I had this piece played at my wifes funeral but instead of brass it was played by John Williamson the guitarist with the backing of a symphone orchestra still brings tears to me. Both recordings are beautiful.
@@jimspink2922 John Williams... but yea my favourite guitar concerto... it holds a special place in my heart... my father and i took a road trip and we blasted it :)
This was filmed only a few miles from where we lived. I Lived through those memory clips there.I have to say it breaks my heart every time I watch this film, and this music piece inparticular.Peter P portrayng the miner, suffering with black lung is a masterpiece of acting. They were dark and very difficult times indeed. Some families never managed to recover financially from the repercussions of the Strike, or the consequences of the working environment on miners working the pit face. Most kids these days dont appreciate how easy they actually have it most of the time.
This piece is giving me goose bumps too each time I hear it. A rare combination of Drums and orchestral sound, and the trumpet ... a personal all time fav, across ALL genres!
Just watched clip again 😢my granddad and uncle were miners and this music always brings a tear to my eyes ( 25 November 24) fantastic acting by late great Peter
Watched it so many times, but the goose bumps remain. What a wonderful film. Billy Elliot was one I saw many times. Tiny budget but unforgettable movies 🎥🎥🎥🎥
Un film coup de poing particulièrement émouvant et une des plus belles scènes du film ! A voir et revoir ! Extraordinaire Pete Postlethwaite... décédé trop tôt
I am from Barnsley. I love brass band music. I remember the miners marching back to work behind brass bands at the end of the miners strike in the 1980's. Many of my family worked down the pit. My Uncle was a pit deputy my Grandad died from coal worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP), also known as black lung disease after finishing working down the pit, consequently my Grandma did not want my Dad to go down the pit so he ended up at Stocksbridge Steelworks near Sheffield.
Absolutely one of my favorites.movies, such true emotions as to what was happening to the mining industry and the latest ves it destroyed.Supurb acting and the music especially the beautiful Tara Fitzgerald solo still brings a lump to my throat. Brilliant, one of my favourite movies that u never tire of seeing.
Pete's acting and the music, it's hard to tell who gave the greater performance. There was never a better actor, nor was there ever a better piece of music, just my opinion
There's acting...then there's been so in tune (no pun intended) with the story you're trying to tell. Regardless of film taste, musical taste, whatever taste, this is one of the most perfectly filmed scenes out there
By Jove !!! Till now, I thought I didn’t like brass instruments !!! Now I am in love, what a shock, that’s amazing, that’s fabulous :) Thank you UTube for sharing.
Brilliant film all true to life my dad was a miner at Monkwearmouth in Sunderland....Now these guys were real men im so proud im a miners daughter and come from a long heritage of miners ...
It breaks my heart to see scenes like this and remember the miners of the old days and the miner bands and what has happened to the country and the people who are gone now 😢😢😢
This works for the simple reason that these men and lady wanted to feel good about something they were doing in a very dark time for the town they lived in!! A very simple and sweet story!!
Wow, a wonderful trip down memory lane - for this piece of music, this beautifully made sad film, and for so many excellent young actors who went on to bring such joy and meaning in their acting in the ensuing years.
Yes this is one of my emotional relax time listening. Although such a political music compilation depending what side you lean too. Absolutely a great movie and the music is superb but it divides the listeners and starts so many arguments and escalates to hatred. This video and music has so much meaning to the Brits that were involved. The family's, the wages and jobs within the mining industry wiped out. Things had to change but it changed into a war that i could understand as no viable employment alternative in the areas. It was done so quick but maybe not as we will never know the true facts....i guess i will be bombarded with yes we did. Unfortunately it had to happen but maybe it wouldn't with correct management but me to say. After all said the music should inspire you to like and enjoy . All i know is this is a great interpretation of music and feelings that gives us joy listening. .
I can't think of a musical moment - video or otherwise that moves me more than this performance, to think that forty or so years later my own son has no context for it, to feel it. At the same time the pretended great legend of what was a truly evil woman with her stained hooks in power goes from strength to strength as if undeniable.
The acting is superb, the plot compelling, the music beautiful, and Tara Fitzgerald is gorgeous. What a fine movie!
You mean Gloria.......

no need to mention a woman's beauty, you sexist!!
Cant think of anything so beautifull as this Piece of music

This number always makes me cry!
It was written after Joaquin Rodrigo, lost a child!😭
Joachim Rodriguez, wrote this after he lost a child!
The whole second half of the film has me in tears.
I don't know why, but this movie it's one of my favourites of all time. ❤️
Thumbs up who loves Pete Postlethwaite? So sad we lost him at such a young age. 😔
He was damn good as Sharpe's evil enemy.
Pete Postlethwaite - a truly great actor who never got the accolades he deserved.
Spielberg called him the best actor he ever worked with...
Incredible as Giuseppe Conlon in 'In the Name of the Father'!
@@Karma-qt4ji very memorable in anything I can find him acting in. May he rest in peace
Met Pete in a pub, a real gentle man, warm, friendly and very unpretentious.

An unique piece of acting, just by moving his head and his expression
Masterful
It still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. All I can say absolutely beautiful.

I am a miner's son and a former trombone player, albeit in a swing big band. This touched me in so many ways. Thanks for uploading!

I'm not crying. You are.
You’re not wrong
Oh yes
No you’re not…. You are.
Sometimes I'd like to give 10 thumbs up. Sometime there are pure jewel pieces of music. This is one of it.
Pete Postlewaite my favourite actor never seen him act badly in any films etc he has appeared in vastly underrated God bless you Pete

I first heard this about two weeks ago, and I’m totally hooked! Never considered Brass music, but this is fabulous, listen to it every day!
Nothing beat a miners brass band
Concierto de Aranjuez. Compositor Joaquín Rodrigo. Second act adagio.
My favorite scene of that great movie ! RIP Pete, I loved you so in that movie and in the Name of the Father !
There's acting...then there's been so in tune (no pun intended) with the story you're trying to tell. Regardless of film taste, musical taste, whatever taste, this is one of the most perfectly filmed scenes out there
There's more acting talent in that one room than the whole of Hollywood.
Still awesome in 2024❤
Absolutely stunning ... one of, if not the, favourite scene from a film... ever !
