rick's playing. He's spot-on about the machine heads. I immediately replaced mine with Grover mid-size and put Kluson Keystone pearloid buttons on it. The classiest look you can add to this guitar. The guitar will take some fine tuning despite what appears to be consistently good intonation out of the box. I took my nut slots down just a touch and widened a whisper to better accommodate 10-46 strings (I believe it was machine-cut for 9s). Super review, brother. Thanks.
Very cool stuff Rick, thanks a million for setting another guitar up for me. Can't wait to play it and see how she feels with the setup. I've been really happy with all of the IYV/IVY guitars to date, they are really well made guitars for the price! I like the playing on this one, some cool stuff around 3:45 mark or so and 6:30 or so.
@@RickRomanelli Absolutely. I have a beautiful acoustic on the way that I think you are going to really like, it's about 30 days behind on the delivery at this point. Yeah, this IYV has a really nice fretboard, one of the nicest I have on any of my guitars actually...
Excellent review, my Friend. Love your style of demo and then explaining things. And your musicianship and selection of demo music is terrific. I look forward to more of your Vids, Rick. PS - I own the IYV TELE which is truly a wonderful guitar at only $130!!! Thanks again-stay well.

So I put on a set of 49-11's, and the guitar came to life. When I checked the truss rod with the stock 46 10 set it was almost loose. So, I think this guitar was designed to really work with some strings with some acoustic balls, as that get the top vibrating. Your mileage may very, but I recommend you give 49-11's a try. It didn't require a truss rod adjustment. I ran the string tension using the equations as D Addario and an 11 on this guitar is just sligtly more tension than a 10 on a 25.5" scale.
Awesome review. I bought that guitar and love mine! I have an American hollow body at 8 times the cost and they are close in all-around playability! The details are better on the expensive one but not that much really. A few mods and this is very nice!
My friend has one of these and I literally just ordered this after playing on it like 5 times this has many tonal options it can do hard rock, country, grunge and many others if you out your mind to it
Amazing quality and sound for a stock guitar. With a pair of Seth's, bone nut, ABR upgrade and tuners, it can be a killer and reliable gigging/rehearsal guitar.
Yeah, its like a single-cut version of the 335. I had the big brother (which is a whole lot like the Birdland) on the way but Amazon dropped the ball and I canceled the sale. Honestly, have since found a Gretsch that meets my needs better anyway, just waiting for a used price I like better. Btw, nice chops man, subbing now. Thanks, great review.
Well, that's high praise so I am quite flattered. I hope you dig the guitar. This one was borrowed (hence the "very, very carful"). It belongs to a great friend who really loves it. Thanks for the nice comment.
good playing! How is the neck width? I have their headless, ISHL-500 but the neck is too narrow for me, starts 40 mm at nut, then at fret 12 is still narrower than a stratocaster.
I've already bought three of these guitars and I'm going to buy every single one they have by the name brand iyv. The quality of these instruments blows my mind cuz they're better than Squires for less than two hundred bucks
Thanks for the review on this guitar.Based on your review and a couple of others,I decided to pull the trigger and see for myself.I just received mine today and out of the box it is very playable.I haven't checked the intonation with a tuner, but everything is close.Nice straight neck, action is set lower than my preference, but it will adjust nicely.Pick-ups are fine,I have a set of SD '59's I was going to swap in,but it isn't worth the trouble and they don't have covers anyway,so...a few minor finish flaws, nothing at all to complain about for a sub $200 guitar. Most of the spots on the finish I found turned out to be some sort of glue or paste that comes right off anyway.I will condition the fretboard, polish the frets and edges of the fretboard, give it a thorough cleaning and it will be hard to spot any finish issues. The nut appears to be plastic,I'll fine tune it a bit, heard some of the strings pop when tuning it.I will eventually cut a bone nut for it one of these days when I'm bored enough. All in all,I am completely thrilled with what I got for less than $200 and am thinking about snapping up one of the IYV mustangs as well.
Lamentablemente no soy el dueño de esta guitarra. Sólo lo tomé prestado de un amigo. Puede depender de quién sea el distribuidor de guitarras. ¡Gracias por ver!

Well, you can't judge a pickup until it's under your strings. I've had both good and bad luck with affordable pickups so I am hesitant to recommend them. These are supposed to do the Gretsch thing well, tvjones.com/tv-classic-bridge-humbucker-mount/#product-tab-addition-326 but they cost more than that guitar. If you find something similar that costs less, you'd have to try and see. Maybe you should buy a Gretsch? Thanks for watching!

