For game of chaos (~37:00): Life totals are only checked on resolution, so no one actually dies until someone decides to stop flipping. So the winner can still choose to continue even if their opponent is dead. If the dead player wins, they're back in the game (and the other is now dead), but this can continue. With agreement, this can theoretically go to one player at infinite-ish life and the other super dead (but not a deterministic amount, so you need to play it out fully).
More usefully, if you're being targetted by an effect on the stack that will deal a lot of damage to you (and, for some reason, you cannot target its controller with Game of Chaos), you can keep going to gain enough life to survive the damage. But it's risky, of course.
19:35 Judge here. Knowledge pool is a trigger, so like any other trigger they go on the stack in AP/NAP order. The simplest way to put it is each player's spells will be replaced by spells from the closest knowledge pool to AP's RIGHT, since the furthest NAP player's pool will go on the stack last, and will resolve first removing the AP's spell.
@@CardmarketMagic My favourite card games channel in general, I'm a yugioh player at heart but the last few months I've gotten into magic and no matter how much amazing mtg content I consume yours is the one that hypes me up the most whenever I see the notification.
Random notion for a video: Two-headed Giant commander game where Jamin and Carl face off against Thoralf playing two decks at once. Think of all the jokes you could make about Thoralf "playing with himself"? C'mon! Dew it!
I love that Carl always chose chaos just for the fun of it even if it meant that he could die, and he was still happy about it. This is the true spirit of chaos
As it has been said several times already, thank you to Thoralf for being an incredible force of order in this world of chaos. But also a huge thanks to the editor, as the animations made it really easy to keep track of what cards did, what was resolving as a result of what, and everything else in this chaotic game.
A chaos commander deck and a good Judge Tower are pretty much built under the same criteria (with the exception that the Judge Tower shouldn't include lands or mana rocks).
I don’t know. Judge tower is pretty bad and this looks roughly equal. Judge tower is the fastest way to feel that you have no grip on the rules of the game.
OH HELL YEAH. Been waiting for some more Commander action on here! Thank you for the hours of entertainment, guys! EDIT: Also, thank you for the great editing - showing whose turn it is, commander damage, enlarging the cards to read, etc! It's great :D
0:50 The way Thoralf grinned here makes me think Jamin was the only one who didn't know what was going on. I applaud Thoralf for being extremely meticulous in keeping up the stack and trigger integrity as best he could, and I definitely respect Carl's decision to nope out early in the Game of Chaos so he didn't have to subject himself to this madness any longer than necessary.
10:45 Judge here. It DOES matter, partners with allows you to make any player (usually yourself) search their library for that partner (they can always fail to find I guess). Since you're all playing the same deck, while this isn't Thoralf's deck's Zndrsplt, all four decks probably have both it and Okaun - Thoralf can tutor it and in effect draw the card.
This is my favorite Cardmarket video yet, partly because I love Crim's energy with the German boys, and partly because these four versions of the deck have the most insane interactions I've ever seen. I honestly feel like this might be a new format all on its own. I would be so happy to see these four decks play again just to see what new versions of chaos come up.
Sheldon: Hey...who took the cards we set aside for the final scenario of our Judge Exam? *Behind him, a Crim-shaped shadow slowly walks out of the door*
I love this! It's what a game of Ascending Rules Uno evolves into, with the players helping each other remember the rules and figuring out the rules interactions together. It's fun to see the shift from each player confidently playing to win, into playing together as a group just trying not to fall out of the bobsled. Winning becomes secondary to exploring the design space.
Okay this is genuinely the best commander video I have ever seen. Watching these 4 play this absolutely insane pile and Thoralf having to reign it all in so it can keep moving was amazing.
Fun fact with Game of Chaos - You don't have to stop when a player is at 0 or less. State-based actions are not checked until the spell finishes resolving, so they could have kept going until one of them was at some astronomical number, which also could have made Crim lose in the end.
This was hands down one of the most fun games of mtg i've seen in a while, and it was an absolute blast seeing the shenanigans that came out. Also, as others have mentioned - major kudos to thoralf for keeping the game going smoothly, because chaos can absolutely get crazy with the amount of triggers and such happening xD
