yeah, i always eating when i'm watching youtube and today i felt uncomfortable watching him suffer on the bike while i was eating my pancakes ....
My average heart rate was over 200 within 20 minutes..
I bought 20 pounds of BPN protein powder on Black Friday. Honestly it is one of the best protein powders I’ve had.
I got the fruity cereal and first time on flight and endo (any preworkout for that matter). Loving it!
This series is of such great quality. One would think that this was made for television (let's up that: NETFLIX!). Good luck in your journey Nick. We can tell that you're putting complete effort into your goals, and that is something positive and refreshing to see in the midst of such a tremulous year. Go one more!
When you think you train hard, then watch @NickBare... makes you realise "yeah you need to step up your shit!"
Thanks Nick!!! 👊 Great motivation for while I'm on prep for my first mens physique competition next year!💪

The production of this series is just insane
Like from 9:22 when he talks about swimming! That background music! Like when you watching a documentary on Netflix. I find it really motivating!

swimming tips from a D1 swimmer: focus on hand entry and extending your arm out in front about 2 inches below the surface and keep your elbow high in the catch. hold a steady kick throughout the race and focus on rotating through your hips from your core. also for the 500 consider uni-lateral breathing. it helps slow and maintain a lower heart rate, less fatigue to the muscles with more oxygen to the blood. learning a correct “open turn” will save a couple seconds in itself. touch with both hands and then drive one arm back with elbow bent at 90* under the water like you’re trying to elbow someone behind you while bringing the top arm up in a bent 90* out of the water and throwing your arm being your ear like your putting your cell phone up to your ear to call someone... “elbow your brother, call your mother” technique. with this focus on getting your knees tucked up underneath you to your chest as quick as possibly by engaging the core. then push off in streamline and rotate to your side and then your stomach. i’ve been following you for a little while now though and thoroughly impressed with your technique and how much it has improved it such little time!!! you’re so inspiring keep it up!
I leave for army basic training January 4th and you have been one of my role models for a while now! Keep up the great work!
Good luck half riiiiiiiii

Good Luck man. Keep your eye on the prize!
What mos are you. I’m currently in infantry OUST and graduated Jan 29
Bro best of luck. Bootcamp in my opinion is all about your attitude; be respectful, follow commands, pay attention, Learn, make friends, get disciplined, and have fun. I was in the Medical Field ARMY (91G) x 8 y.
I like how his coach is laughing and smiling when they did the test. She knows exactly what Nick is going through and knows Nick is getting better and better.

So true lol

FTP testing should be done in the aero bars on tri/TT bikes, not sitting up like a road bike, since you plan to be in the aero position as long as possible
I 💯 agree with this. But still great job Nick.
i love his coach. you can tell it means something to her.
I can't even imagine doing anything except sleeping for 10 hrs.

Somebody know why nobody in his workplace is wearing a mask lol? Is this a Texas thing? Or are we just not in the pandemic anymore? This is Nick's first vid I've clicked on in a while so maybe I'm missing something here??
When are we going to see Coach Greg vs Nick Bare head to head bike race??
YES!!!
You won't. Greg said he wasn't natty so Nick probably hates him...

Our endorcine sytem and CNS/ANS does not discriminate efforts above aerobic threshold/LT1/VT1... Sweet Spot is good to build muscular endurance / bike spesific strength endurance, especially with low cadence, but for stressors... not much different than doing short intervals very high effort at vot2max... Just a little facts check :)
Sub-10... That's a lot of work, especially for the swim and bike as weaknesses... and quite frankly a substantial weight cut. I'm sure coach has been pretty direct with this. Good luck, I'm sure you can do it.
Its all just hype talk. A couple months ago it was a sub 3 hour marathon. Not happening
Yea I agree with c whip.... when he said sub 3 I was like “ he is getting way ahead of himself “ you don’t just roll into your 2nd IM and call sub 10. Endurance improvements take time. No way around that.

Love the energy in the comments! I bought Hoka running shoes, Nick's supplements and am now training for my first marathon. GO ONE MORE everyone!
I have a suggestion for your breathing on your swimming. I would try 3 strokes per breath. When I was training to be a rescue swimmer in the Navy I was doing 1 stroke per breath, former rescue swimmers and Navy Seals recommend 3 strokes per breath. I felt the difference immediately. It was uncomfortable at first but it got easier over time. I would do 1 mile or even 1 1/2 mile swims sometimes and I wouldn’t feel too fatigued and my form was consistent throughout the swims. I don’t know how 3 strokes per breath would affect your Iron Man performance since I haven’t done one, but I would recommend talking to your coach about your breathing. Love the content keep it up the amazing work BPN! 🔥🔥🔥
The bike section reminded me of Rocky Vs Drago training... Keep up the good work huge inspiration!
If he wants to come under 10 hours he has to lose at least 20 pounds. 300 watt FTP at 90 KG is too low. I am 70 and also have 300 watts with a weight of 75 kg. But I've never got under 10 hours at an Ironman.
Your mind is weak
How tf do u train this many hours with seemingly no injuries

Nick if you can incorporate flip turns into your swimming you would cut off over a second for each 25
Equally importantly, a chance to get a glance of a time split. HUGELY important during any kind of swim TT to help regulate and then push yourself.

