Thanks. I love that you are watching my little videos. Thanks for the nice compliment on my friend, Fred. I'm so happy when I get comments like this. Thanks again.
Thanks. I rewatched your video again and realize you say it right at the start. Should have listened more carefully but that never been my strong suit 😉
I bought one, and I love it. I haven't even worked on it yet....but I have a question..... does the tremolo bar just stay in there? I heard there was a set screw, but I don't see one.
If I am not mistaken, A P-rail is made to fit in a humbucker-sized route. Duncan and DiMarzio make Rail-type single coil-sized humbuckers. The Lil' 59, maybe a stacked humbucker, or maybe something like a 1/4 Pounder. Those would all sound more heavy than the pickups in the IYV. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Very well done. I just got one of these today. I’ll give it a week to acclimate to my office, but it is a hot mess out of the box. Intonation is horrendous. High e string broke first time it tried to tune it. Neck pocket cuts are jagged. This one is light yellow. No green tint at all. Hoping that I can do a setup and make it sound decent. Terrible right out of the box.
@@GearreportdotCom I think you'll be able to set it up. I'd take a look at changing the pickups though. Unless you like that REALLY light sound. Thanks for watching!
Can't wait to get this one back Rick, sounds great on the video. Loved the tone you had on it, seemed like a great fit. I also thought the neck was a bit unfinished and felt thick, or maybe just 'solid'. Stoked to see how it plays, thanks again for featuring the jam track and for the setup (and also the sub request on my behalf)!!!
I bought one and I love it! I actually really like the shorter scale and the feel of the strings. Such a cool guitar. And now I'm a fan of iyv guitars and I just purchased another one. The Green LP.
@@user-mt4vo4ey5n Oh no. I hadn't thought about that. I guess I shouldn't enjoy whole Foods pasta as much as I do. In the end, people will spend money on what they like. I'm just a guitar player on youtube trying to build my channel. I really don't care about Jeff Bezos, or your opinion.
I just got mine from eBay. Free S/H, a discount and with state sales tax, $100.48. When I got it here a few days ago, I noticed a QC sticker on the back of the head stock. I plan on doing my own set up. I'll change the strings, do the lemon oil on the fretboard, .0000 wool for the frets. Basic intonation adjustment. I don't expect much for a Hundo, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. I've certainly played far worse for more money. The only other guitar I've ever had that was a Mustang type was a 1997 MIJ Squier Super Sonic. I'd recommend this for a Noob, anyone really who wants this style of guitar.
I have the HB version and the bridge on mine sucks. The saddles are too small and move side to side and rattle like crazy. Other than that a beautiful guitar and the short scale is fun. I would say be prepared to spend another 20 bucks for a bridge or just get a cheap Strat. The Strat style bridge is vastly superior.
I like yer review! I'm a major fan of cheap guitars, having 30 plus of them. I REALLY want this IYV Mustang! The reviews are ALL good. But I have J MACSIS Jazzmaster and a Chinese counterfeit Fender Jaguar. The Chag is magnificent after quite a bit of work I did to it. On it. So what the heck do I need another guitar for? Because. I guess. I love them all. After my wife of 54 years, they light up my life 2nd best!
Guess what. I DID somehow wind up with the IYV Mustang copy. Very impressive. Low action, NO fret sprout, no flaws, no complaints. I dint even change strings! I didn't expect this. I would not hesitate to buy another but fortunately they're ALWAYS currently unavailable. Whew!
I had the bullet model and it wasn't close to this, although it was kinda cool in a scrappy punk way. I played both the Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified and they were no better than this. In fact, I thought the hardware was awful on both of those. Having said that, it could be luck of the draw either way. Haha! Glad I'm not getting paid by Fender I guess.
@@RickRomanelli do you miss the phase control? I've never played a mustang, so I'm not even sure if it's worth looking for one with the standard (phase) option.
it has a beautiful sound but it seems it has not much stability on tuners but maybe adjusting it and changing tuners it can be a good one... the guitar is beautiful!!

Great Review and great playing. Do you know if the pickup switches can be replaced with in/out of phase switches without major modification and where to locate them. These guitars are selling out and a review on this modification would sure be a use help to us mere mortals.
I imagine that would be possible, but I would have no idea how to do it. I suspect those switches could be replaced with a toggle switch, but you may have to do some routing. I only know how to fix little nuisances. Thanks for watching and commenting and PEACE!!!
I actually just picked one of these up from NStuff about a week ago, and I gotta agree. For what its worth, for me was about $150, it feels as good as a lower end/budget guitar can feel. The only real issue I have with it is when ya throw it through some OD/Distortion with both pickups active, it sounds very muddy. Maybe thats just my rig, or maybe its an issue with the guitar itself. Glad to see my impulse buy was backed up by a familiar face! Cheers, Mr. R, hope alls well!

It seems to be a good representation of what it is supposed to be a copy of, and it was awesome in your hands, but for a beginner with no skill at doing setups maybe not so good. Also I noticed that when you lifted the guitar towards your face it had some microphonic uhhh qualities. Great review as always Rick. Thanks for giving me something to do for a few minutes. 😉👍
