- The M11 Titan cycle is one of my favorite creature cycles in Magic and it just came to Arena for the first time. Is it possible to build a Historic Brawl deck that takes advantage of all five of the Titans? Is Tiamat sneakily the best Giant tribal commander? Let's find out!

It's funny having the God Dragon Tiamat as Commander because in D&D lore, especially Forgotten Realms, Dragons are the archenemies of the Giant race.
The land destruction matchup was so incredibly funny. The past is catching up
Part of me suspects that the guy playing that deck was playing all the extra spells just to show off to Seth, like "Hey! I'm running your deck!"
you know that dude was having the time of his life just ripping apart seth's first few turns
Today arena boomers teach Seth how his videos affect the meta XD
Seth: "I can use a wrath."
Me: Thank goodness he can wipe everything out with Farewell.
*Casts Supreme Verdict
🤬🤬🤬
Just wanted to note, with full control you can use Capenna fetches (like Brokers Hideout) which don't enter tapped with Chromatic Lantern to tap it for mana before it auto sacrifices. This has worked well for me using fetches while still playing spells on otherwise dead turns without losing life.
I stg if I have to hear Seth say Argon (an element) instead of Aragorn (the actual name) I will go crazy. It’s like Seth only knows how to pronounce the first time any letter shows up, and just dropped the second A and R because it was too complex 😭
Argon and Boronmir
Was driving me INSANE! (as chemical specialty and LOTR fan)
He pronounces so many things wrong I don’t understand what’s happening in his brain when he reads things lol
Argon is the black version of Aragorn
I was watching on a phone and was so confused when he was playing against "Argon". I thought it might be an alchemy card, but it was just Seth being Seth.
didn't realize that Aragon's creature type was Noble Gas lol
You mean Aura-gone, aka disenchant
Underrated comment. 😂
Explosions & Fire (Extractions & Ire) would be proud.
Quite surprised you didn’t put realmbreaker in there too, it’s just like the World tree, and it can ramp you too
This is why I love Maskwood Nexus and do stupid crap with it all the time! I use it in several decks and it is a must remove or you lose kinda card almost always
11:33 Seth "I wish we had an untapped land"
Seth 10 seconds earlier *plays blood crypt tapped*
It entered from Primeval Titan. If you shock in Blood Crypt when a card says the lands enter tapped, it will still enter tapped.
seth finally seeing the consequences to his actions by playing against his own land destruction deck
cyclone summoner only triggers from hand, else it'd be pretty busted for flickering effects :D
As the janky wizards player of the group, I came here to say just that. It's rough not being a named character.
Ouphe.
Zoomer teaching Seth about Land Destruction! :D
My King, My Brother, my AWRAGON
The Niv mizzet land destruction deck tho. Now that was poetic lol
You should also have Realmbreaker in there its easier to get off than the world tree
Lmao damn you shouldve added the person that played that Niv deck afterwards just outta respect for being a fan lmao props to him!
Argon, leader of men, best star wars character, and my favorite noble gas - never change Seth
I'm surprised they haven't errata'd frost titan to say ward 2
Technically that would change the functionality of the card. So probably why. Because some things do care if you have the text ward on your cards.
@@sawyermifsud852I mean, they put surveil on many old cards BECAUSE there are newer cards that care about the mechanic
Mark Rosewater (head designer) in his Q&A Blogatog once answered the following:
Why hasn't Diffusion Sliver and Frost Titan received Ward 2? It almost literally is identical wording to what Ward does.
He said: Keywords have to be exact. Almost isn’t good enough.
=
One supposedly famous example of this is Loxodon Warhammer. Back then, if you had two of them equipped, each would trigger to gain you life when the creature dealt damage. But now, because it just gives lifelink, this no longer works.
It is true there are counter examples, but I am unaware of any counterarguments he gave regarding those.
Seeing you paired against your own land destruction deck was so funny !
World Tree bringing all the giants with Nexus is a OVER9000 combo.
13:58 Cyclone Summoner does nothing if you bring it out via The World Tree.
Argon? Can't wait for the rest of the Periodic Table in a secret lair.
I too, would like that
Early morning MTG, didn't expect to come back to a Seth, probably better known as SaffronOlive, posting a video. Thanks, and keep it up! 💜
Seth builds, plays, streams, uploads and seems to have fun playing a deck. People build the deck and play it, seth: surprised pikachu meme 😂
I'll be honest, I'm not your opponent in any of these matches, but I built your Land Destruction deck before I finished watching that video. I did cut the soft land destruction for more sweepers though :)
Amazing historic brawl content WITH against the odds! Thank you so much!
