I couldn't agree more. Hopefully the new generation grows a new appreciation for real, quality and genuine music. All I seem to be hearing these days is autotune to the max. Sure, some of them are enjoyable as happy tunes, but I do miss the real deal. It's not that there is a lack of real music out there, but sadly it's a minority in the charts.
I was there. 1978. Electric! It was indescribable! The stage, the lights, the music, the harmonies, it was soooooooooooo amazing. Everyone was up and dancing! I loved every second of it. It was a junior in high school. One of the best days of my life!❤❤❤❤❤
Never saw them live but did experience their energy transported to the street! Walking down a Southern California street when a car stopped at the red light intersection with “You Should Be Dancing” pouring out…and all of a sudden everyone on all street corners was dancing! And everyone, I mean everyone was dancing and smiling!! Such joy - everywhere, all around us. All ages…most amazing thing I ever saw… with The Bee Gees you couldn’t help it…you were moving and you were smiling!! So, soo happy you felt it too! 😊
I was at this concert at dodger stadium. Good god did I have a blast.... was in love with berry... lol I was 17 years old in the prime of disco... good times.....
That's likely skin grafts on Barry's chest. When he was about 18 months old he pulled down a hot pot of tea onto himself and nearly died from his burns. His mother Barbara said he didn't speak until he was three, because of the trauma. Now he is a star. Barry was only nine years old. His twin brothers Maurice and Robin only six ,started out on a musical journey and became stars.Beloved by so many. They are fantastic.RIP twins and Andy who also had a great musical journey of his own.
This was the beginning of Andy being the 4th Bee Gee. Unfortunately fate had other plans! I'm so sad for Barry!!!! You need to listen to their song, Alone!! Very touching!
I was there! It was a stadium for the San Diego performance. I was waaaaay to young to have gone, but my friends were a few years older. If my mom only knew the depths of my crush on Barry, I'd still be locked in my room.
@@sheayankee It was everything it appears to be, with the energy and excitement off the charts. I think I only sat down three times all night. The arena was huge and the stage was toward the middle. All night long one of them was facing the seats behind and to the sides. I was young, but could feel their generosity of playing to the entire audience.
@@L0C0vision Loco, that sounds like you had an outrageously super cool time. It's nice to know that performers we like are respectful towards their audience. Thanks for the reply. :)
The one in the middle was Robin, and he died his hair red like his Irish Setter dog, lol!! Looks great!! Yup, Andy was a great singer too and had a very successful solo career!! It was only 1979, so Barry was only 33 here which means Andy was only 21, and the twins were only 30! Hugely famous and successful at this time!! Probably Alan Kendall on guitar???
This was during their Spirits Having Flown tour. Andy came to visit them in Houston (per Maurice), & joined them on stage for this song only (the finale). The tour schedule shows Houston was June 30, 1979. Note-edited to correct date.
I saw them on this tour in Houston in 1979. It was exactly like you see here! So many screaming women, lol! Barry has burn scars on one side of his chest and they tend to look shiny under the lights, but actually they are de-pigmented. What you are seeing are white patches of scar tissue. He probably was a little sweaty on top of it, too. I think this was filmed at the Oakland Colliseum in California. In Houston they played the Summit and John Travolta came out for this song. Travolta was in town filming Urban Cowboy at the time. It was a wonderful concert! The band was Alan Kendall on lead guitar, Blue Weaver on keysboards, and Dennis Bryon on drums. The horn section is a collection of studio artists known as the Bonneroo horns. I think there were a couple of other guitarists and keyboardist hired for the tour that were not a regular part of their recording and touring band.
They are/were the real deal. SO much talent!!!!!!! They started singing when Barry was a teenager and the twins look pre-teen! Andy was just about to become the 4th Bee Gee when he passed away! When Barry was a small child, he was burned on his chest very badly and it left horrible scars. His mother said he almost died .... Thank Heaven he didn't!!! I was always glad he was comfortable with an open shirt!!!
Barry Gib was accidentally burned on his chest with I think scalding water when he was18 mmonths old if I remember correctly. don't know if Barry was sweating that night, or if the light was picking up the scaring he has said he has on his chest. Bands back in the day, started out live and then got record deals. They were expected to be able to perform live just as wel as their recordings. The same is true of musical theater performers doing 8 performances a week. That said, the BEE Gees were pretty amazing.
His mother said she had just made a pot of tea and he somehow managed to spill it. He was in the hospital for awhile and did not speak for a long time. An then he had this amazing singing voice!
Love seeing the younger generation find the Bee Gees! They were pure gold! I am 10 years younger than Andy but always listened to them on Bandstand and Midnight special even when so young. Still love them every bit today! Keep dancing!
Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet but the reason why Barry's chest looks so shiny is because when he was a kid, he sustained serious burns on his chest. I think it was a pot of hot water that he grabbed from the stove or maybe it just slipped & fell on him, i don't remember the exact details. The event traumatized him so badly that he didn't speak for 2 years. Can you imagine? Awful... Then to recover and go from utter silence to eventually having that singing voice. Wow!
