Have been practicing Kenpo for about 32 years. I am and always a student. This is a great series. Thank you for sharing sir!
Thanks so much! Keep punching! 👊
It is an honor to be part of this series and I really enjoyed the time spent at Kaizen Dojo with Sensei Ford. For more information on Shuai Jiao you can go to www.guangwushuaijiao.org and for information on our school in California www.sequoiakungfuandyoga.com.
Great Sonny! Happy for you! Great Shuai Jiao presentation!
Another awesome episode! Every episode just gets better!
Thank you for your invaluable contributions!
Sonny is awesome! We've been lovin his stuff here in Portland!
I study Sun Style Hsing I, Bagua, Tai Chi.. also do Shuai Jiao, and when you get to a certain point, you realize, its all the same, the only difference is how you decide to think about it.
+Ed Kushnerick I believe this as well!
I have never heard about this art until now! Awesome stuff Ford Sensei!
👊😁👍
Very cool. Practicing hours per day. This guy is on the path. His throwing and understanding of positioning is very good.
great series indeed..very enlightening..thanks for posting
Another great episode, William!
Thank you!
Great episode!!
🙏👊
I'm so glad I found you again😀
Man, there's a lot of that Chinese wrestling hidden in the Kata. Once Okinawa was a midpoint between Chineses and japoneses that makes all sense that Karate got both influences.
I totally agree. I also think that when you train the wrestling part it makes all the other aspects better.
@@taichibum yeah, the UFC proved that. If you can't wrestle, you can't defend yourself. Unless you're training for health, and then who cares?
This was fascinating, obviously the style is interesting, but the discussion between the two is great and is interesting that there is this common bridge between people of different styles in terms of the processes we go through and development of students learning/being taught. I agree we end up our own version of our styles and accumulated knowledge but interpreted in our varying ways, but is true as well if we do this divergence too soon we end up making mistakes we aren’t even aware of and ‘stray from the path’. Once you know your path well, in a way you can go anywhere.
As a judo and jiujitsu guy I’ve known about Shuai jiao for some years. I’ve always wanted to train it as it is very similar to what I do but with some nuances I’m sure that would open up my understanding. For instance the opening scene with the overhook and lengthening out making it almost like a tai Otoshi (body drop) throw.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this art..
Thank you! Cheers!

Hi, I am glad you like the video. I really like the northern styles. It is too bad we never got a chance to meet, but if you are ever in the states or if I am ever in Belgium it would be great to meet up and train.

Wing Chun? Thanks
Would you know if there is a shuai jiao school or club near LA?
there is at least 1 Shuai Jiao club in LA, but they are not affiliated with us so I do not know much about their training methods. I do have a free course up right now on my website if you are interested. Go to www.guangwushuaijiao.org and you will be able to find it.
the LA Shuai Jiao team practices on Saturday in Whittier. Details can be found at shuai-jiao.org/
何冠達He Guan Da is from Beijing and teaches in LA area.
1:45. so that's why my uchi mata sucks when i was trying it yesterday
Sonny, after listening to your experience in China, you should talk to your country fellows about China and Chinese ppl. Your government is now seriously misinformed your ppl..
I m also a martial arts lover in hk. So I fully understand what you said.
"Go study 5 styles"??? Who has time and the money to do that? :) Perhaps not at the same time. Maybe that's what Dan Inosanto meant? I mean for most people MA is just another art we might study. Most people aren't learning for income or to put food on the table. It's done in addition to soccer, baseball....etc. Learning to cook...etc.
I would have liked to have known why Sonny chose Kung Fu and not go to Greco Roman Wrestling.
This reminds me of Manchu wrestling (Manchu: ᠪᡠᡴᡠ; Möllendorff: buku; Abkai: buku).
Interesting!
@@SenseiFord Tang dynasty wrestling in China was similar to Sumo. This Beijing style came from the Manchu.
Hopefully If you can feature Sensei Jesse Enkamp?
Yes, hopefully we can make that happen! He’s awesome!
