    I grew up eating southern green beans since my Dad is from Virginia, but they were always plain. Maybe had some ham in them. Nothing like this awesomeness!!! I would definitely brown my sausage too. I think it makes it taste better. lol

      I used a stovetop pressure cooker for decades, but I couldn't find the sealing gaskets any longer, so I broke down and bought a 6 qt. electric Instant Pot. In my stovetop PC, I had NEVER thought of cooking anything but pot roast, beef stew, green beans, things like that. But since the Instant Pot has become so popular, many, many other options (recipes) are available. I make ribs (St. Louis and baby back) that are very good. Notice I did not say BBQ, but ribs mid week, yes please! I even made a FANTASTIC Meyer lemon (I have a tree!) cheesecake in my Instant Pot! I liked my 6 qt so well, that I bought an 8 qt Instant Pot, now I can make BIG batches of everything and freeze half for another night! "Prime Day" is coming up soon (might be tomorrow!) should have a good deal on a 6 qt model.

      They came out southern style - not crisp on any level, but they hold their shape and structure when you stir them about. If you wanted more crisp, reduce the pressure time in increments until you find the texture you like.

    The "pot in pot" thing is intriguing to me! Two questions,
    1. Do you think you could use any heatproof dish to cook the rice?
    2. What type of rice did you cook, long grain, Jasmine, sticky, converted... inquiring minds want to know!
    And man oh man, I LOVE green beans cooked this way, with potatoes and until they're "leathery" as my Mammaw used to say! Mmm mmm good!

    Instead of rice could u do like some frozen chicken tender with seasoning and broth am new at instant pot user

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  4 года назад

      Sure you could, as long as you use tenders. A chicken breast would take longer, I think, so if you want to go with breast, I would recommend cutting it in halves or thirds, depending on the size. Also, you don't "need" broth with the chicken. You could certainly put it, but I would put much. You can also just season with a bit of butter, butter optional. Or you could season and/or add your favorite marinade.
      If you give it a shot, let me know how it turns out for you!