They ended most of their concerts with this song. This performance was in the summer in Texas. Barry was definitely the sex symbol during this time period. I saw them perform in September 1979, fifth row. It was awesome, best concert ever. Enough energy to light up Manhattan. They came with their own stage and had their own plane traveling during this concert tour. Enjoy the journey of discovering more of their music. Check out “He’s a Liar”, great video. Thanks
Barry had oil on his chest because as a baby, he almost died from burns. There’s a place on his chest, where he is not able to grow hair. So he oils up, instead.
I'll be honest, I don't subscribe to very many reactors because so many of them are fake or ridiculous, but I'm SOOOOO enjoying your reactions. This is the music of my youth and it makes me so happy to see a young person not only discovering it, but genuinely appreciating it for all the reasons we who know the music appreciate it. Same with Queen (best band of all time) and Simon and Garfunkel. I spent a lot of today listening to their music, thanks to you. 🙂
Same here. I wasn't at the one where Andy was on stage, but saw the Spirits Having Flown tour in northeast Ohio in September 1979. BEST CONCERT EVER!!!
Alan Kendall lead elec guitar, blu Weaver keyboards, drums Dennis Byron. They had a different group back in London in the 60’s. That is a scar on Barry’s chest. He almost died when he was a toddler. He pulled a boiling pot of tea down all over him. He almost died, the Drs told his mom he was a couple hours away from death. He didn’t talk for 2 years afterwards ( his mom said). The scars are mainly on his chest and upper right arm. He plays the guitar with his right hand, but he is left handed!
Barry had no oil on his chest, the shining comes from his scarred chest. At the age of 16 months he poured a teapot of hot tea over his whole chest and almost died of it, 6 months in the hospital and then he did not speak for almost 2 years. They always said, they were no dancers and they didn`like dancing, although Barry can move his hips so well and sexy. Maurice and B also playarry live ALWAYS guitar (Mo also piano), so you can hardly make dance choreos!!!
Love your energy!!!!!! My kids used to make fun of me for dancing in my seat while I was driving when their songs would come on the radio!!!! I will not lie, I still do it :)
I skipped school to see them that summer..77- amazing performers Harmonies, vibes We danced our buns off..The opening act was the village People! Talk about a party!!! good times .
The Bee Gees were child musical prodigies in the late-1950s and early-1960s. By the time they performed this song from the "Saturday Night Fever" Soundtrack Album, The Bee Gees were in their 20th year together as a group. They were seasoned veterans, and knew how to put on a good concert performance. Prior to their 1967 debut on the American music scene, they made some TV performances in Australia. One of them that I recommend for you to react to, is their 1963 cover of the Bob Dylan song, "Blowin' In The Wind". It is available for viewing here on RUclips.
NEVER got to see them live, but loved all their music. RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin. You need to check out their tv concert, Onr Night Live. This video 1979 was disco and open shirts were in.
I absolutely am loving your reaction to this song, the all-around good feelings you are getting and passing along to me and everyone else! Your joy is contagious! Thank you for letting me sit in with you again today!
I was very lucky I got to see them at 2 times. The first time was this concert 💕💕and the second time was at the One Night Only at MGM in Las Vegas. 💕Best concert EVER. It is sad to know that we'll will never see them perform live again 😪
The one in the middle is Robin. He had an operatic voice. His falsetto on "Living Together" is in the stratosphere. And Maurice sang the highest notes on "Nights on Broadway". They were all insanely talented.
Loved your reaction...as well as your appreciation for the Bee Gees. I've seen this video where it just shows clips of this live performance interacted with clips from the Saturday Night Fever....which in itself is awesome. But I've never seen this live performance play out in full. As this is one of my favorite songs by the Bee Gees, thank you so much for reacting to this particular video. It was amazing. (enjoyed your dancing as well!)
Pure God given talent! No auto tune crap! As well as instrumentals! Bee Gees were the best! Like my boy Elvis! Gotta check out Elvis Presley and Never Been to Spain Live. The instrumentals are INSANE Also, Barry Gibb and Barbara Streisand duet Guilty. So beautiful
They were that good!! I love them!! Beautiful voices great song. So good to see someone that appreciates the Bee Gees the same as I do. I think they tried a couple of times to try to learn to dance, their music just made you want to dance. I would have loved to have ben there with you, I was a great dancer in my day. Great reaction!!
Hell to the yeah, MMB -- any one of those Gibb boys could hit any of those notes any day of the week... My particular love is Robin.. but they are all awesome! Thanks!
