This deck should be called "Joy Ride" because its like when kids steal a car, drive crazy, and then crash it before leaving it behind. You're taking their big bombs for a joy ride and smashing it.
I would honestly call it red black control. Needs some land destruction and artefact/wnchantment removal to work imho, but it seems like a reasonable mid power archetype.
Dammit Seth. Three games into playing Arena today and I immediately spot that someone is playing a clone of this deck. Locked out my game by knowing what they were up to, but not being able to play my creatures that buff my creature lands killed me.

My standard rule of thumb is that I should have at least one basic land for each color of mana I'm playing. That way, Field of Ruin and similar effects cannot colorscrew me. Ideally, I'd have one basic land for the maximum number of pips of any particular color among my cards. For example, if the hardest thing I have to cast is 2WW, then I'd have at least two plains in the deck. This is a bit harder with 3+ colors, though, so it's generally only a rule for 2 color decks.
Another in a long line of thanks to Seth for putting these decklists together including very relevant sideboards. Everyone IS playing the best creatures, immediately on the most aggressive curve they can - in a format that basically does have mana leak too! I've been wanting to brew this, but didn't want to find all the cards especially the sideboard slots. Bless you Seth!
When I started to play Magic, the first thing I did was buid a deck with Catch // Release and sac outlet to Catch lands, creatures, planeswalkers ... Anything and sac them to draw. You could even use the land you stole as it untapped. My deck building skills were not great at the time tho :/
My guess is that it allows for more flexibility when editing, or so he can tell which video the clip was for. As a real-life example, people that spend a lot of time answering voice mail usually start every voice mail they leave with their name and phone number so then people don't have to listen to the whole message again to get to the end to get the number
This deck I've made in Rakdos before but Mardu is a lovely flair on it. The big issue is that they never think with Etali that you can target your own creature and give them haste like, why not do that the games would've turned out different I feel if 7 damage hasters were used lol

I love the narrative of the Market Gnome getting invited to two weddings and getting so pumped up by it that he can put fear into a planeswalker. This l'il robot just scooting around handing people hors d'oeuvres and each time he convinces a vampire to eat a deviled egg the light in his eyes gets just a tiny bit brighter.
So... you he ffs vs the deck with 10/13 life and 10/13 damage at 14 life ??? he they poke with apple and you draw a steal, its 7 +4 ... a win. If they heal and you get an apple its steal steal hit drain... same.... Seth toxic scooper.

I play the same strategy, but with the Ayara that transforms, and Kethek. The only problem is that Arena "casually" almost always puts me against opponents that use a lot of hexproof like effects or token decks (I play Historic Brawl), and I'm barely aver able to steal any significant creature.
one of my favorite standard decks was a derpy thing i made years ago where i would combine act of treason, bazaar trader, viscera seer, abyssal persecutor, etc. it was a lot of fun permanently stealing primeval titans.
Been on a wild run lately with these decks and your videos. Having a ton of fun as a viewer. Modern has been unwatchable for a while so I'm looking forward to whether modern has opened up with Fury gone or if it's just all unwatchable Bowmasters and The One Ring.
In that one match seth started with 4 lands in hand, and out of 13 cards drawn 8 were lands. 2 lands were also fetched out from demolition field. So he managed to see 16/23 lands in that match Im also going to be unfair and call it an early scoop, i think it would be worth to see if opponent misplayed with cards they didnt put in their deck and see no play. And if they do see it your dead in 30 sec not a big time investment
Somehow trying this deck out put me in the queue with everyone playing low-tier janky decks that I never see in everyday play so I went like 2-8 in my first 10 games. Like I haven't seen a mill deck in a month of standard, but saw 2 tonight. I even saw a simic rotpriest deck. Why does standard unranked queue hate me so much?
The past few days, I've been playing a variant of Sunshot God and a pirate treasure deck. Both have been super flooded in 75% of my games. Seriously thinking something's wrong with Arena at this point.
I know Seth loves 90s alt rock, so I'm disappointed he killed multiple people with the apple and didn't make a joke about "teaching Arena zoomers everything about a poison apple."
This deck pops up from time to time. When it's good, it's good. Buddy of mine showed up with a B/R version back in the day of States. They are more frustrating than control decks sometimes. At least they'll end the game as fast as you let them.
I’m running this in red/black. I use Urabrask’s Forge instead of wedding announcement. The other sac outlet is Transmogrant Altar. The other one that can be run is Callous Sell-Sword.
I mean, steal decks are definetly already a thing. One of the decks I hate the most to play against. Just as much as I hate the boardwipe, creature token generating, planeswalkers decks. It just feels scummy really. Really ruins the fun of mtg imo.
30:15 There's card backs for Damnation but there's not actual Damnation card on Arena. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You have Wrath of God but no Damnation. It's the same thing, why not have Damnation.
I'd love to see you play with a deck that involves Araya, and Avatar of Mortality. It's a one hit kill if opponent is below 15 hp. Been playing with it myself and it does indeed work :)
i played for a long time Boros aggro with 2x main Apple because of this exact reason. Apple Is actually Just very good in this standard, change my mind ❤

I love the apple in commander. Had some wild turns with Megatron when it hits the field. Borrow the fattest thing on the field, sac the apple to megatron, kill a random thing, transform Megatron and hit for big damage that gets turned into mana.
this deck is Hilarious! I am going to be pissed when play against someone playing this. probably scoop right away. People losing the will to play creatures.
Something you seemed to miss with Twisted Fealty is that the Wicked Role can go on Target Creature not Your Creature so you should be buffing what you steal when its low creature count boardstates
i had a deck like this that was Izzet with Thassa, so i could bounce the things i steal and keep them forever. i called it "mister steal your grill." it was funny
I run a similar themed deck on historic from time to time. Except I of have ways to blink a creature to gain full control. Also have mirror hall mimic's in there as well.
8:48 Worth noting that you can put the Wicked Role token ON the stolen creature if you're just going to be sacking it. Extra 2 damage to your opponent.
This is inspirational! Is there any way in standard to stop etb effects? Like stopping the Etali and such effects so it's even more effective to win against those decks.

The apple was a total sleeper in limited too imo. So many funny games won by stealing or hitting em with that extra 3 damage

You should also run Urabrask's Forge as an alternate sac so you can get your card draw with the journal or another counter with Bart.
Urabrask's Forge doesn't let you sac anything.

Journal is such a huge upgrade for this archetype. The card draw is insane.

Against the odds idea, play every Surgical Extraction style card, rip all of the win cons away from them

This was one of my favorite decks ever. I used to play a steal and sac deck in standard with butcher of the horde and other sac outlets. So much fun.
When I saw the title I immediately went to and then visualized Seth rapping ala Beasty Boys, rhyming and stealing.

Fun fact: saheeli (standard saheeli) can clone eriette's charmed apple every turn (sometimes more if you can untap her somehow)
