So I don’t know if you read these comments but a quick tip if you are open to it on these long indoor trainer sessions try to handle your nutrition like you will on the road. Bottles in cages and one hand on the handlebars for gels. Just like you want to train your gut you want to practice this handling skill so it’s automatic on race day. 😀 Also with so many bottles of hydration you will want to think how you will handle that on race day because 10 bottles won’t fit on the bike.

Amy Stone, I was thinking the same thing. I’d look into a bike bladder w a hose. It’s similar to a camel pak but made for bikes so you can keep that same aero-dynamic posture while riding & keep 2 bottles in the frame & 2 bottles on back of seat as reserves. Minimal movements!

I barely consider a trainer cycling, and I am coming from the experience of racing competitively in the US and Netherlands back in the 80s. I never considered sitting on a trainer and doing intervals as a great substitute for hitting the road. Also, triathletes are notorious for poor bike handling skills...this was true in the 80s as well as today. That can only be learned on the road.

Have you considered aero positioning when you ride? It is great to have tons of power, but it can be hard to hit time goals if you loose too much to the wind. Holding a good position can be as beneficial as lots of power in am IM. Holding a good aero position takes practice to get the full benefit. In the under 6 hour range, aero is king.

@@mattoniy2840 well he swears up and down he's natty so that would be the "obvious" reason I guess lol.. He's no where near pro status nor age group qualifying so it doesn't matter much tho. But I agree its pretty difficult to even maintain muscle when doing endurance.. I only do 70.3's and its been pretty hard to retain muscle..

However, I find it really funny that he points out how he loves the “natural” ingredients in these gels when he’s constantly taking supplement upon supplement with not-so-natural components. But whatever floats your boat 🤷🏼‍♀️

I may be wrong but I am going to ask anyway. I notice you breath through your mouth. Are you a mouth breather or nose or both? Most endurance athletes do both. What do you believe is your percentage breakdown of breathing from your nose and mouth and when during your events do you do one or the other? The reason I ask is because I have been a mouth breather most of my life and trying to transition to pro dominantly nose breathing. Thanks
