    I have the same car but auto. My spare key randomly got stuck inside ignition, finally got it free by wiggling it. Im using my original key again and it still feels like it could get stuck again.... will this programming of they keys again possibly fix this?

    • @HatBoyHarvey

      No, the mechanical part of the key is completely separate to the electronics.

    Hi
    Great video! thanks!
    Dumb question though, do you know is this is for a 2nd hand key (such as getting a key from a wrecker) or a new key on ebay?
    Someone help with my query?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  3 года назад +1

      As long as the fequency is the same it can be programmed like this, but the transponder from another car will not work until that is programmed to the car by an auto locksmith or dealer. The actual flip key part can be purchased as a blank off ebay and cut, but this needs a specialist cutter for these keys.

    Very help tutorial. However, I was wondering which key is in the ignition. The original or a new blank? I bought a new blank from eBay and want to try this. Thanks again

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Год назад +1

      Good question, The original key has a transponder in the top key part to work. What I am programming in the video is the bottom part of the key, if you want a whole new key to work it needs the transponder chip programming to the same as your original one. This can best be done at a local locksmiths that code transponder keys.

    • @geoffkendall2006
      @geoffkendall2006 Год назад

      I put the new 'buttons' end onto the old 'key' front end - just split both keys in half like you do when changing the battery (no need to expose the circuit board - just separate the two halves and swap them), swap new 'buttons' half for the old 'buttons' half. Chuck the old buttons and the new blank key bit. Pair as above, cleaning up the ignition lock with WD40 and exercise first (do it, necessary).

    • @geoffkendall2006
      @geoffkendall2006 Год назад

      Like I say, just swap the new 'buttons' half of the key fob in and attach it to the front half of your old key fob (which has the transponder in it) @@HatBoyHarvey

    I have only 1 key, is there any chance to do something? The key signals stopped working..

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Год назад

      These can be tememental at times. The little microswitches fail either by the sodered joints or the button gets clogged with use and stopspressing. These can be replaced (ebay etc) if you are good with a soldering iron,but new boards are available on the internet and shoud work by pairing it, ebay has some. I have found that the battery contacts have to be just in the right place when you put the fob back together and may need a few "goes" to work, I have had this a number of times.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  8 месяцев назад

      Sounds like you need to buy an new key. They can be had for very little online, ebay and work, easy to program, just like the video -)

  • @sebastianmarkowski3039
    @sebastianmarkowski3039 4 года назад

    Hi I solved it. I did just like on movie but it doesnt work at the end as it is showed here. So I drove a car a little and then stopped. Then doors started to work properly from the key closing and opening as previously.

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  4 года назад +1

      You need to check the state of your main car battery. If the doors didn't work after you paired them, then it is likely that there wasn't enough power to actuate the locking motors which did work after the car was driven charging the battery enough for it to work. If the battery is in good order then it would most likely have been an electrical connection intermittent glitch such as corrosion/bad contact somewhere. Glad you have your car up and running again :-)

    Hi, my lock button has always been problematic. I have to press it very hard to make it work. Unlock and boot open OK. Panic/Courtesy light never worked. Took key apart, new battery but had same issue. Used some contact cleaner on the switch buttons as they were full of verdi grease. Got the panic light button to work then it didn't. So broken or cold solder joints probably. Is it worth trying to resolder the tiny buttons? Can you buy the printed circuit boards? Im in New Zealand and the car was an import from Japan. 3.0L AWD Sovereign Auto 2005. Doesn't have an alarm system interestingly. Not sure if thats market specific or if its been disabled?? Anyway I understand the frequencies are market/country specific?? How do I know which one to buy if they are available?? Thanks

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Год назад +2

      Hi, you need to find the VIN code for your car and then decode it to find what frequency the car is set at. Most are international at 433Mhz, but The Jaguar Parts Catalogue shows the 2005 X-Type Key Fob for Japan as 315mhz. Search online to decipher your VIN is the safest for you. Then the replacement key parts are cheaply and easily available on Ebay; I've used those a number of times and they are easy and work. you can buy new buttons, but it is fiddly and not worth it as I say the whole board and key is cheap. Hope this helps. Oh, by the way I am publishing a new Jag video this Sunday so you may want to tune in for that one :-)

    • @allanpennington
      @allanpennington Год назад

      @@HatBoyHarvey Thanks, I have the VIN. Which letter or number in the sequence denotes the frequency?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Год назад

      I just looked it up online and the first 3 numbers SAJ denote Jaguar and the 4th digit denotes the market. If this is K then the car is made for Japan market A is rest of world.
