that long note is over 30seconds long, what a blow!!! insane player, insane comedian, insane! Why hasn't this got more views. Though this is probly one of the only video's on youtube that correctly has 0 Dislikes. Well Done Shaun!
Somehow it picked up 14 dislikes in the 6 years since your post. Guess there are some people with no musical skills who go around disliking EVERYTHING!

Hi Bill. Do you are anymore pieces you can upload from this concert please. I played percussion for the band at this concert and would love to see more, can’t believe it’s be 20 years though. Amazing memories.
a very good solo performing on brass what an entertainer!!!! a band with a top conductor leading them beyond themselves to play more then the notes great ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ ♫♪ ♫♪great sound! ♫♪♫♪ ☺ ♥ ♫♪☺♫♪ great ♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO @bisbis 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Reminds me of the great Joe Venuti, a great practical joker. Once he called up every tuba player in the NYC directory and had them meet on the corner outside his apartment. Hundreds of confused tuba players were scratching their heads wondering where the gig was. It caused a severe road block. Mind you the local MU made him pay for their time! On another occasion at interval he put loads of flour down the tuba while the player was elsewhere. You can guess what happened.
Hi Wayne. I believe it to be the correct name of a traditional Swiss melody. Original arrangement of this version is by Elgar Howarth for Philip Jones. This transcription is by Sandy Smith. The full band version is not published, to the best of my knowledge. The quintet version is available on Just Brass ( I think). Glad you enjoyed it. Keep sharing. I would love to to the million views. Thanks.
@@shauncrowther4197 Bravo Shaun. I really appreciate your skill and artistry. Please don't let the negative comments get to you. There is a reason it's called "Trolling." I am actually trying to find an arrangement of this to download to my phone playlist. I am an ex-musician. I am also a disabled veteran. Music really speaks to me when my PTSD flares up. Your particular version brings me great joy in dark times. Thank you for the interpretation and for posting it for me to enjoy at home. Keep teaching your students that wit and wisdom. Blessings

Hilarious comedy, and superb playing combined!
I've heard many performances of the Czardas, and this is by far my favorite, I love the sound of the tuba, and this just...WHEW! Amazing
The Fabulous Shaun at his best!! Love it!!

I think that was circular breathing. Nobody could have that much air.
Fabulous fun. I have heard lots of tubists play Czardas, but to play it so spectacularly while "goofing around" - wow!
Beautiful
Absolutely Brilliant!

Wrong. It wasn’t in NYC; it was in L.A., and there certainly weren’t “Hundreds” of tuba players there-maybe 6 or 7.
Ronald Reuben l got this anecdote from a book by Bill Crow. The book has some very funny stories.
Sean he gets the sound by singing down the tuba easily do able on any brass instrument :)
Circular Breathing i believe
It goes WAY past just circular breathing!
muito bom fora de série
love it! Does anyone know how to do that cuckoo sound on a brass instrument?
+Sean Moran I do too....
you need to slur the note
You take a percussionist: give a cuckoowisthle and hide hide him in the back ;)
good! these guys have - learned - that good playing alone is not enough anymore. the - plebs - , like in Rome also want to be entertained!

Can someone tell me what arrangement the cuckoo is?
could someone post please, who composed the Cuckoo? Is that the actual name of the song?

This entertainment.
Is this the gig where Grimethorpe didn't get paid?
That's my understanding.
O som é muito bom.agora não sei se é atuba ou o músico que se empenhou mas na tuba de 15mil.
MUito bom
what is his name?
Shaun Crowther with the Grimethorpe UK Coal Band Conductor Gary Cutt.

It's bland comedy and poor music. Make it one or the other. I guess this easy-to-please crowd loved it.
You don't need to guess but merely to listen
I guess a great deal more people appreciate good humor, as this is, than you do.