Funny thing about the Giants is that they are generically playable without a set deck direction whereas, like you said, many cards of their age are either unplayable or only playable in corner cases (which then theyre broken)
#FrostTitan2023
Maybe a Realmbreaker for World Tree number 2 that also ramps and can be found by your artifact tutors?
Seth when his opponent is playing his own Land destruction deck "Well Well Well if it isn't the consequences of my own Actions"
19:25 is when you played the deck so you can't even be mad that it's going off against you.
Seth: "Aragon."
Nazgûl on Seth's way out: "Eh-ruh-gorn."
I've previously had a Maskwood/Tree combo deck in historic, but didn't think to revisit it with Primeval Titan making two thirds of the combo that much easier (getting the Tree out, and ramping to 10 mana + Tree) - might have to play around with it some more now that its on MTGA (though you have to wonder if it's better than Primeval Gates).
Man, Seth's first match against Oregon was crazy.
At first, I thought that the First Sliver would be the best Giant Tribal card cuz you can cascade into the smaller cards, but there aren't any good smaller cards to go into this deck other than ramp and Maskwood Nexus, so this makes more sense
I've been having a lot of luck in Historic with the old Zendikar Rising era mono red burn, but a lot of juicy cards have been added since. monetary swift spear, if I had the wildcards, soulscar mage, and ive got boneceushee and a 1 of call in a professional to target myself and get through the one ring with my creatures
I just wished all cards would come to arena. I would love to start playing modern on there. Just seeing you play Prime Time makes me want to play Amulet
I love Aragorn! Crator lake, Mount Hood, and beer in Portland? Its great!
Aragorn. Not Aragon. Jeez, probably one of the most famous fictional characters of all time.
There's no duo more iconic than SaffronOlive and the inability to pronounce card names properly.
And it's only the LOTR cards. He has no problems with the others so I'm starting to think he's doing it on purpose...
Who?
Literally never heard of Aragorn until this set came out.
It's absolutely not just LoTR cards.
i have a kenrith version of this in paper its very funny to just slam your deck of giants into play with the world tree and maskwood combo
Just listening to the deck tech made me smile because it's classic Saffron Olive jank in the best possible way.
I love Seth changing the LOTR lore. Forget Aragorn......meet Argon, King of the Elemental Table 🤣🤣
Jesus that Nazgûl game was rough I couldn’t help myself and chuckled at how absurd it was
Just gotta say I love the Jank. sometimes it's just about having fun and these jank decks look like a blast.
I got to say the land destruction match up was well deserved. Ever since you played the Saltiest mono-white deck ever, I come across it like 1-2 times every day or 2 and I hate that match up, but refuse to scoop to it
this deck might be cool with rukarumel, master biologist as the commander. it’s pretty much maskwood nexus in the command zone, the idea would be cast her, say that all creatures are gods, cast primeval titan, use world tree, tutor all the creatures.
Seth out here trolling us w these names at this point
Now try it with the mana creep that is LL of the Guildpact + Shrine to Nyx
21:34 Seth having an Oppenheimer moment
I’m sure Kenrith is naturally better for commander for any tribe that doesn’t have a commander.
The new Ogre Chitterlord from WOE is basically a new Titan. 6/5 menace that makes 2 rats on ETB or attack, and pumps them to 3/1s. Would be fun to see a standard deck around it 🤔
Seth accidentally replicating the plot of my D&D campaign with a Magic deck. lol
Seth watched the LOTR trilogy to actually be able to read the names and then purged it all from his memory to start saying "awragone"
I think for the gimmick of WUBRG giants, another solid commander is Golos, Tireless Pilgrim, though that hardly comes as any shock. His etb fetches one half of your big end-game combo a turn faster than hard-casting a top-decked Primeval, comes out relatively early and while he lacks the explosive 5-giant tutor of Tiamat, does provide a solid and stable gameplan in giving you some chances to topdeck giants, Maskwood Nexus or just some simple utilities like removal or ramp. He also skirts around the issue of mana-colors somewhat, because by the time he fetches World Tree, it's effect to fix mana is already live. I can understand wanting to build around something else though. Again, it's no surprise that Golos can do stupid shit and is just kind of the boring answer to the question.
