I think the concept of “Going to the Dark Side” is merely Jedi dogma. Qimir learned that harnessing anger and fear and desire can be a viable path to wielding The Force and that it’s not as binary as Jedi or Sith. We also see that with Sol - Sol just believes that he must be purely altruistic because he doesn’t channel his emotions to fuel his use of The Force. Other than that, his obsession to train a Padawan is not that different than Qimir’s desire to train an Acolyte. Sol’s obsession probably had more negative repercussions than Qimir’s machinations.
The show would've been much better if it was reworked to center around Sol and Qimir instead of the twins. The Senator should've also been introduced much earlier as a source of looming tension.
People keep asking why Bazil is disabling the ship. He isn't. He's stopping Sol from firing on Mae and possibly killing her because Sol is acting out of anger here, he isn't thinking rationally.
I see Sol as a proto version of the kinda dogma that creates the rigidity we see in Obi-Wan and Mace Windu. And Vanestra using him as a scapegoat makes perfect sense
The best thing about the series is that it's over, and now fans can't stop bitching about it. I liked the show. I appreciate any exercise that expands the lore. It's wasn't a great show, but it still managed to keep me entertained. Just like the Kenobi show, this story could have been better as a two and a half hour film. But alas, it is what it is. If there is a second season, I'm confident the creative team will take the criticism to improve the execution. In the end, it's a matter of execution. The pieces are there, but the mayor flaw was the execution in building the show. But as always, the worst thing is the whiny fans.
I agree Osha was maybe a bit too casual with Qimir on the undisclosed planet, but to be fair. She wasn't really friends with those people for years, and held a lot of hatred towards them and probably associated them with what she could never have, and what her entire family basically died for. It makes sense for them both to put aside their difference to get to Brendok. Qimir even says they'll see who gets to her first.
She's known Yord since childhood, but I don't think it matters. I believe what we see is her half-heartedly fighting being seduced by the dark. She's taking in everything Qimir tells her because she was always more suited to that approach to the force. He validates her and tells her she's special, something the Jedi never did.
@@AllGreyEverything well, yes and no, she knew Yord when they were younglings, and he was basically a stranger again when they reunited years later and he didn't hesitate to throw her in jail.
@@AllGreyEverything I think it’s interesting that Osha wanted to leave and go with the Jedi partially because she wouldn’t be alone and be with other kids like her, but in the end she really wanted to be special, which is what her mother had been telling her the whole damn time.
It does male me curious though, as she turned it red sorta during activation, was this becuase the saber was damaged? One did lightsabers get more durable since we see other lightsber fall farther and harder with no damage, and two does that slight damage change how bleeding crystals work? Cause she was mad but no were near as angry as anakin or as powerful why didn't his crystal bleed and turn Red during order 66 or against kenobi
@@edwardmccoy490 I think it was just she ignited it before it was fully bled, so it continued bleeding and showed us how it works, however I did see a difference in how the blade looked afterwards so maybe it damaged the crystal and not the Saber. Most sabers are made of stronger materials, but enough blunt damage can still hurt them.
@Dire_Pack so I get that Disney is just going to keep changing what ever isn't in live action. But I was under the impression you had to specifically focus your hate anger and pain through the crystal, in comics vader goes through alot to bleed his, in jedi survivor we see dagen pull his crystal out to focus on it and bleed it. This just seam more like she just accidently bled the crystal without trying. Again I say that same thing would have happend with anakin during his turn the only difference between the two is the lighrsaber was slightly damaged
They literally were they had whole scenes showing this. The only people who defend this show are the ones who didn't pay attention and didn't see all the BS lmao
I had a realization when Sol was talking to Mae on the table that episode 7 was not narrated to Mae. This episode was literally taking place directly after the end of episode 6. Episodes 3 and 7 were set apart from the rest of the series, despite them containing all of the background information, and were placed so awkwardly that they created an even bigger narrative problem.
Yeah I think ep 7 was kind of meant to be Sol telling his story to Mae, but that wasn't it at all. They just randomly put in two halves of the flashbacks at different points.
Yup... that is my biggest beef with the series - directorial and editing mistakes. Some of the dialogues were cheesy but I have had that in Star Wars and other franchises and I still got behind it, so it wasn't the big of a deal to me, but I can see why it stood out to others. All that said, I freaking enjoyed the show. And I am down for a season 2
Plagious just chilling, I assume he’s weakened atm so he’s gonna absorb the clones (the sisters) to regain his power, and get the idea for making anakin by advancing the work done by the coven. I mean in his novel his entire character takes past knowledge and evolves it, so it makes sense he got the idea of how to make anakin from SOMETHING else, considering prior it’s been canon he just “kinda knew how” to phrase it
It's not the first time we heard "Hell" in Star Wars. A rebel soldier said to Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back: "Your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker!" To which Han replied, "Then I'll see you in Hell!"