Why doesnt he have a fan on the trainer, takes away from his performance
It seems he made a choice not to have one. Pretty simple to understand.
he should just put the trainer outside, even better
I really want to know how many calories in and out he’s doing
I wanted to buy all my protein and preworkout from BPN but my cart wouldn’t load on Black Friday. 😕

Someone please teach him how to tumble turn! It pains me
Completely unnecessary for training for an open water Ironman swim
Mad props to your work ethic. Enjoy following. One word of caution and it makes me think of your sub 3hr marathon you thought you were gonna run. You don’t pick a number. Your training feedback will pick it for you. You get worked up over a certain number instead of just focusing on improvement over time. Sub 10 will come but you don’t just hop in your 2nd IM and say sub 10. You gotta earn your stripes first. just my .02
Good luck and I hope you get it
Nick your doing great on the bike! Work on keeping your upper body still. All the rocking back and forth wastes a lot of energy on the bike. The rocking back and forth can lead to a low back injury, ask me how I know. Peace
I get so much inspiration from Nick. I am not doing an Ironman, but when I am in pilates or barre I think... Nick would keep going, so I do. Thank you Nick!
I love these Black Friday videos! I still remember the first one when Poppa Bare used to fly.
Do they drug test for I.M.? Just curious
No if they did Nick would have to give it a miss
Ran a1/2 marathon this morning and now watching this 🙌🏼 winning
Cool, what was the time?
Have you thought about doing a 20 minute FTP test? I feel like that might help give you an better indication of your strength on the bike and overall endurance. Just a thought.
Did you watch the video?
Yes. And he average 293 watts for 30 minutes in that Zwift race on thanksgiving. Which doesn’t come out to a 303 FTP. Hence the reason I asked about a 20 minute FTP test
@@mojorourke21 ramp test is accurate watch some compare videos on YT, it's just less stressful
I’m just saying. If he’s running workouts based on a 303 FTP but he holds 293 for 30 minutes... that’s a pretty substantial difference when you start to look at 5+ hour rides.
@@mojorourke21 ahh yeah sorry I get you now. 100% true. I get a much higher ftp in ramp tests BC I'm better at 1-min intervals than sustained.

You can tell your coach really loves suffering and that’s the best coach you can have.
Wearing a hat keeps the heat in..., just saying...
When you're running it actually feels kind of nice to keep the heat in. I run with a beanie on most the time for my long runs and I enjoy it because towards the ends of my runs I get super cold because how much I sweat
Honestly seeing that I’m not the only one that has a difficult time in the pool makes me feel better.
Totally feel the opposite about swimming definitely feel the most comfortable in the water. started training for a half iron triathlon next year. Already solid at running (10 miles) and swimming (2 miles)been doing those for years. No idea about the bike never went more than 20 miles but been using a shit Mountain bike (which is heavy as hell ) all I have until I save up some money.
Crazy that guys on the TDF hit like 6.2-6.5watts per kilo just doesn’t make sense
I got tired from the first five second of this video. I just wanted to get back into my size four capri jeans not kill myself. The average top finished for this triathlon is 12 and half hours. That is insane!!! Okay, can I get an uber to the finish line.
4 watts/kilo is the beginning of becoming a competitive biker. Long way to go
Hmmm... maybe a bit more horizontal pivot, more extension on each stroke, attempt to make the body as long and relatively straight as possible without adding excessive muscle tension, slight s curve on the pull, bending the elbow a bit more mid stroke while carrying the stroke inward toward the midline of the body before extending the stroke to push the water back out near the adjacent arm hip. I think a catch up pull exercise with a paddle board might help.
Been a minute since I swam, but that's what comes to mind. If you can lengthen out your body and streamline, you take up more surface area in the water which can help you plane better/more efficiently through water. If you can do that while lengthening your pull for each stroke you'll catch more water, then bending more at the elbow mid stroke give you more leverage to reduce the amount of effort you need to push the water as your pull is closer to your body mid stroke, but watch to keep the direction of your hand facing near 90% to the horizon of the water as much as you can so you're maintaining your pull of the water to pull you forward as much as you can. You'll get some lift too, but it's common enough that not enough emphasis is on the feel of where a swimmer is pulling the water.
Sure you have 15 beats more because you have no ventilation. Your body is using the energy to sweat instead of pushing the watts. Install two fans, one each side of the bike and you will easy gain 20W for same heart rate.
Your progress on swimming is great but from my point of view you have to work on your swimming technique... see you swimming I can see how much energy you lose. There are a lot of exercises to improve your technique...
Respect the grind 😤
You prob won’t see this but when you swim don’t lift your head out of the water so much you should try to keep one goggle in and one goggle out but good stuff
Time to go public LT, billion valuation ez, shit Tesla is billion dollar company with a trillion dollar valuation LOL
Nick why not try doing tumble turns (flip turns)? It will make your swimming much easier 😬
Why are you concerned with Watts per kilo on a flat course? Power vs CDA is where you need to be focusing
His mom is going to be so proud of him.
Bruh 3.43w/kg 🤣. This dude has gotta drop his weight im at 5.8 w/kg rn and I’m not even at my best rn and at 68kg.
Yeah I agree, 90 kg is is extremely heavy for a sub 10 hr Ironman
Why do the ftp test sat bolt upright on the tops? You wont be cycling like this come race day and it's just going to inflate the ftp slightly due to better breathing.
