Back in the day most of these appearances on tv shows were lip syncing. If you listen closely to the background vocals, that is his brothers singing backup. No mistaking Barry’s voice
Today, people lip synch because many of them can't sing without studio tricks and digital fixes. Back then, artists lip-synched on TV because technology of the time made if very difficult to pick up and mix good sound from the studio and trasmit over the airwaves into your tiny, tinny TV speaker and make it sound decent.
The Bee Gees often used recorded tracks of the background instrumentals and sang over them live for TV shows /radio-- It was too much to bring the large number of musicians -- too costly, or impractical. At least, you would have their real voices for the performances. OR they would sing unplugged, or better yet, sing a capella with their gorgeous harmonies and solo voices!!

Andy was the baby brother, 12 years separating him from Barry, the oldest Gibb, and 9 years from the twins Robin and Maurice., so, yes, he was too young and needed his solo career with his own band and his 3 # 1s in a row on the Billboard Hott100. He was supposed to join the Bee Gees in 1988 at the age of 30, but he died from an inflamed heart due to his drug and alcohol addiction. Yes. Also, Barry helped Andy’s success. Barry sang back up on Andy’s first album. What a great big bro Barry has been. Sadly, Barry is now the last BG. All of his brothers have passed away.

Andy Gibb was the youngest. He was 2 years older than me so he hit the next teen beat generation. Unfortunately, his misuse of drugs and alcohol weakened his heart. He died when he was only 30! His brothers were shell shocked by his death. For me, it's hard to believe that was more than half my lifetime ago. Time flies BP. You're fast becoming my favorite reactor.

He was clean of drugs, but began drinking after becoming severely depressed at Robin's due to writers block. The youngest of the Gibb brothers, he died in 1988 (aged 30) of myocarditis. It's so sad to realize that with twins Maurice & Robin gone, Barry is the only one of the brothers still with us. HIs older sister Lesley Evans, fortunately, is still alive. "I Just Want to be Your Everything" in 1977 was another hit of Andy Gibb's.
At that time doing "live" tv most artist where required to lip sink as they didn't want anyone to add lib anything that couldn't be aired for one, plus they didn't want to spend the money for all the sound engineering you need for a true live performance. They wanted the audience to here it just like the the radio version or that 45 single they just bought. You had to be a highly established artist that could refuse to lip sink but still get the booking. A lot of labels also had final say in you contract. Some artist hated it so bad they would barely try so the label would be forced into either letting them actually sing or they would quit making them do the TV stuff.

“I Just Wanna be Your Everything”(1977) was my favorite Andy Gibb song. I had his poster on my wall as a teen in NYC. Had the biggest teen crush 😂 It was #1 on Billboard back then. So sad passed away at 30 yrs young. He had a lot of issues including drugs. Some romanticized his death saying he died of a broken heart. He and a famous tv star had a very public breakup. RIP❤
"Forever Young." Weird how that effect of the calendar works. They stand still when they exit but we keep moving. I lost a college friend when he was 23. That was back in the 90s and holy cow does 23 seem soooooo young now. An obscenely brief time to be here.
Barry, Maurice and Robin wrote this with 2 other # 1 beegees songs in 1 afternoon. Also the beegees did his backgrounds. There is one concert of all 4 Gibbs brothers in concert. Andy was going to join them. He died while they were writing the album. He had a baritone while Barry had a alternate baritone. He sang with Mairice while Barry and Robin sang together during that concert. Barry produced all of Andy's albums.
The Gibbs also have an older sister her name is Leslie she used to sing. But she retired to have kids and raise her family. It’s just her and Barry remaining. And the brothers did all the background singing on all his songs. Barry wrote them.
Andy was the baby brother of the Brothers Gibb (aka BeeGees!)! Super talented but unfortunately got mixed up in drugs which affected his entire life. I was a teenager totally in love with Andy. Still love his music despite we lost him so many years ago.
It's actually 5 children Their sister can sing too but she didn't wanna be in the group. The father was a drummer I think In England. All the children were talented
Awesome you doing Andy the youngest of the Gibbs. It came out in 1978. Thank you 🙏🏻❤️ Congratulations on 250 thousand 👏🏼 💙🎉🎉 Australia puts out some great talent. He also recorded Everlasting love for his girlfriend Victoria Prince able(star of Dallas) Andy did do a collaboration with his brothers. No, WRONG, he died from myocarditis!!! And he never did a collaboration with his brothers. Where the hell did you all get this false information from? There are several documentaries and hundreds of interviews from the Bee Gees, please do your research before writing nonsense!

RIP❤
Love Andy and all the Bee Gee's❤
Andy was born in 5 March 1958 and I was born in March of 1959 but Andy will always be viewed by me as 30 and younger while I am now 65.
"Forever Young."
Weird how that effect of the calendar works. They stand still when they exit but we keep moving. I lost a college friend when he was 23. That was back in the 90s and holy cow does 23 seem soooooo young now. An obscenely brief time to be here.
I had the biggest crush on him back in the day. God Bless Andy, RIP Sweetheart ❤
Andy wasn't a Bee Gee, but he was the youngest Gibb brother and I had a huge crush on him at the tween age of 12 lol. 😍 Love your reactions ❤
This makes me miss the years of clubs,😊😉 and disco dancing the night away...
The Gibbs also have an older sister her name is Leslie she used to sing. But she retired to have kids and raise her family. It’s just her and Barry remaining. And the brothers did all the background singing on all his songs. Barry wrote them.
BIG poster of Andy Gibb on the wall above my bed (in his red leather) as a pre-teen. LOVED Andy! 😂💞👏🙌😎
2 girls! You are blessed!
Oh man, I had such a crush on Andy. He was a huge teen heartthrob. Another one who died way to young.
Great reaction!
Andy was the baby brother of the Brothers Gibb (aka BeeGees!)! Super talented but unfortunately got mixed up in drugs which affected his entire life. I was a teenager totally in love with Andy. Still love his music despite we lost him so many years ago.
Yep he was my teen idol. Had his poster on my wall. Yep i m old. Rip andy.
Andy was supposed to join the brothers just before he passed away. How cool would the four of them been together..
It's actually 5 children Their sister can sing too but she didn't wanna be in the group. The father was a drummer I think In England. All the children were talented
Andy was another musician gone too soon. Its amazing the whole family was talented.
Andy can hit those falsetto notes as well, but yeah, his brothers helped him out on this sing as background vocalists.
He died from an overdose.😢
Victoria Principal
No, WRONG, he died from myocarditis!!! And he never did a collaboration with his brothers. Where the hell did you all get this false information from? There are several documentaries and hundreds of interviews from the Bee Gees, please do your research before writing nonsense!
He didn't die of an overdose but from myocarditis.
Most of those music variety shows were lipsynced. If you have seen Bohemian Rhapsody there is a scene when the band is pissed that they are lipsyncing and playing cardboard drums. There is actually a video of a live performance where he is performing with his brothers
Check Andy out, he had some jams, Our Love, Don't Throw It All Away, I Just Want To Be Your Everything, Everlasting Love .... RIP Andy Gibb
All great songs & written by big bro Barry!🎶
