      Am I the only one noticing that western europe is increasingly losing out in a lot of fields? The war/inflation/high energy price clearly won't help the situation... The collapse was slow, has been steady, and will be quick...

    It's excited to see that China will finish their Tiangong space station in a couple of months and then Xuntian Survey Telescope 🔭 next year..

    This Chinese telescope will fly in tandem with CSS and dock when maintenance is required. Therefore, it should be easier to upgrade and repair than stand alone Roman telescope.

      There are already many Earth looking satellite that can see very fine details at near real time... you don't such a big telescope. Also, Earth is "too bright" for those large telescope and sensitive camera design to image faint light...

      Its much more likely the model is wrong than there is some uber power energy source that doesn't interact with anything or produce any know wave, light or radio…

    Soviets did a ton of scientific breakthroughs back in the days but achieved nothing in terms of recognition and positive perception on its technological capabilities. So even if China will discover all the mysteries of the world it wouldn't spread much across public in the west.

    China XUNTIAN space telescope totally designed in China with all of XUNTIAN space telescope components all made in China and much more importantly XUNTIAN space telescope all ensemble in China.XUNTIAN space telescope so much more powerful than the U.S engineers designed and made in the U.S components of Roman space telescope and schedule to launching at the dates of 2027.

    China has to learn that throwing large sums of money on every new technology and wanting to be the first to achieve it is actually not sustainable in the long term future.Embezzlement of funds will finally creep in and the whole program may fall off.The issues SMIC is having with chips should convey some sense to the Chinese government.

      China did not participate in any US led space program because the US refused to participate. China completed the space station through its own team experiment. How do you think American technology was stolen?
