dude. bro. I'm being totally serious right now. REVIEW THE CONVERSE CHUCK 70s!!! they would be a great follow up to this video. they're not a proper skate shoe, but I've seen plenty of amazing skaters rocking them. i have also skated them but i suck. i gotta say, even though they're not a shoe built for skating, they surprise the shit out of me. i don't skate them anymore because the outsole doesn't last long at all, but every now and then i do skate them and they always blow my mind on how good they are. yes, the upper is made of canvas, but it is heavy duty canvas that lasts longer than the outsole. there are so many great things about the shoe that frankly i don't know why Converse doesn't integrate those things into their own skate shoes.
One of the best skate shoes i've tried is actually from a relatively unknown brand, the Mephisto Ludo, its actually really high quality soft leather and has an air cushioning system and air soft insole, they're slightly heavier on the foot because of the quality of the materials but super durable. And the brand also will re-sole them once the sole gets worn out.
In general skate shoes are better than regular shoes yes. However, not all skate shoes are good and a lot of them these days are not at all durable, especially the outsole. For people who switch shoes every three weeks it's fine, I guess, but really companies should do better. I'd pay more for shoes that would last 4-6 months but really only Joslin's have lasted me that long even with shoe goo and super glue. They wear through the bottom. I'm also 42 so I'm not skating more than an hour or 2 a day, I can't imagine young guys who are putting in 4-6 hours a day, must go through shoes every few weeks. I used to do that in the 90s and never went through shoes that fast, especially the bottom of the outsoles (vans being the exception).
No hate to you here, but I have to disagree. I've skated in a lot of shoes, everything from work boots to top of the line skate shoes, and in my experience non-skate shoes can be just as good if not better than genuine skate shoes. Once you know what to look for in a skate shoe you can apply that to any pair of shoes. For the past 8-10 years I've almost exclusively skated in retro basketball and tennis shoes because more often then not they offer better cushioning and support then most skate shoes on the market, not to mention I can find them for much cheaper. I still buy skate shoes to support people I like, and some of them are pretty good, but if you ask me if I'd rather rather buy an $80 skate shoe or a $40 basketball shoe I'm taking the basketball shoe everyday of the week.
In case you are interested in buying them - I advice against it. Single stitching connecting the suede and mesh foretells how its gonna end. In my case it broke exactly in those connections on both shoes :(.
I like the content and this style video! I’d like to see you review Straye shoe. I have heard good things about their insole and would like to hear your opinion.
What 🛹 Shoes Are You Rockin? I alternate between my Nike SB Force 58s and my Vans A.V.E 2.0. ❤the extra cushioning both have, while somehow still retaining incredible board feel.
Good lace placement, padded, good insole, good outsole, good cushioning...are not what I think about when I see everyone at the local park wearing Vans, Adidas vulcs or nike blazers.
Nike SB Blazer Mids definitely have better than average insoles, a crate midsole, laces at the top of the foot, and have an internal bootie system. Swap insoles if you’re a gap jumper. The mid top collar is also well padded. Anything from Sole Tech is almost always a good idea.
been skating for a week now, don't have skate shoes yet. finding that trying to flick my foot forward for ollies and trying to pivot my foot between pumping and riding position are feeling awkward. would i be correct in assuming that the flat sole that skate shoes have would help with those issues? since the weight is distributed evenly across the whole flat sole instead of having parts of the sole raised, meaning your weight is distributed across less surface area and therefore pressing down harder into the grip tape, inhibiting movement?
Hey Christian I was just curious what kind of wrist guard is that and where'd you get it? I've gotten 2 different kinds from Amazon and I dunno if maybe I just choose cheap ones or what but they both suck. Super uncomfortable, bulky, and it kinda makes it hard to skate in cuz they're such a distraction. I was looking for one similar. Thanks and love the vids man and the sick artwork on the 3 block decks! 🔥

One of my favourite shows to skate in was the Nike court majestic , lasted 2 months which I'd say is really good for a non skate shoe