Hey Rick. :) Nice jam and review as usual. I really want to get a semi or hollow but just can't find the one. Double cut 339 size with a neck no smaller then say a PRS fat wide and a head stock that doesn't need to visit the bandsaw. Price up to 1500. I'd almost convinced myself on the PRS SE Hollowbody but then I realized it's probably bigger then a 355. Damn Ephiphone and their 60s surfer necks. Cheers mate I enjoyed the review.
i just got one of these as of september 20/2020, and mine does not have all the same shape as yours. it has a rounded headstock not the crown. and the single cutout area is not half moon like yours.more flat and a curve and my back is NOT a tobacco burst to amber. but a solid brown (tobacco) color. :( all in all mine is excellent quality. frets were perfect, but needed polishing. I relieved the truss rod by 1/4 turn, as there was slight buzz. and the truss rod cover on mine only has 1 screw. The nut was a bit short and edges were sharp and I rounded that. As for the Korean name on the headstock that means "destiny music". everything else was great! the PUPs are Alino2 magnets. oh and I agree the tuners are cheap, but get the job done! Inyen Vina is the name of the company.... thanks
Hey I own this guitar and the IYV PRS copy in trans black. Did you ever compare this guitar to similar Ibanez guitars in a similar price range? A hundred bucks either way is not going to make a difference to me. Thanks for your review.
Hi John. It's a borrowed guitar (hence the very, very careful review) so I didn't get a chance to compare much. I have played the Ibanez semis They have cool-sounding pickups. This particular guitar is a great comparison to those. Experiences will vary. If you can find an Epiphone from late 90s-early 00s, those are pretty good. I think they are all hit or miss. Thanks for watching.
Hey Lance. I have played a couple of Streamliners. They are very good quality, probably better than this, but not that much. The Streamliners I tried had a weird shaped neck. Like a D shape but kinda squared off. Maybe I imagined it. I really liked the small-body semi-hollow Gretsch Streamliner.
@@RickRomanelli you're right about the D shape, but I really like it actually, and love the tone and setup. Mine has the Bigsby which I also love! Thanks again!

Used Eastman or D'Angelico. Those are both great. Thank you for watching!

Thanks Ed. This is a little over your limit then. I think it's lovely. www.eastmanguitars.com/romeo_sc
That is lovely, I'd love to try one.
i just got one of these as of september 20/2020, and mine does not have all the same shape as yours. it has a rounded headstock not the crown. and the single cutout area is not half moon like yours.more flat and a curve and my back is NOT a tobacco burst to amber. but a solid brown (tobacco) color. Inyen Vina is the name of the company.... thanks
Thanks for all the information. Thanks for watching and commenting as well.
An ordering one next week, what size strings are best? Would love get some feed back.
Im picking one up. Also, where can I find that fire backing track??
Never mind. I just saw the link in the description. Lol
Great guitar glad I bought it!
Good choice!
Great demo! How similar is this to Gretch Streamliner G2622? I have one that I love, but this looks and sounds sweet!
$149 on Amazon right now. Do you still think its a good buy after a few years?
Well, it's not mine, so I didn't buy it. I do think it's a very good buy though.
no fair. youd make any guitar sound great
IYV ITF 400 TRD PRS, How about one of your very, very careful reviews? Your assessment is very important and you can give a true idea of the tone capabilities. Thanks!!!
Well, those do look cool. Unfortunately, I borrow these from a friend. If he doesn't order one, the review doesn't get made. That was a really kind thing to say about my reviews though. Thanks for watching.
what case fits this guitar
Sorry Ruben. I honestly have no idea. The owner sent it along in a gig bag. I can't even remember what kind. Similar size as a 335 but I can't be certain. Thanks for watching.
A lot of woodsheding to play that good. Where are you playing? I’d go see you!
In southwestern PA near Pittsburgh. We're done with the summer season though. We may do some indoor stuff but it depends on the virus. Thanks. That's a nice compliment.
what strings they put on em
I think I remember they had D'addario on them. It wasn't my guitar. Thanks for watching!
If it were plek'd there shouldn't any need for fret work at all. Great review!
Thanks!
Excellent. Love the riffing in between. Bought one. Needs new strings. Which backing track from AUsher is that?
Hi! It's from AUsher Tracks Discography 1. It's called 44 Righteous Funk in F. I bought the collection. Once I record them, it's tough to find them on RUclips so I link his sound cloud stuff. Thanks for watching!
@@RickRomanelli Appreciate you.
Hell d like to have the full name in scroll across instead of i y v
You convinced me. Thanks.....🙏👍🏻
Great 👍
As of 2/5/21 it is available again on Amazon for 196 + taxes won't last long very popular
That's cool. My friend who lends me these to review has bought 3 or 4 IYV guitars. This is his favorite. Thanks for watching!
What a Beauty...would Like to have one Like thisbut OK ..still can Not plgroay at all right now,so i have to be good with listening to yourexquisit playing groivy Upload 😊
thank you I own one of thier other models
That's how to do a gear review for sure!
Thank you very much. I'm proud of my videos.
Thanks for the review Rick. Was the action too high on the first fret? did you mention you had to adjust that by adjusting the nut?
Yes it was. These budget guitars get rushed out the door. I file them until the note on the 2nd fret is in tune like the open note. Nobody taught me that, but it seems to work.
Rick..I also liked the improvisations you were playing and backing track...how can I get the tabs for the solo and the backing track? Website? Thanks brother
