It’s a classic as far as I’m concerned, just look at it. These were great cars, criminally underrated and unfairly ignored. I loved mine. Get your gearbox oil changed if it hasn’t been done already! Loved the XJ section, what a nice fella Brian is. Great video.
To own a 2007 model x type 2.0D in Turkey means paying 12.000~30.000 GBP. Believe me, You are lucky for live in England, the paradise of these beautiful and cheap cars. I also buy my spare parts on ebay and pay a lot of shipping and taxes. This may sound crazy but I love this car. In my home country people's fear of this car is that spare parts and service are expensive. It's actually a intriguing car and anybody know about it. I think it's one of the last classics in the transition to modern times. I find it worth reading the jaguar forums to understand the problems or issues and then compiling them and explaining them to the mechanics here for minutes. I think there's an old soul in the design. My friends and people around me sympathize with the x type. When I travel in this car , I feel a peacefulness that reminds me of the old times.Great video! Thanks Sir.
I have the Mondeo that this Jag is underpinned on, not a bad thing at all, I like both , both are good cars, my previous car was a Rover underpinned on a Honda, it’s sensible manufacturing and business sense, my Mondeo is an absolute delight to drive it’s 18 yrs old now, one owner on 72k , these Jags were sadly slated and undervalued and underrated particularly by the media. I think it’ll become very collectible, as with the Mk3 Mondeo as that now has quite a following. A modern SUV doesn’t cut it for me at all.
I found your arrival a great watch and agree 100 per cent. I also believe the type is totally under estimated. I have owned a 2003 Xtype for the last 4 years and l receive all l am looking for both in the drive and comfort. Woody Perth Western Australia
Great to know that you’re doing well with your x type and let’s not forget these cars are around 20 years old now and they still look great 😊 Iconic Brands
@Sodasoloman rust. !! Sticking door handles And on automatic if it doesn’t start take out of park and put back in park happens rarely Will do another video in the future Otherwise a lovely car that is underrated
@@IconicBrands123 Yep I love the Fiat Spider.... any that I see parked up I have to go and give an all round inspection... My o/h loves her little mk1.... she loves the pop up headlights... I'm searching around for someone to do a full respray as being red it suffers from 'pink-out,' and with its long life of polishing the paint has worn through to the undercoat in places.
I agree with you, my wife thinks so. I like driving it better than my much newer skoda superb. The ride and handling are great for comforrable journeys. I also like the auto-wipers, lights and rear view auto anti-glare dip. The electric seats with lumber support and the heated seats work quicker than the superb turning itself off before your bum gets too hot. Sat nav is a bit annoying needing street name as well as town, but if you know the post code it works well. Mines the deisel 2.0L and gentle running I can get over 60mpg beleive it or not. I've just welded up the sills and renovated/protected all the underbody with wax-oiling to follow before it falls apart :-)
I’ve not got all the equipment that you have in your X type, I always get the feeling that only a Jaguar gives you whatever i drive the car , thanks for sharing your experience with your jaguar
I have a 2008 2.0D which I love, tax is only £190 per year and it does 60MPG on long runs and is hard pressed to go under 47 mpg during normal driving, I've done a lot of work and upgrades on mine since I had it as I want to keep it for the long term, they are brilliant cars and its far more reliable than the old XJR sport I had in the early 2000's which was constantly giving me mostly electrical headaches, Ford being involved with Jaguar at this point made the cars so much more reliable and anyone who can't afford the running or road tax of the petrol versions should look at the diesel ones as they are still brilliant cars and if you stick to the oil change schedule every year and spray a can of turbo cleaner into the air intake at each service in my experience it will serve you well, and if you want it to sound much smoother and quieter then fitting an overrunning alternator pulley (OAP) will only set you back about £30 in the part and about an hours labour at most with someone who knows what they are doing, or even do it yourself like I did. All cars look the same nowadays and I've had more complimentary comments about the X-type than I ever did about the XJR Sport ;-)
This is the most important part about buying or keeping an X type is How well it survives from rust , glad you like the x type and continue with your car and iconic Brands
Let the naysayers say what they will about the Jaguar X Type. I have owned a rust-free example of the 3.0 2005 for 4 years now, and I love it. Drive one before you judge it. sure, it's not an XJ, but it's still a Jaguar. Mine even has the Leaper Hood ornament.
Why are these old Jaguars so cheap?. Well it because Jaguars were never made for the masses until reasently when Ta Ta bought them. Jaguars in the past were made for the few and were never that popular with the majority, like BMW and or Mercedes-Benz. And so you either get them or you don't.Jaguars were rather a unique car and popularity is more important to most than uniqueness.
Only 19 percent of the car is Ford shame it’s not more for new parts accessibility As an ex employee of jaguar I know the difference between the mondeo and this is a far better car taking advantage of the excellent handling and suspension the mondeo offers plus an excellent performing engine . Even the Bentley GT has VW part’s nothing new about this these days enjoy the car as it is and yes not an SUV 🙂
First of all mondeo is a very good car secondly it is over 80% jaguar. Now I'm not sure if you paid attention in your maths lessons at school but that makes the majority of the cars make up is jaguar
Had the 3l V6 brand new in 2003.....it's the only vehicle....and. Definitely THE ONLY CAR....I personally.... HATE!... Gave it away...not worth selling it😂😂

Yes that’s true ! Having the Ford DNA is an Advantage Even a Bentley has VW parts !!
Jeremy Clarkson was quite found of these cars, and all his reviews were positive of the X-type. Which makes sense, as he likes both Jags and Fords.
They share the first 13 inches on the floor pan, that's it. Ex Jaguar Whitley X Type R&D engineer 😎

My 21 yrs of ownership with Jaguar X-types tells the X-type is satisfying, rewarding, still makes me confident and relaxed behind the wheel.
Agree, X type is a competent well balanced car
