Just a quick comment, I found that you have to put the key in the ignition, turn the ignition on and off, remove keys and then you can lock/unlock the car.
Hi, great video. Mine isn't working with new battery. The four contacts just under the buttons seem like they are greased with something when i opened it. Is this correct, just that you say the contacts should be free of grease but I wasnt sure did you mean on the other side off the circuit board ie between the circuit board and the battery. The grease is between the board and the rubber buttons? Thanks
And I have tried it without the small screw, with the screw loose and with the screw tighter. I have checked the battery powers something else so I guess it must be something to do with how I have it put together?
@@barryobrien124 They are a bit fiddly to put together. Keep trying, making sure the spring contacts align and touch the circuit board contacts and battery. Do it slowly and press home fully without trapping the contacts. If you come to the conclusion the thing doesn't work at all (the buttons fail over time), new boards can be bought online which don't need programming like other cars, as long as you use the original chip and key fob you should be able to pair it to the car easily. Hope this helps :-)
@Barry O'Brien Is your battery the right way up? Positive should be face down.
What if your key fob does not work after replacing your battery
You can replace the board and use the existing chip, then pair and it should work if you get the right one. I did this one time from Ebay, but sadly can't find a link now. :-)
Does this also apply to the s type?
yes
Great video thanks. But I would love to get hold of the idiot who designed this key fob :-)
One good thing is you can get new ones off eBay and pair them to the car easily, but battery fitness and the range could have been better :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey ah ok thanks. How do you pair them to the car, can I do it myself ?
