I've thought a lot about this topic (and clothing for skating), I've done some research and here is the conclusion I found: So, many studies show that the clothes you wear can affect your mental and physical performance. The thing is that clothes tell a story about you, maybe you feel like baggy pants and large t-shirt are fucking cool (I do), but it goes deeper than that actually, it's the style that it refers to that you love (skaters for most of us). And that result is simply feeling good, try to wear clothes that are the opposite of your style and you'll most likely feel not comfortable and in some cases or even bad about it. So, that's why dressing has a huge impact in confidence, maybe you ever experience as you were young, being obligated to go to school in clothes that you absolutely hate, and you felt terrible the whole day about it, feeling like everyone is judging you and everything. That's why people who want to sell you something dress nicely, subconsciously, you give them more importance and so you are more likely to buy from them (without even realizing it !). In conclusion, clothing affect your mindset, and your mindset (how you view the world) affect your confidence in every situation, and as you might know, skateboarding is a lot about confidence, when you're skating and you're relaxed and sure about what you're doing, that's when everything goes well. Brands use this system a lot (Nike SB is the perfect example) ; showing skaters killing it with Nike's stuff. Let's take Luan Oliveira for example, if you love Luan's style, there's a high chance that you'll think you'll be better with skating his shoes. That's why some people are killing it while skating fucking mountains shoes, they deeply feel good about wearing those. As I like to say, it's a perspective game, and that's basically a life rule, never forget that 😉 Thanks for reading, English is not my native language, so I try to be as accurate as possible when explaining things, hope it was understandable, have a nice day 😃

New to skating, went to a sportshop that has skate corner with clothing and shoes. Bought one of the 5 pairs of “skate shoes” they had (canvas, but idk what the difference was) went through them in 5 days 😑
I tend to get my skate shoes off second hand websites often of people who don’t use them for skating, they may be abit dirty but they will have the same durability as a brand new pair at a fraction of the price. I have often spent no more than £5-10 max. I have done a video about it on my channel if you are interested further about it :)
got back into boarding a few weeks ago since i got a job in a small town. using a penny board to get to the office, my old childhood skateboard should be arriving here in a couple days. imma stick to vans
Do your skate shoes even matter? Shows a pair Nike’s and adidas?? Answer: apparently not. Best pair of skate shoes I ever had was the mike vallely etnies. Lasted a real long time
quality sneakers really do make skateboarding less of a hassle. Style 112 mid pro vans have to be my favorite skate shoes of all time, and I could certainly notice the difference.
Your skate shoes do matter. And people can tell you get this or that because it works for them but, you aren't them, you're you. What's comfortable to you, how often you skate, how you skate and what you skate is most likely going to differ from others. So shoes are trial and error, and finding one you can stick by can take time. Finding that ultimate mix of comfort, performance, durability and style is a gamble because any shoe can have any one of these features and not the other. Finding that medium of it all that fits you is the goal. Since its release, I personally have skated the éS Accel Slims and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, unless of course it's discontinued.

My shoes are all sale shoes, I want to try FP and Van's Ave Pro cupsole shoes. They look great for impact protection but the price is insane.
For a wear and tear item such as a shoe to be skated, I agree get them on sale. I try to keep it to $50 or less, check clearance items on sites/stores, also discount stores.
