As a former Salvationist (Salvation Army) Brass music hold a special significance to me. The emotion from a Brass band cannot be replicated by any other genre. When you have such a brilliant film which really captured the reality of life for the Miners and communities at that time, paired with the excellence of Grimethorpe Colliery Band, well the results are in the continued respect and love for this film shown by so many aftre all these years.

I was there that night. This movie moved me so many times over the years and to hear Grimethorpe play it live in the room it was set in was one of the highlights of my life. I cried many many times during this performance. A truly special night of music and respect. Jarrod.

This is so much better & emotional than the guitar & orchestra rendition . I lived in a mining community & can relate to seeing my neighbours having their livelihoods taken away as two pits were closed . Such a bitter sweet film , made all the more human & personal by the music and its impact within the film

I disagree. I listened to this and immediately I heard the richness of the echoes from within the hall. It does make notes more blurred but it gives a fullness to the sound. So although you lack the precision of a recording studio it is made up for by ambience.
