Hei @Nick, I find your video soo good and they motivate me. Since I started viewing your videos, back in December 2020, I started in January the Hybrid Athlete and still going at it. It's been 2 months and feeling good both in the gym and in runnning. Already ran my first 12km this week. Keep it up and GO ONE MORE!

I was looking forward to this video all day didn't disappoint looking forward to seeing you finish the Ironman you are super motivating your work ethic is out of this world.
Looks like you are pretty upright and maybe saddle height too low? Looks like your shorting your pedals. Would be interested to see why you have the bike setup the way you do
Problem is that he’s probably not flexible enough to get more aero. Sitting this upright is a lot more comfortable than being super aero. Also has to to with injury prevention
@Matthew Carlin I was wondering if others noticed this too. His saddle seems so low and while he has powerful watts, he could get so much ore if he could extend his legs more.
Great video man, absolutely killing it, inspiring us all, just wondered I know you've got Ironman Texas and the Boston marathon, but just wondered if you'd consider doing a sprint triathlon at some point.
Hey. Awesome video it pretty much motivates for training. One thing I've spotted is your position on bike. looks like you would be to much hunched over. Also you leg i thing should be straight when u have a pedal down, just my opinion, but i really think that would help u to use all energy you use to move forward much more sufficient. Anyway keep on rocking !
Dang, explains exactly how I've been feeling trying to get back into running over the last year. Not enough sleep, working my ass off to build my business, working full time at a day job, volunteering at my church, and trying to maingain in the gym. So many stressors. So annoying.
You're such an inspiration! But I cannot see you driving 22 mph for 5 hrs with the saddle that low (no glutes are activated) and your body that high up (not to mention the head with helmet, sticking out). Check how Frodeno is riding, that 100 watts less drag.
Hey, just FYI, that Conti 5000TL tire is NOT COMPATIBLE with your ENVE SES wheels. It’s a hookless bead rim style, see reference to ENVE’s compatibility chart on its website. You could use either the Conti 5000 with a tube, or another tubeless tire like Schwalbe Pro One. www.enve.com/en/lp/tire-compatibility/
Upon closer review, I can’t say definitively that your rim isn’t compatible. I believe compatibility has improved in recent SES models, so it probably depends on the year of your wheel manufacture. Though, the way that the tire failed is consistent with my suggestion that the tire wasn’t compatible with the rim on your bike. Maybe go back and ask you LBS to look at the wheel details and make sure you have the right tires. Some of my friends with older SES wheels were disappointed they couldn’t use Conti 5000TLs, but perhaps you can. Just be safe!
Epic video as always! We've all been there getting caught short without the right tools on a ride! Aero position definitely needs looking at! Head firmly in the wind. No point looking for watt savings with silly oversized-derailleur-cages when you're losing a ton of watts with your body position. Keep up the hard work!
Bike set up to carry 3 bottles and special needs bag can replace those 3 during the ride. However, getting used to 8 bottles of special drink in training will not be feasible on race day with current bike setup and race logistics. To get 8 special bottles on race day, a double bottle holder behind seat would be necessary. This obviously will make bike heavier and less aero. With current bike setup, it may be better to train with 6 special bottles and 2 bottles of what will be available on the course.
@@wesleyjohnson1546 yes and not as controllable in the tt position than riding the hoods. with a bunch of people riding on the wheel doesnt give much time for corrections. if you space properly than yea, you can use a tt..but in a traditional group ride its discouraged for control purposes

Hats off to Nick for showing the video, but "big watts" won't help when you don't know how to ride in the TT position! Hoping in 8 weeks he can get some serious time outdoors with his bike.
Well his fit is awful, but he insists bc he had a professional bike fit its good.. but I get more aero (at 6'6") on my road bike in the drops... saddle appears low as well.. He's got a good run, so even with a 20 mph bike split he could still hit the 10 hour mark.. Whoever suggested the tube in a tubeless tire though was an idiot.. its the reason is ripped off at the end.. there's no way he got the bead seated again with a standard air pump
I think proper tt position os really hard to hold. So it is the compromise they found. Look at the difference between ironman athletes and pro cyclist TT position.
@@drym3943 it takes getting used to.. I have a really aggressive tt position pretty big drop from saddle to aerobars - flat back... and I can comfortably stay I'm aero.. Hey Nick, you’re seat position looks low to me. Coupled with a high aero bar position you are sitting very high into the wind. I recommend getting a professional bike fit. You should also focus on stretching to get into a better aero position. I recommend raising the seat, bring it forward some and lowering that front end. A good bike fit will get you there but also taking into account your ability to stretch
Elbows out with a huge stack is basically creating a huge surface area for air to hit you and hold instead of flowing over and around. If you’re mainly training inside you should at the very least include one aero positioning session, ideally more when possible to become accustom to holding an area position. If you can’t get to a professional to bike fitter then making small and regular tweaks in front of a mirror or setup a camera to record yourself then make adjustments. You’ll become more efficient by using less energy to combat the wind with a reduced frontal area and the higher watts you produce will convert to increased speed for less effort.