Idea: add two of the common new capenna fetches. Grab them with prime time (they fetch even though they enter tapped) and then sun titan can target them for extra ramp
Oh baby Historic Brawl! Let’s Go!!
I have also run into the Niv-Mizzet land destruction deck and absolutely blamed Seth when I did
I love Tiamat, and I love this titan cycle. So, yes.
While she doesn't have any direct Giant synergy I like the idea of using Beluna Grandsquall as my commander for Giants. There are some great Adventure Giants and she reduces their cost while also fitting really nice into the curve as a Trampler. I think the idea of dumping a Qaukebringer into the graveyard with Seek Thrills would be sweet too.
Wow, a cool and original Tiamat deck in Arena? Unbelievable!
"it doesnt feel as good if its your lands getting blown up" XD who would have thunk ...
Seth, the way you say Aragorn is physically painful
Gameplay starts at 4:11
Obsessed w this deck
I was hoping wilds of Eldraine had a 4-5 color giants commander but this is satisfying to me at least
I really hate the idea every creature type needs a 5c commander
You know you should try this Slivers. Maxwood would look make Sliver dragons, world trees would look for slivers and slivers would effect all creatures on the field.
23:32 won’t farewell be better here cuz you can also get rid of the one ring, which left the opponent with nothing but lands. The sea gate restoration would draw some cards but now with the lands you have you have a better chance of winning
Yep, he even admitted as such the very next turn when he played the farewell
I wonder if AI could redub Seth's audio with the correct pronunciations.
Olive, i am going to scream, it is Air-uh-gorn
Argon decks are fun to play. Suck to play against.
Missed opportunity to call the deck "Standby for Titanfall"
Breakfast with SaffronOlive? Sounds good
One does not simply walk into Oregon.
You can take Highway 101 though.
"Arigon"
Oh I build the LD deck you played. 1 uncommon wild card needed
Aragorn! There is a R is the name lol. Kinda like Acorn but Aragorn. You can do it Seth lol.
Aragon is popular because its new, its a good card with fun mechanic, and its a titular LotR character. Without any part it wouldn't have done as well.
Trying this with Slivers, first game was a landslide lol
Deck should have Karn as backup to get Nexus back from Exile since the whole deck is built around Nexus.
If you pull off the maskwood nexus/world tree combo with Giants, specifically... is that not literally Ragnarok? That's some good flavor.
AragoRn
Gorn
With an R
Literally everytime you said his name it was like getting hit with a dumb stick in the face
Oh god a second one!
I hope the person playing land destruction realized immediately. I played the deck and oh man would have loved to been them.
As someone whose main EDH deck is headed....Five Headed by Tiamat I approve of this deck...however I do not approve of running five colors and using Guardian Idol instead of Ornithopter of Paradise.
"I am disappointed in dig up, every time we cast it we are just going for a land" That is why Dig up is super under appreciated, in the early game it assures your land drops and in the late game it can be used to get something relevant.
25:39
Is there any reason to regrowth back the Mythos instead of just taking the Despark which also kills Aragorn?
You could run Isshin to double all the attack triggers
Wendigoon is popping off rn.
I think you should have played some Changelings to grab when you didn’t have Maskwood Nexus
He could also use the background that makes tiamat a 10/10 and a giant lol
All you need is primeval. Then use the world tree to get all your dragons
Miirym with terror. That's gg
yes they are. 2011 titan era was the best era of magic. wolf run ramp, sphinxs rev, blinking thragtusk.... take me back
Aragorn is a pretty fun card. Mantis riders go!
Reaper King is my fav. card to pair with Maskwood Nexus. BLOW EVERYTHING UP.
I remember when the giants first released and the terror of prime time dominated standard and modern
AragoRn there's an extra R in there
Is arcane Adaption in the deck, because it gives a little bit redundancy
Could you come up with a decktech for this for commander? You get more maskwood nexus effects and better tutors but I'm not sure how else to make the deck more efficient for edh
Seth sowing vs. Seth reaping
Jodah: "Am I a joke to you?"
Ah yes, Oregon the unifier
When it loses, it's a titan-ic tragedy.
Wouldn't cosmic bridge work better than going throu those shenanigans oc changeing subtypes?
Stumbling across this video after 2 months I see people in ranked playing your decks all the bloody time XD. The teaching arena zoomers about paying the one? Gods it's all I see in Plat/Diamond