I’m just saying the Rule of Two makes better sense when it’s two lovers fighting over a shared loss and hatred. Wish Disney would actually explore that idea. Two sith you’re actually on the side of because you understand why they became sith. Having a story where a couple loses their child from the actions of the Jedi. And the Jedi cover it up and frame the couple. That could be a good sith story.
i think im gonna resend my old theor i feel like qimir is the apprenctice and left to go look for his own not knowing his master has been watching [ EDIT I THINK HE WAS VENESTRAS PADWAN BUT CAME TO PLAGUS THE WISE FOR INFO ON THE DARK SIDE BUT THREW HIM AWAY ALSO JUST TO FOLLOW HIM IN CASE
Same I only liked 3 out of the 8 episodes, 5, 6, and 8, but I'd still like an S2, because despite its flaws the show still brought things from legends to canon.
@@loftyguy11 with a whole new writing team and showrunner yes this show could be palatable. Would be interesting to see more Quimir and Plaguis if done better
@@Dire_Pack star wars fans should really start demanding better than just celebrating that a show wasn't atrocious lol like yeah it;s cool to see Legends stuff but surely you'd rather it incorporated into an actually well-written show with a strong narrative?
There is ZERO launching points. A season 2 just legitimizes all the illogical nonsense that has happened in this season. This was an amateurish show with poor concepts and execution.
IF there is a season 2, I really hope that Plageuis is not being portrayed as the strangers master, instead, I hope he just realised that there is some force sensitive dude that claims to be dark side / sith, follows him to know what´s up and to annihilate him in the end for being a pretender
@@UlyssesBearclaw In theory I agree, yet, I hate unfinished stories. And there are so many unanswered questions and storylines / plots. Especially since they just introduced Plageuis into that show, with 2 potential dark siders / hobby Siths running around
@@DocktorPepper95 Then we should be patient til there are more competent writers to handle such a nuanced story. The Acolyte writers obviously aren't it.
This is why I love watching these reactions. I'm not an expert. I have no idea of the characters until they are introduced and just watch the show for what it is. Daft escapism. When I see anyone taking anything about it all so seriously with regard to "lore" cracks me up. I'm so glad I can just watch, enjoy, and not be disappointed. Just love these reactions. Michael, is it. Never seems to enjoy himself very much. 😂😂😂
I’m not saying the show doesn’t have flaws but personally I’ve loved the show. I know I’ll probably get comments saying to “cope harder” and stuff like that for saying this.
I'm happy you found some enjoyment with it, but if Lesley and Kathleen Kennedy are heading this up in the future. I'm not even going to waste my time with it.
Check the spin season 2 will bring. Qimir is Plagueis Apprentice, he's the one who killed Plagueis in his sleep. Qimir is actually the one who trained palpatine. Remember, in Revenge of the Sith, Papls tells Anakin his "mentor" taught him everything about the force, he never said Plagueis taught him. 😮😢
I agree. Whenever I bring it up, someone tells me Palpatine literally SAYS he was Plaguis’s apprentice. That’s it’s cannon. And I can’t say I ever know what they’re talking about. For whatever reason everyone believes it’s the case. I never ever understood it that way & think there’s plenty of leeway to make new stories.
I think Plagueis's inclusion kind of makes sense. Qimir is probably his mind-wiped puppet (if Qimir could wipe Mae's memory, then so could he). I recall Qimir saying he is seeking/wants the power of two. Plagueis might want to study and replicate it so he can create the chosen one.
That's a cool power, if can mind wipe anyone and instill new programming one has endless supply of soldiers to throw at any enemy or quest.. it's like million clones but with sith powers... The Jedi would crumble thru attrition.
Plagueis is manipulating qimir to get to the twins. so he can experiment at using the midichlorians to keep himself alive. I think venestra is more involved than just being qimir’s teacher.
@@emilysaul4002that does makes sense if he was alive 🤦🏽tho ugh why didn’t they just say 40 or 50 years before phantom menace could have saved so much crap Lesley but she has done this herself
This series should've been about Qimir and Plagueis...since the 1st episode! Showing him in the cave for a quick second doesn't count!!! The bonus "dooped y'all" moment was revealing Yoda at the very end!!! Stupid writing, stupid series. This series makes Ahsoka and Book of Boba Fett look like Mandalorian season 2 level. 😂
People are so weird about this show, it’s very confusing to me why it’s being use to push weird rhetoric. I think this show was fun and enjoyable. All I can hope for is more new Star Wars content. And if people don’t like it they need to learn how to move on.
The only time bleeding a Kyber crystal red has ever been done right was in the Darth Vader canon comics. After Vader kills a Jedi without a weapon he’s then told by Emperor Palpatine that her has to take it to a place that is strong in the dark side of the force, Mustafar. He takes it deep into a cave and after he extracts the crystal from the saber he then channels all of his fear, anger and hatred into the crystal. He sees his memories of him and Padme and Obi-Wan and even a possible future of him turning against the emperor, tracking down Obi-Wan and kneels before him awaiting his judgment. Vader fights back against that vision and after an enormous amount of effort manages to bleed the crystal red. And sadly in both Jedi: Survivor and now The Acolyte, neither come even close to that incredibly powerful moment.
I don’t get it, I’m not a fan of disneys Star Wars movies or shows except for rogue one and kenobi, but this show was definitely my favorite show from Disney and I think it’s a good show with cool concepts, awesome fight scenes, good lore, mystery in the fact that I don’t look at all the theory’s about the show while I watch so I wasn’t predicting everything like others may have. I’m usually totally on board with people about how bad new Star Wars is but I can’t get behind saying this show was bad

