Absolutely loved footage and Photos Roger…. I saw that mobile fence and thought well such a fence must be popular for a few days I saw a video by Mike Lane with a similar fence… Silly me🤪 it was the same fence Mike used since you are the Roger he mentioned in his video 😊 So therefore I have to write you the same as I wrote Mike… Pardon me ROGER it’s not the most elegant way of talking to an elegant older gentleman but: FREAKING AWESOME FOOTAGE & PHOTOS Roger👌👌👌 Hey Chaps love your RUclips videos👍 more that please 🙏
Thanks Peter, for the very kind comment. Mike and I have been friends for many years, and he is an amazing bird photographer. It was seeing his pictures early on in my photography journey that inspired me to improve.
I have also a bird feeder in the allotment garden since a month and even a jay come to it. I hope there come sometimes starlings. I think in autum and winter there will come more birds😊
Autumn and winter will be best for birds coming to feeders. At the moment, things will go a bit quiet because they will soon be starting their moult. Come the colder weather, when there is less food about, you should get lots of birds coming in. Hope you get some Starlings. Good luck.
Thanks for commenting Jill. Bird paste is : 1 cheap sliced supermarket loaf, 375gms melted Lard, (one and a half blocks) , approx 1pt boiling water , and some bird seed. Put the end crusts of the loaf into a kenwood chef mixing bowl, and pour the boiling water on. Leave to saok for a few minutes. Melt lard in a bowl in microwave. Put rest of the loaf in bowl and pour the metled lard on top. Fit beat and mix well until it leaves the side of the mixing bowl, and then add some bird seed. Then roll up into balls, and keep in fridge. It should last in a fridge for about a week.
Such dramatic images Roger, and great tips too. Regarding your point about choosing between video and stills, I have my OM-1 function switch set to flip between stills and video. I find this is really handy if I'm shooting stills and suddenly think it would be a good video sequence. It's just a second to switch between the two settings so maybe you could give it a try.
Hi Stephen, Good tip about the OM1 function switch. I saw Rob Trek show the use of thos in one of his videos and its very useful. I set mine for this a while ago. Its very handy. Thanks for the kind comment about the video.
Dear Roger, i love your videos very much, and my photography has got much better with your tips. I only use a Sony a290 with a 300mm lens so as you probably have guessed its not the best for the photography i want to do ( birds ) but with your incredible videos and tips i have got way better, great video Roger. Have a good rest of your day!❤️😁
Wonderful video, Roger, as always. 5:03 - correct me if I'm wrong but such a top shelf camera as OM-1 no doubt has the ability to record in something like 8K - why not have the best of both worlds and simply record videos in 8K, and extract stills from them afterwards, whenever needed? Even frames from my crappy 4K videos look reasonably OK.
Thanks for the kind comment. The OM1 does not shoot video at 8K. It does at 4K, and the results of taking a still from a 4K video can be very good. Some of the other `pro cameras ` do shoot video at 8K. The Sony A1 does. To be honest, I dont think my computer could cope with 8K videos. It would probaly fall over with the shock ! ( it`s quite old, like me ! ) 😂

Hola:me gusta mucho tu trabajo y vomo lo expones, puedes decirme como haces la pasta casera.saludos Pedro
Gracias por el amable comentario. La receta de la pasta para pájaros está en la descripción.
I stopped using bread as the major ingredient of bird food (but not lard), because of online advice, and used mainly oats instead.
I think bread is O.k providing you mix fat and bird seed with it. The birds certainly seem to like it.
