    Great job! I own a Uniflite 1972 Sportfishernman that is only 27 ft and I cannot imagine workingon a larger boat. Uniflite was an American treasure! Overbuilt and tough!

    I grew up in Bellingham. Spent my youth around the harbor. Used to jump the wakes of the Uniflite's that were factory testing. My middle school job shadow day was with thier naval architect. Nice to see a survivor getting a new lease on life.

      Nice! Cool to think you may have seen this one being built or chasing it around the bay! I've always believed these Uni's were worth restoring. They are on par with any boat of the time and rivaled many. Thanks

      Thanks Stephen. She definitely deserves a second chance. This brands quality warrants the work. Much like an old Bertram, Hatteras, or Chris... 👍

      Thank's Congratulations on the Uniflite. I hope to get the second half out in 2-3 months as we are getting ready to launch her this spring. I am considering some shorter more detailed video's highlighting specific jobs and how they were done. I'll see how that goes. If you have questions let me know, I will try to answer them. Also, if you haven't already found them, the Uniflite owners and Pacific NW Uniflite owners groups of Facebook is a great community resource.
      Best of luck!

    That's a really good looking hull. I've seen the brand before but never noticed how good the lines are. Maybe different years or something but this to me looks better than the average Moppie type. The old Chris craft is hard to beat just because of the rarely . Bet she runs dam good.

    • @GT2Racer

      Thanks Mike. She is one of the few models that had that flared bow and drop sheer. Which to me really makes a difference and also drew me to it. Has that sportfish look.
      She runs out very well. Hope to get back to her soon and continue some more videos. Thanks for your comments. 👍

    Steel engine mounting brackets . Bad idea .......bronze or stainless min . 5/16”

    • @GT2Racer
      @GT2Racer  4 года назад +3

      Hi Mike. Sure, I could have fabricated them from 316L, or spent a fortune casting 1 off bronze mounts. But steel in this application should be fine, there is nothing stronger. (mounts are 3/8" thick) What you didn't see in the video was the prep and coating of the mounts. They were acid etched, prepped and two coated with u-pol por15 (not just rattle canned). They will outlast the boat at this point. Provided you aren't grinding the coating off which would be no easy task.
      Thanks, I appreciate your input.
