    One of the few videos with all four brothers singing from left to right: Maurice, Andy, Robin, then Barry. The movie soundtrack from Saturday Night Fever was the top selling soundtrack for years, and might still be. The Bee Gees were writing songs for a new album in Europe when they were asked to write some dance music for a movie. They said “no, we are busy but we have a few we are looking to put on our next album, so they sent 5 or six songs. They didn’t think anything about it until they learned the soundtrack was selling record amounts. I believe they had 5 or 6 hits from this album at the same time on the Billboard charts.

I was born in 1962 so I was a teenager when this was going on! In my honest opinion, the movie Saturday Night Fever would have been a flop had it not been for the Bee Gees and their amazing music!! Love their songs!!! Am so grateful I was alive during that time to witness this as it was happening. So happy to see all these reactions to the music we enjoyed back in the 70s!! Best years for music and to grow up in!! Love your reactions!! :-)

      You should be dancing hit #1 in 1976 BEFORE the movie Saturday Night Fever was ever made. But they did include it and Jive Talking (which also hit #1 in 1975) in the movie Soundtrack 👍🏾

    "You Should be Dancing" was from the movie soundtrack of "Saturday Night Fever" - It made John Travolta a film star. During the 70's when the Bee Gees were on a hot streak of songwriting, their music played everywhere you went. 1 out of 7 households owned the "Saturday Night Fever" album. I was a self-professed "dancing fool" during this time, Farrah-hair, rayon/polyester dress, mood ring - But WHAT a time to be alive when the Bee Gees were the Number One group! And Barry Gibb? Absolutely gorgeous - This man had it all - In fact, I still have my "Barry-in-Black" 1979 poster!

    Was it a hit? It was HUGE man! I know, I was 8 when this came out and I remember it VERY well, it got a lot of radio play. Glad the younger generation thinks that just because it's "old" it's not worthless and as an "old" guy it's nice to see this music is appreciated. In a world of sampling, fully digital tracks, no musicality, and people who can't really play an instrument or sing without an autotune keep looking back to the classics. Not classic to ME but trust me, in about 20-30 years, who will be remembered in the current charts? 1, 2, 3 at most. Remember Mozart? Still played and he died in 1791!

  • @hongfang2508

    This is considered their first disco hit. You Should be Dancing went to #1 on Billboard's top 100. The man sharing mic with Maurice is younger brother Andy Gibb. He had a solo career but joined his older bros on stage for this song

    • @HepauDK
      @HepauDK 3 года назад +1

      Most of the songs from Andys solo career were written by his brothers. So even though it was a solo career, the music was still pretty much Bee Gees. :)
      But then again, the brothers Gibb made a heck of a lot of music for other performers as well, from Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton (Islands in the Stream) to Dionne Warwick (Heartbreaker, one of my absolute favorite 80's songs).

They had sold the floor to a Hollywood museum and it was being picked up the next day. That club was packed that night and that floor is not as big as it looks in the movie. 7 of the songs on the soundtrack were written and performed by Bee Gees.
      8 if you include Tavares' version of "More than a Woman". ;)

    I really like this one myself this is my favorite video of this song because in case you haven't noticed there was a fourth beegie there. There has been a few times when they had concerts where they had their brother Andy singing with them. It's really nice when they have him because then they have this beautiful four-part Harmony which sounds like one person singing versus the three part harmony that they normally have.