Not a dig at Coy, but The Acolyte ride without Michael Tessler wouldn't have been the same. Thank you Michael for co-hosting with Greg. Hope to see you again for future SW contents.

I thought the choreography and technical effects stuff was phenomenal. I love the heavy handed matrix wash. It was spooky and grim. It seems as though all of these new gen shows of the Starwars lore, are testing grounds to find these potential gems. Like growing crystals in a lab. The audience wants to see a movie or a show with all those matured elements (gems) in all their glory. If there was a way to combine all the best, tried tested true, elements all came together in one series. Then, wow !!!!!!!!! Supernova Starwars revival for the fans!!!!!!
I thought it might've been easy because it was consensual, but I do see your point. A Jedi would probably be able to fight that sort of intrusion or even do what Indara did to the witches.
Overall it was a pretty good show. I really don’t give a damn about Mae, and I still blame her for the fire and everything that happened, because she was too selfish to let Osha make her own choices. I believe Sol acted in self defense. Qimir and Osha are an interesting duo. I’m curious to see where the sith lineage goes from here because I’m pretty sure that was Plaeguis in the cave, and he then teaches Palpatine after he’s born. Maybe Qimir and Osha try to overthrow him and he kills them both? I’d love to see that Edit edit: new canon is that Qimir tells Plaeguis about the force divergence, and that’s how he learns to create life, which he then passes on to Palpatine. I know “Palpatine created anakin using the force” is only in the script for episode 3 but it’s canon for me, and this is a great lead up for that

@@dygz Only the Disney shills/bots will defend garbage 🤣🤣🤣
Coming in season 2, baby! 😝
I didn't see the wire stuff as The Matrix and more Crouching Tiger. Same stunt team tho.. soooo.
I’m with you. People keep saying how he killed all her friends. They weren’t friends. Timeframe is maybe a week. Tops. They’re legit strangers to her.
Only the Disney shills/bots will defend garbage 🤣🤣🤣
I love when Osha bleeds sol kybercrystal to turn it to red
Yord and jecki were not OSHA’s friends
How is everyone missing this they were old friends but not current as shes been gone for a while. She has jedi teachings but is not one.
Only the Disney shills/bots will defend garbage 🤣🤣🤣
Yup... that is my biggest beef with the series - directorial and editing mistakes.
Some of the dialogues were cheesy but I have had that in Star Wars and other franchises and I still got behind it, so it wasn't the big of a deal to me, but I can see why it stood out to others.
All that said, I freaking enjoyed the show. And I am down for a season 2
I mean… the idea is to keep us lost until we see those episodes, so pacing them as they did makes sense to me
That’s why it should’ve been episode four or the very beginning with a two episode premiere
Plagious just chilling, I assume he’s weakened atm so he’s gonna absorb the clones (the sisters) to regain his power, and get the idea for making anakin by advancing the work done by the coven. I mean in his novel his entire character takes past knowledge and evolves it, so it makes sense he got the idea of how to make anakin from SOMETHING else, considering prior it’s been canon he just “kinda knew how” to phrase it
I loved the silence when yoda shows up 🤣
It's not the first time we heard "Hell" in Star Wars. A rebel soldier said to Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back: "Your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker!" To which Han replied, "Then I'll see you in Hell!"
Jedi believe in the force. Han and Mae are not Jedi. Boom solved the case
I was under the impression that Plagueis was there to kill the Stranger
That episode was sick

Can someone kindly explain to me how this and house of the dragon have the same production budget?
"Make it a book."
Seriously. This thing needed SEVERAL more passes to be even remotely good. A pinch of good ideas executed poorly.
I’m more intrigued by this 4th path that is neither Jedi nor Sith nor Witch.

There shouldn't be a season 2.

Survivor is more bearable to watch (even tho the visual of it changing colors as the saber is on is kinda cool to look at)
41:18 Leslie Headland was just budget cutting the entire season for her own salary I bet. "$1,000 for you. $1,000,000 for me" and so on.

The fight scene with osha and Mae had better choreography than matrix resurrections ngl 😭😭
Bro could’ve used that mind wipe power on all of his opponents…
I thought it might've been easy because it was consensual, but I do see your point. A Jedi would probably be able to fight that sort of intrusion or even do what Indara did to the witches.
I don't think you can use that on someone who has the force and actively fights it.
Don't think that's how it works, it's the same as a mind trick kinda... You need weak minded individuals or personal consent for it to work.
It only worked because she actively let him and didn’t try to fight back against his mind wipe. She effectively helped him do it.

BAZIL KNOWS.
I’d love to see that
Edit edit: new canon is that Qimir tells Plaeguis about the force divergence, and that’s how he learns to create life, which he then passes on to Palpatine. I know “Palpatine created anakin using the force” is only in the script for episode 3 but it’s canon for me, and this is a great lead up for that
