IYV Mustang, but I modded it the point of no return.

  • This is my doom guitar. If you can find an IYV mustang or Harley Benton (they are the same) they make Ames one modding platforms.
    As you can see this one is now essentially a more accurate pawnshop mustang. Considering the original didn’t have real wide ranges.

    Cool build. If you run two 500k/250k stacked volume pots and wire the pups to the pots then to the selector switch. You can wire from the slider switch that splits the coils to the 250k side and full humbucker through the 500k side.
    Coils split/single coils can sound a little harsh and thin through 500k pots.

      It’s actually 1 Meg pots. That’s what fender used back then.

      This is what I am wanting to do with fender dual pots, can't find a wiring diagram for it so guess I am going to have to figure it out.

      @@xrenox1 so instead of having the pickups go directly to the switch have them go to the pots then go to the switch then the output of the switch to the jack.

    I looks great and I love the idea but honestly you should replace the pick guard or alter the bottom horn part, it’s a really good attempt at it but a proper pick guard would really bring it all together.

    Seems thicker than a standard Mustang, is it heavier? The mods were super.😊

    • @googaboogaloo
      @googaboogaloo  Год назад +1

      Thank you! It is thicker. The bodies on there are like 1 3/4” which is insane considering the originals were 1 1/2”. It’s not bad, maybe about as heavy as my strat.

  • @mattypatties

    Did the Jaguar bridge and vibrato fit or did you have to further modify the body?

    • @googaboogaloo
      @googaboogaloo  Год назад

      I had to rout a little because some Jaguar teens have a lock on them and I needed to rout the body to fit that

    • @googaboogaloo

      It the neck you have is 24” scale and 2 1/8” it should fit.

  • @Floodland-bn3ol

    What tunomatic bridge did you install on it? Does it sit on the original posts? Thanks

    • @googaboogaloo
      @googaboogaloo  Год назад +1

      I used a Schaller and I used a caliper to measure the posts of that and drilled the posts that were in the body out and they just slipped right in. It’s not ideal but it worked for me. I only used the Schaller bridge because I could adjust the string spacing easily and the radius matched the neck.

    You can’t go to a 24 3/4 scale unless you move the bridge.

    • @googaboogaloo
      @googaboogaloo  Год назад +1

      No you would have to move it back 3/4” I don’t think a conversion neck would work either. But I have a mustang body I’m making 24.75. I haven’t fit the neck yet, I have to glue the fingerboard board on the neck before I can get that far.

    • @googaboogaloo

      It is a coil split though I wired it that way. So I can select half the pickup. I had them custom made so that I could do that .
