This was the first socom game I've ever played online, and I don't know what people were complaining about! It had a kickass community and was far more responsive than any COD game could ever dream of being! Looking forward to H-hour
i loved this socom IMO i actually GOT into the games, got down, met new friends, formed a clan, and went hard on team objectives talking like a real squad, the MOST effort and hours i've put into a game, too bad the game is dieing down a little
Most of the bugs have been fixed. If you look at the date on this video, its almost a year old now. There have been a few patches, and another huge patch is coming out. I personally love this game, it has a few problems here and there, but not nearly enough to make you want to stop playing the game. They did say that one of the patches made the game worse (it did) but then they released another patch that fixed those problems. Overall, a very fun and enjoyable game, that i'm glad i bought.

Mike G. If a bunch of indy-developers got a special server for ToonTown up and running a few years ago, then it's possible for a group of indy-developers to get a private server for this game up, too.
I know. That is why I said "supposed". Still, they disapointed me before and apparently /6 is going to as well. Zipper had laid down a pretty decent game and you'd think a new developer would iron out the bugs, but it doesn't sound like it.
Then again. The game wasn't even as laggy with 1.4. So the review was only really accurate for the first few months it came out. Which would be up to March.
besides all the glitch and tech problems; this game deserves at least a 9.5 out of 10. trust me, when they fix all the problems, people will really see the potential of this game
The best part about this game is that it comes with the new sony headset. The headset alone will cost 49.99 so for an extra 10 bucks for the game, who freaking cares if the game sucks or not just go to your local game store and cop it..

I just think it's funny how everyone on Conf was saying how they couldn't wait for zipper's SC4 and now that SC4 is out, everyone hates it. I personally think SC4 is fun but it's the least 'socom' of the socoms.
Zipper has disapointed me in the last 2 Socom games. They were supposed to do this one properly to make up for SOCOM 4 and apparently they have not. I was going to buy a PS3, but since this was one of the games I was waiting for and it seems worse than CA, I think I will stick to PC gaming.
This is a awsome game...game play is one of the most realistic war game out there when it comes to warfare and shooting as welll as weapon recall...and multiple patches have been applied to fix the issues the guy went over .....GREAT GAME

I heard a little about that, but I honestly do not care. Zipper could barely make 32 players work, let alone support the game via updates. I cannot see how they can pull off 256 players. Would likely be delayed for ever.
This has actually become a better game with patches, unfourtunatly I did not have the game when it first came out because I heared of the problems, but now at least it is in a playabul place and has got trophies.
dude this game is so better now with patches they got 1.50 coming out they fixed most of the lags and stuff but lags not that much than it did before. now they got new weapons and 2 new factions dutch and Italy. the new weapons are sr 25 AK 74 50 cal sniper rifle.
if your saying socom confrontation is a smooth running game. Then you need to get out from under the rock your living under and try some finished games out. Socoms fame-rate is awful and shouldn't pass for a ps3 game. It still has lag and latency issues that most of there competitors have been able to fix. you wanna see a smooth game check out any of the COD franchise. not a fan but you won't see any frame-rate issues. because they have standards as a company. something slant six doesn't.
I actually loved Socom Confrontation... Socom 4 was horrible.. But I really enjoyed Confrontation.. I have poured more ours into that game than any other game Ive ever played.. Socom is one of my favorite game franchises of all time since it was team oriented and it separated itself from games like COD... I really wish they would revive the Franchise and make it good again... My favorite game of all time.. Confrontation was the shit.. I miss it..
coming from a guy who just bought this game earlier buy it for the headset because the game is $29 and if you buy the headset $49 together with the bundle $59 crazy the game is ok but not something i would recommend
i was at best buy the other day to get a headset, and was surprised to see the headset alone for $50, and the headset included in this game for $60 more. sure, this game isnt perfect, but its not bad for $10.

To their credit though, they are still working on it, which is honorable. However, it should not have been released as is, and it is not ok to release a half finished game to the public.

Listen people, and listen well- THE GAME HAS BEEN FIXED! The lag and server issues that plagued the game before are no longer apparent. all the issues mentioned in this review were just connection problems which are easy fixes. Personally, I would have said that IGN is an unreliable source for reviews and don't trust them, but these were real problems at the begining. They have be fixed however, and you play the game, problem free now.

When you go to a game shop and buy a game for $60 with your hard earned money, your expecting a game that you can play, even if its not good, it shouldnt have any bugs. When I first got Socom Confrontation, it would kick me out every game, my PS3 would freeze, there would be glitches everywhere, and so many other bad things. They kept releasing patches for the next year, but I moved on, look at Socom 4, no bugs on release.
I didn't really like Socom 4 that much. Confrontation was good for the way it played, and definitely for it player and immense weapon customization. Socom 4 just never grabbed me

@Lance03020 That part of what makes this review method of theirs unreliable. They add in factors such as network status and connection issue into play when those are issues easily fixed. They should have only touched on what gameplay they could get at the time and gave what WARNING about the lag problems. The only excuse they could give is that it was early in the new generation and console gaming was new to the whole "patching" fad that most games go by now, but they didn't.

make sure you buy the package that has the headset with it. Only one headset works for it
All of the games that say "Ranked" at the top of the list when you join a briefing room are ranked. Pretty simple, really.
Its been delayed in the UK to early 09 now hopefully to sort out issues.

No worries. I just wish someone could make these games like they should be. There has been a lot lacking in the last couple games.
The grenade thing is pressure sensitive so you have to squeeze hard. As for lag I have had none at all in the 27+ hours I have played it.

socom is older then ghost recon..... plus the popular ghost recon's GRAW and GRAW 2 are set in the future
