Thanks, this is a real complimentary view of Dan Inosanto and old school training, esp. right after listening to Jeff Imada on JAM.

    AMAZING!
There must be a connection to Okinawan fighting systems...maybe during the Ryukyu- Kingdom soldiers and traders exchanged their knowledge (chinese Wushu- Styles like White Crane, Bagua, Shaolin-Fist, or Muay Boran from Thailand..etc. ) with the okinawan masters?
The video of Jesse Enkamp about the connection to Kali was outstanding...
    Who knows...

I've always wondered...given the choice...why would some one choose Muay Thai. A full-contact art that could leave you with severe brain damage and internal injuries. Damage we might never recover from. Many Thai MT guys have died fighting. But for them it was a sacrifice of their lives to put food on the table back home. A way out of poverty. Couldn't afford to go to schools. Had no job skills.
Was it because they watched Muay Thai themed movies and were influenced? Never considering the permanent damage they would get getting. That they could have chose to go back to school. And chose a more safe art?
Wehn I was a teen I wanted to learn western Kickboxing. A friend was studying (parents wouldn't let him step in the ring). At the time I was briefly upset with my parents. I didn't understand why not. Now I'm glad they were never willing to pay for it. Some how I never pursued it after that when I could afford it. Glad I didn't. I now know why not.

I think the danger of brain damage in boxing is bigger.

Great episode, William! It's fascinating to see the differences between karate and Muay Thai, especially with stance and how you throw elbows. And all those legendary instructors you guys discussed!
