And I’ve been stuck like that for months through lockdown. I have absolutely no idea how people do these kinds of distances it seems insane to me
@@theewhaler I used to run 10ks back in middle school but then stopped for a few years and started again in lockdown. Since my last comment I actually ran a full marathon and it was probably the hardest thing I ever did, but it was definitely worth it. To be honest 4k in 20min is a very decent pace to me, however instead of paying too much attention to time, maybe just go for distance instead. That is exactly what I did at first. My runs used to be very slow and I often just resorted to walking more than actual running and there is no shame in that. For me it became more about getting comfortable with certain distances. I ran mostly 5ks at first and then did some 10ks. I knew I had mastered a distance that when starting a long run I had no doubt in my mind that I would complete it. When I go for a 15k run I know for a fact that I will manage it, no matter what. I don't think I have ever quit a run and turned back when I had a set goal. Also you wont always have days where you see improvements. I still have days where my pace is significantly slower than usual and I think that is completely fine, because it becomes a more sustainable habit. I can definitely relate to the feeling that these distances seem insane because I thought exactly the same until I realized that our perceived ''limits'' are far from what we are actually capable of. Another thing that helped me is to embrace the pain and approach a run with the mindset of: ''How would it feel if I ran this distance which most people wouldn't even dare to attempt?''
