Good Morning, Mr. Bare. I woke up late this morning, and thought, “Nick Bare is already on his run.” Thank you for you inspiration and teaching, I love being a hybrid athlete. P.S. I still got to see the sun rise on my warm up.
I have a 50K in October. I’ve never run an official race in my life. I’m 26 years old and I’ve been a climber for about 6 years. Climbed V10 boulder /5.13c lead. Then one day 2 months ago my A1 pulley tore and I couldn’t climb anymore so I thought I’d do something while i went through active recovery. I’ve never really taken running seriously before 2 months ago. My first day out I ran 4 miles. And the next time out I did a 10K and then 8 miles the next week. So between watching Goggins/Jocko and these running videos I ultimately decided to challenge myself with my first official race being an ultra. It’s going to be the Perpetua Coast 50K in Oregon. I’m honestly surprised how quickly I’ve been able to increase weekly mileage while still feeling solid with no tweaking anywhere from over exertion. Only 2 months in and I’m doing 35-40 miles a week with 10-16mile long runs at a 7’55 pace. I haven’t even thought about climbing anymore. My pulley could be fine but I’m too busy planning my run workouts 😂. Anyways all of that was just to say thanks man for the inspiration. Never would I have ever thought I’d enjoy running as much as I do now.
