Big brother in Chinese culture doesn't mean actual brother, it just refers he is older than her or is being respectful .
most asian culture calld anyone non blood related with uncle, auntie, grandpa, grandma , sister , bro . seldomly call random people with names or gender , bcoz they are random people, hence calld them by how we familiarize .
Most asian culture dont just calld som1 YOU THEY THEM HE HIM WHO HOW US . hehehe

Guys..... If you pay attention to the opening of the movie, there are telltale signs of who each of the hidden Kung Fu Masters are. The Opening credits start with a Butterfly which symbolizes the main character played by Stephen Chow. The first time you see the Coolie, he's Kicking the bag of feed onto his shoulders. The first time you see Donut the Baker, he's rolling out the Congee with his staffs. The first time they reveal the Tailor, all his rings are featured prominently around him. The first shot of the Landlord, he's drinking Fluid, and the Landlady starts her scene by Screaming. And the last reveal of the Beast, he's in seclusion surrounded by Frogs.... On second watch, the reveals and hidden tells are Genius

To be clear, Stephen Chow is legendary in Chinese cinema as an amazing action comedian. He spoofs a bunch of martial arts and martial arts adjacent genres and in his own way he was as popular as Jackie Chan was in Asia. I highly suggest checking out his other movies besides just Shaolin Soccer. God of Gamblers and Journey to the West are amazing comedies. None of his stuff is really meant to be taken seriously and he leans way into the absurd. And much like Jackie Chan, he had a group of people he always worked with who always starred in his movies.

I mean Calvin and Aaron. These jackasses release 1 episode of Naruto per week and even that's filler, for 8 weeks straight before the Pain arc. Abysmal.

I don't think there is a term for it, but I love movies that both satirize/parody a genre while simultaneously elevating and excelling at it. This, Hot Fuzz, Cabin in the Woods, and some others really fit it perfectly. .

Rather Stephen Chow pays homage to all his inspiration from classic hong kong movies. he also added a lot of western references for international audiences. He didn't mock or make fun of any of them, so its not a parody. Instead, he made every superpower looked cool, classy and mighty. And others he made the reference appropriately, not without reason.

For your information actually the star of this movie most of them is martial artist that work with bruce lee and jackie chan, legend in china and hong kong cinema, they are not comedy actor that just play the role, they know how to perform martial arts. Even Stephen Chow actually know kung fu. The director and producer of this movie is among the most famous Hong Kong star along side with celeb like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Chow Yun Fat, and Donnie Yen. If you take his movie seriously, you will not enjoyed it. He is legend of hong kong comedy, people love his movie all the time and more important his partner late ng man tat is the best best.

What happened here? I would lose my mind if I was Eric. Love the guys but Calvin and Aaron were so weird. We all know Calvin is the "Well actually🤓☝" guy who doesnt understand fiction and comedy but Aaron too!? This is such a masterpiece and I have never seen anyone react to this so weirdly. I was so happy looking at the title but oh well. Guess Shaolin Soccer is no longer an option as its not exactly how soccer works...

its a disastrous reaction. so no shaolin soccer for them (and us) please. If they cannot accept fiction and comedy after the first 10 minutes in, nor do they enjoy it, they don't need to watch and react to a COMEDY and sound like they are forced to watch it the whole time.

It's a comedy action movie, the movie doesn't take itself seriously and it's not meant to be. The movie has surely been watched as kids all over Asia born in 2004 or earlier. Being annoyed for it not being realistic is like watching Fast and Furious and looking for physics.

I've seen some people who immediately understood how heartfelt and deeply moving the silliness of this movie is. Then there are people like the ones in this video to whom silliness is always light and empty. Maybe because they can't conceive a thing with meaning and weight not making its qualities immediately apparent.
Kungfu Hustle is a masterpiece about martial arts film history and its themes facing modernization. Its also about the relationship between HongKong, mainland China, and Hollywood(Western) influences and its effect on ideals and self-identity. Its a beautiful and thoughtful film wearing accessible clothes of lighthearted comedy.
Stephan Chow didn't do well as a producer in Hollywood because he wasn't allowed enough control over his projects.

This movie isn’t supposed to be serious. It’s clearly a spoof! Turn your damn brain off every once in a while and you’ll be surprised just how much more you’re able to enjoy movies like this. Put Calvin’s preconception about this movie aside, what’s great about this movie is that Stephen Chow manages to embody many legendary kung-fu styles through CGI and invited several senior martial-art movie actors not only to showcase action scenes, but present the comedic side of the story, which is an unprecedented idea to the whole world.

Calvin not having seen the original Dragon Ball kept asking Eric how did he have any hope for Dragon Ball live action, but this is the 'goofy-ness' of the early Dragon Ball, so it checks out that Eric was excited to see this kind of goofy-ness in that movie as well.

Don't put Kung Fu hustle and fking Dragon Ball evolution in the same sentence. It WASN'T produced by the same person. Why would you say something completely false like that.
King Fu hustle was produced by Stephen Chow. A well respected Hong Kong film maker.
While Dragon Ball evolution was produced by James Wong. An American director. Completely different people.