They wrote it, arranged it, performed it, Maurice on bass, Barry on rhythm guitar and were beautiful- it was ok they didn’t dance - Oakland Coliseum 1979 - 44 states, all stadiums, all sold out. Alan Kendall on electric guitar. React to this - Barry had all that and his wife and son were right there 👍🏻 They are a special group 🤩 ruclips.net/video/3TspkJx-DwA/видео.html
Robin was doing pretty good there with his rhythm, usually his beat is totally off. I always v wonder how someone who makes such amazing dance music has no sense of rhythm when he moves. Still love him though, I can't dance either! I really miss all the brothers that have left us.
This is what it used to be back in the day, the live sounds like a record something that you really find today. And there was no auto tune at this time either.
Best live concert footage ever! Yes, you must check out Mr Andy Gibb. Every bit as talented as his brothers, Andy wrote too, sev songs on his debut, Flowing Rivers. Great live performer. Andy can be seen on The Midnight Special, Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, hosting Solid Gold, guesting on many shows--everbody wanted him on their show because he could sing any genre with anyone--many clips of the sweet, charismatic Andy--my fave duets are I Can't Help It, a #12 hit with Olivia Newton John, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue with Crystal Gayle, & Happy Man with Marie Osmond
Great reaction!!! Love your enthusiasm. If you haven't already, check out the Bee Gees playing live, "Nights on Broadway" on the "Midnight Special" show.. Maurice does the falsettos in that one, and he's really good. They ALL can hit those falsettos, which is part of the reason why their harmonies are absolutely incredible.
Loved your reaction. I wish I had seen them in concert and I was a teenager at the time! How did I miss that? However my first concert was Andy Gibb. Incredible experience!
No Autotune Love.. we were so lucky, pure talent, yes, they not only performed but wrote most of the hits from the 60's & 70's dance. Love to watch you love this....
I always loved this footage. I liked seeing Andy with his brothers. They are all incredible. My sister was lucky enough to see them in concert. You have to listen to Andy solo as well. The women went just as crazy for him.
Thanks for your fun reaction! That's not oil on Barry's chest, though. Those are the scars from the burns he got as a toddler. Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Andy was kind of Barry's mini me, about half a foot shorter and 12 years younger but they were the only lefties of the family. However, his voice was nowhere near as broad in range or as strong as Barry's. As producer Alby Galuten said in the book "Tales of the brothers Gibb "Andy's falsetto was nowhere near Barry's." Andy had a lower, huskier, sound to his voice and his range was not as big as Barry's. I personally always thought his voice was much better suited to songs of his first album, Flowing Rivers. Andy died of myocarditis - which is an inflammation of the heart - on March 10, 1988, 5 days after his 30th birthday. His heart had been weakened by his drug addiction over the years which, by the way, was also the main reason for his split from Victoria Principal. He also had a congenital heart problem that was later also discovered in Barry and Barry's second son Ashley. Try listening to the song Dreamin' on ruclips.net/video/-KdBVKcSSSw/видео.html which is kind of a duet with Barry. And finally a few photos of Barry and Andy: i.postimg.cc/jS6n3Jkv/Barry-Andy.jpg and i.postimg.cc/TwnPh8M0/82c126fc42a35d3b737867af41338199.jpg and the 4 brothers with their mother i.postimg.cc/FRNMbwkD/b9b2561eadffee11347573c97063c2f8-zpsd89478eb.jpg
Great reaction! Their live music is always amazing. They give so much. Later concert, Medley 1989 is outstanding. In Australia. Songs from 60s and 70s. Barry was badly burnt as a toddler. Hair won't grow there.

Poor Robin, my love. No rhythm at all but the voice of an angel and a sabre wit!
Check out Andy Gibb Shadow Dancing.
Simply the best ever
Can you imagine if Andy had been able to go on tour with all of his brothers? It would have been fabulous!!!!
Now this is music.I am so happy you are enjoying it.Awesome reaction .Keep jiving
They came to conquor and conquor they did that!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good reaction 👍
It is so great to see Andy joining his brothers just so sad though that he passed so young!
One amazing performance by four amazing brothers! Continue to RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin. 🙏
Loved your reaction. I wish I had seen them in concert and I was a teenager at the time! How did I miss that? However my first concert was Andy Gibb. Incredible experience!
Great commentary!
So much talent. I can't wait until you hear Robin sing I started a joke.
BRING BACK DISCO, PLEASE.
No Autotune Love.. we were so lucky, pure talent, yes, they not only performed but wrote most of the hits from the 60's & 70's dance. Love to watch you love this....
prob my fave bee gees song ❤ wish i could’ve seen them live, too ! 🙌🏾
Loved it!
Hello, Bee Gees were so awesome back in the day n now, even though only one living is Barry. Take care and stay safe from Pasadena, Texas.
Barry said that Andy was his twin even though Andy was the baby ❤
Great reaction! Their live music is always amazing. They give so much. Later concert, Medley 1989 is outstanding. In Australia. Songs from 60s and 70s. Barry was badly burnt as a toddler. Hair won't grow there.
