  • This special 1-hour workout is specifically designed with safe exercises for those with Parkinson's disease. We'll be utilizing a chair for seated exercises, as well as using it as a support for our standing movements. For those with Parkinson's, the muscles can easily get tight, so it's important to keep the body mobile. For that reason, we'll include spinal and hip/leg mobility exercises. We'll also work on balance and leg strength because of their importance for stabilizing the body when walking and moving around. Many of the movements will also help to improve core stability and strength, as well as body alignment and posture.
In addition to a chair, we'll use a set light weights (1 to 3 pounds; or water bottles/cans of soup as substitutes) and a small squishy exercise ball (or a small pillow as a substitute). I'll offer modifications for exercises so you can personalize the routine for you.
Thank you to my mother-in-law, Jane, for helping me create and execute this routine! She was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease herself, and is an inspiring example of strength and resilience as she navigates this disease.
For those interested in the workout program we mentioned at the end of this video, it is called Rock Steady Boxing and it is specifically for those with Parkinson's. For more information or to find a program near you, visit rocksteadyboxi....

Thanks so much, Cathy! I really enjoyed filming this class with Jane, and I hope it can reach and help a lot of people suffering with Parkinson’s.

Just founded you on RUclips, Cailin. Subscribed. Performed this video. Will repeat to do it better. I also have PD. Weak on balance.

Hi Cailin! My dad has Parkinson's and this is great. Really really appreciate this! Could you please consider doing a 30-min Parkinson's workout? He is still working and trying to remain professionally active, so something that he could fit into his still busy schedule would be amazing. I'm sure there's lots of people with Parkinson's in a similar situation :)

Hi! I'm glad you found this for your dad, and I'm happy it's helpful :) I completely understand the need for a shorter workout... it's difficult to get that full hour in sometimes. I would definitely like to create a shorter Parkinson's class for this reason, so stay tuned! Thank you for your input and feedback :)
